Mumbai: Bollywood Actress Diya Mirza, who has been associated with several philanthropic organisations is planning to set up an educational institution for children based on the teaching module of a well-known writer Jiddu Krishnamurthi. United Nations Peace Medal-winner Jiddu was also a renowned public speaker on philosophy and spiritual topics.
"I have always been fascinated and inspired by J Krishnamurthi's teachings, especially education. I am looking to start working on an educational module based on his theories and teachings. One should never bring a child up in fear and this theme of fear was recurrent in his public speeches. I will do something for children's education for sure soon but I need powerful people behind my cause to support it," Diya told DNA.
Krishnamurthi founded several schools and propagated a three-point educational aim for his institutions.like people should have a holistic outlook towards life which is free from bias and prejudice. Secondly, a person should have concern for man and the environment and thirdly that individual should have a religious spirit. Diya's planned educational institution will also be based on the same principles.
"This work involves me to go to colleges and speaking to students about the importance of voting and public mandate. I believe that nothing can be achieved if you sit on the fence. Majority makes a difference," she ends.
