Doesn't this mean that money is the main reason for them to join the Indian Army.

Regarding Indian citizens who leave India for better opportunities. If they left and joined the armed forces of another country without being citizens, then I would consider them to be mercenaries. But, Indians are leaving the country to go work in the civilian field, therefore I would label them workers. I would classify Nepali's who work in the civilian field as workers also.

I don't want India to recruit Nepali Gurkha's into the India Army. We can recruit them from India.

I wont go into past but do you even know that the Khalubar post which was the strongest post in the Kargil war was captured by Gorkha regiment people headed by Manoj Kumar Pandey.. The first sign of indian win in Kargil war was initiated by gorkha men. How do u look at it.. A set of paid mercenaries helped india in Kargil war..Try to know more about the maoist govt of nepal before commenting on them..Am sorry am beyond angry on some of ur post as i do belong to a family which has served indian armed forces for generations..Just because you dont approve of a boy as a singer in indian idol you are on a mission to vandalise all his credentials in world's most respected profession..Shame..

So just because they do not "look" like "you" does not mean that they are not citizens of this country. They are as Indian as I, you or anyone else is and have the same rights.

.... and they are the most beautiful Indians i have ever seen
(myself a not-so-good-looking south Indian from Bengaluru😃)

Wow the topic is still alive! :P

Let me say something, but please no-one take offence. :$
I agree with the post above that they are indeed very beautiful and all Indians shouldn't just generalise what a so called "normal" Indian is supposed to look like. But just tell me something. In the 21st century where even the poorest of villages are completlely hooked to Bollywood movies, bollywood actors, actresses, how are these poor people meant to know how anyone outside their town looks like? Lets assume they somehow have a tv. They see news reporters, actors, cricketers, but they all seem to look "like they do". Maybe poor people are an exception but what about the millions of Indians themselves who have never stepped outside their city. We only stereotype after we see what is known to us as "the common public" whom they see everyday etc. Even an NRI for example, or even a tourist. They will visit their hometown, maybe Goa, a few hill stations, vaishnodevi/shirdi/ajmer or whatever and thats why ther eare so many misconceptions and i'm afraid a lot of the time I can't blame people for not recgonising their own people because its a country of 1.2+ billion and yes, its not good to generalise and have a picture of what an "average indian" looks like, but you can't expect everyone to recgonise an Indian from far when they may never have seen a north east indian in their life. There are misconceptions and they should be cleared. As a matter of fact, I always only visit Bombay, haven't even been to Goa, Delhi, Rajasthan etc like parents but I did my own research when I was around 12 and researched north, south, east and even west but I can't expect an average Indian to do that.
Misconceptions are there. But they are there for a reason. Blame the media, not just the average Indian.
