While Vishal Shekhar claim to have remixed this song Bachna E Hasino because they love Pancham too much I simply see this as a way to cover up mediocrity.
Better way of showing bhakti would be to compose an original tune by VS as good as this one and then dedicate that to RDB..!

Most of their (VS) output to my knowledge has been in the fast music,
item songs and club-mix sections. Unlike SEL or ARR - they have not
explored the spectrum of folk, classical, pop, filmi, type of
numbers. Hence when this duo pays tribute and
mention how much devotion and inspiration they have and get. I take
all that with a pinch of salt. Why remix a song when the original is so good...!!

Vishal-Shekhar revive Panchamda

'Bachna Ae Haseeno' is scheduled to arrive this Friday. The title song of the film has been on since a fortnight now and it has got a phenomenal response. The film has Ranbir Kapoor in the same frame as hotties Deepika Padukone and Minissha Lamba. The song choreographed by Ahmed Khan and directed by Siddharth Anand himself is a highlight of this Yash Raj .

Music director Vishal-Shekhar also contributes in making the music a big hit. But they credit it especially to Panchamda himself who they feel has blessed the crew from heaven with the video of the title track being shot the same day he was born (June 27) and the video was wrapped up on the day of Vishal's birthday (June 28).

"Isn't that amazing? We could well feel that he was there to guide us in making sure that we did full justice to his song which has been a craze since three decades. Being a true R.D. Burman follower, I have always felt blessed to be born on a day after my idol. Now with Bachna Ae Haseeno, I also got a platform to celebrate my birthday on the film's sets. Even as the of this evergreen number kept Ranbir and company charged throughout these two days, we knew that up there even Panchamda must have been smiling to see the spin the current generation has taken on his creation," says Vishal Dadlani. The musician duo has given a new look to this yesteryear number. They also brought Kishore's son Sumeet Kumar behind the mike for the track.

Ajab si and main agar kahoon are not the fast track music. Those two songs are brilliant compostion. However its also true that sonu nigam and KK did splendid performance with the song and music arrangement are also too good. Still u cant take anything from their contribution. Its better to do few remix es than copying note to note from other language songs, that too not even mentioning original composer. Hopefully in future they will venture into classical and folk based songs too.

Its not that they dont compose soft numbers, but they are more known for their fast and peppy songs.. Their first album, Jhankaar Beats has many soft songs as well and are a huge hit.. Maybe the albums they choose are demanding for such songs and as their songs are more popular for peppy numbers, they are choosing such albums I feel...

I must say VS are simply losing opportunity to prove their talent, no doubt they could be capable of doing more but it is not coming across. Now take our stalwart composers like Sajjad, Madan Mohan, Ravindra Jain they hardly got A grade movies...!! Madam Mohan drank and died in despair But they proved their worth in what ever mauka they got but this is not the case here.
A R Rehman was simply picked up at a cost of Rs 25 000 for Roja when Maniratnam istened to his tunes and now A R Rehman is a millionaire, the bottom line is: must prove your worth, or else one gets forgotten here very easily..!

BTW you didnt say your 2 cents on whether remixing is right to prove bhakti.

Hi the issue here is whether remixing is fine to prove bhakti to R D Burman, for Pritam dada there are separate threads😉....

As far VS composing prowess is concerned I still think their best hasn't come yet.

Ya I some what agree with you.. But these days you see money speaks a lot.. 😆 There were few MDs say like Shantanu Moitra who maintain their standard.. VS are getting more contracts for peppy albums and they cant say No to it..

Regarding remixes, well - its their own way of paying their tribute.. Their movie Jhankaar Beats is dedicated to RD as well and I dont think they have remixes in that album.. Maybe BEH demanded a remix and they did... I have heard the song, they have not changed much of the notes though...

ID jee though ur title is about VS showing bhakti to RD, u also mentioned about their forte in fast music only. I was only trying to defend that point. 😊

there was one remix hame tumse pyar kitna in jhankaar beats, BTW we saw the movie Bachna E Hasino today and must say that the title theme BEH is more in club remix class with some notes shifted, here Sumit Kr brother of Amit Kumar has been given a mauka by VS. Overall even if they had used the original song I am sure it would have been a hit. BTW this is not a bad movie at all as claimed in some reviews I didn;t have difficulty in spending more than 2 hours, my faith had shifted after watching tortures like de taali and Love story 2050...they were really pathetic.
Rest of the songs of the movie are typical club mix style with rap intervening, fit for disco theques. Except one khuda jane (KK), otherwise these songs can br programmed simply on 3 keyboards with heavy MIDI and sequence rhythm back up.
