Young Emperors are usually guided by grand tutors and/or Prince Regents (like in POJ novel). When either of them is present, the Empress Dowager doesn't have a say there.

Crown Prince's syllabus includes mandatory stuff and also memorials from Emperor's study to learn how to deal with real life problems so maybe they actually get mature early.... or know how to navigate the court!

And also Emperors are considered Gods there, the son of heaven, the chosen one, the ruler of the realm so no wonder that arrogance is etched deep in their bones from a young age.

Generals in 20s and Prime Minister candidates in 30s, wouldn't hurt to imagine an Emperor in his teens

There are few other dramas that had young Emperors I can't remember now but they didn't have many dialogues. In one drama the Emperor even bought stuff toys to play on the throne

what about those 2 episodes in which they already fought over same reason ? Seriously was he in coma for 3 years..both ML and his brother are useless ..

i find only ye xian acceptable..only he has got good redemption arc ..

I found CYY a wannabe strong male lead he fell short in terms of scheming before his mentor. Okay I get it, his mentor is THE mentor for a reason but still the damages CYY faced were relatively larger. If not for being close to the Emperor and having Ye Xian as his ally, his head would have rolled long time ago.

Did you find CYY's darma after finding out GJZ used to like his nephew overrated? Man had a whole damn wife but was salty when he found out his wife liked someone when she was 15. Like he was the damn reason she noticed his nephew in the first place. That arc pissed me off like hell. And his reason was she didn't tell him personally - huh whaaaat??

Maybe it's the slow burn undertone or the actor who played Ye Xian, this drama was a good watch for me. Still, after complaining so much
