Only five matches left in the IPL regular season with every team on 13 points, meaning it's the last chance for Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings to tack on some points to better their position. On the outside looking in are CSK, who need a win plus need RR, PBKS, and KKR to lose their games – and a win by enough points to jump over RR in the net run-rate sweepstakes. It's a very difficult task for CSK now, but the only thing they have in their own hands is winning by a decent margin on their own legs. Some things are working, some things are not – and tonight is the night when captain Ruturaj Gaikwad really needs to step up and show his true quality.

Qualification sealed for GT

Gujarat Titans earned qualification during their little break in games, as SRH's win over CSK saw both teams go through to the next round, their 16-point total unassailable. GT have recovered in a terrific fashion this season – five losses this season, but only three in their last 11 matches. Now, the next goal is to finish in the top 2.

High-octance clash

2022 Champions Gujarat Titans will clash with five-time winners Chennai Super Kings in their last group stage match.

Gujarat Titans are currently placed at second spot in the points table with 16 points in 13 matches. They are qualified for the IPL 2026 playoffs and will look to finish the league stage on a high to seal a top-two finish. GT is coming to the contest after registering a dominant win against the Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens.

Meanwhile, on the other side, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are placed at sixth position in the points table with 12 points in 13 matches, and they will need to win their final match against GT to stay in the playoffs qualification race. CSK also needs to win the match with a big margin to improve their net run rate, which can play a big role in deciding the fourth team if other teams' results go in their favour.

: Middle-order challenge and tactical duels

Gill, Jos Buttler, and Sudharsan will continue to anchor Gujarat’s batting. However, GT’s middle order has lacked consistency, something CSK may look to exploit with left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein, who has dismissed Gill twice in T20s.

On the other side, Sanju Samson emerges as CSK’s key player against spin in the middle overs. His battle against Rashid Khan could prove decisive in determining whether CSK can post a competitive total or successfully chase one.

Just minutes after the winning runs were hit, the teenage opener completely let loose on the outfield. In a video that instantly went viral across social media platforms, Sooryavanshi was seen pulling his playing trousers down around his ankles right on the pitch. Unbothered by the rolling cameras and packed stadium, the 15-year-old began casually roaming around the ground in his shorts.

If that wasn’t hilarious enough, the youngster then hoisted his playing pants over his shoulder and around his neck. Sooryavanshi even began posing for the stadium photographers in the bizarre attire before being stopped by one of the players.

That manager..who is his appointed guardian..he took off the pant form his shoulder...

Usko kya lena dena camera se...logon se...he still does not know what celebrity means...smiley36..Achcha...

Batting-friendly conditions and key battles

The match will be played on the traditionally batting-friendly surface at the Narendra Modi Stadium, where GT’s in-form captain Shubman Gill and his opening partner Sai Sudharsan will be key.

Negotiating early swing and dominating the powerplay will be crucial against CSK’s bowling attack.

The middle overs are expected to bring a tactical contest, with GT’s ace spinner Rashid Khan testing CSK’s experienced batting line-up.

CSK fighting for pride and survival

On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings are on the brink after a narrow loss to SRH, with their playoff hopes nearly extinguished. The five-time champions will now be aiming to salvage pride in what could be their final outing of the season.

Ruturaj Gaikwad’s side needs a win along with other results going their way to stay alive in the playoff race.

Tight race at the top

Currently placed second with 16 points, the Titans are locked in a three-way battle with table-toppers Royal Challengers Bengaluru (18 points) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (16 points). A win against CSK would significantly boost GT’s chances of finishing in the top two.

A big victory could even see GT overtake RCB’s net run rate (+1.065), depending on other results. If SRH also beat RCB in their final league game, the fight for the second spot could come down to net run rate.

In that scenario, GT hold a slight edge with their NRR of +0.400 compared to SRH’s +0.350.
