CSK fighting for pride and survival
On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings are on the brink after a narrow loss to SRH, with their playoff hopes nearly extinguished. The five-time champions will now be aiming to salvage pride in what could be their final outing of the season.
Ruturaj Gaikwad’s side needs a win along with other results going their way to stay alive in the playoff race.
Tight race at the top
Currently placed second with 16 points, the Titans are locked in a three-way battle with table-toppers Royal Challengers Bengaluru (18 points) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (16 points). A win against CSK would significantly boost GT’s chances of finishing in the top two.
A big victory could even see GT overtake RCB’s net run rate (+1.065), depending on other results. If SRH also beat RCB in their final league game, the fight for the second spot could come down to net run rate.
In that scenario, GT hold a slight edge with their NRR of +0.400 compared to SRH’s +0.350.
