Two matches into the season each, Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Giants find themselves on opposite ends of the spectrum - not just on the points table, but also in how their batting is unraveling.

One side keeps winning despite repeated collapses, while the other is losing despite building consistent platforms upfront.

When they meet on Wednesday at the batting-friendly Arun Jaitley Stadium, it sets up an intriguing clash between two flawed sides chasing very different answers to lingering concerns from their past.

DC are sitting pretty with two wins, but the results have masked persistent top-order failures that led to a nosedive from the top of the points table in the last edition.

On 26/4, they were staring at a certain defeat despite dominating the first half of the game against Lucknow Super Giants in their IPL 2026 opener.

At home, they slipped to 7/2 in the second over of the 165-run chase. On both occasions, Sameer Rizvi stepped in under vastly different conditions and deliveries - a 70* and a career-best 90 - doing exactly what his role advertised: delivering impact.

IPL 2026, DC vs GT 14th Match Match Preview - Gill set to return as winless GT meet unbeaten DC

Rizvi getting the chance to showcase his potential and progress was perhaps a by-product of Delhi's grappling issues. KL Rahul has faced just five deliveries in this IPL, scoring a solitary run in two games.

Nitish Rana, too, is yet to stamp is authority at no. 3 with pressure mounting as other domestic batters wait in the wings. For now though, DC have resisted the urge to tinker - a decision made easier by those four points already in the bag.

If Delhi's concerns are top-loaded, Gujarat's woes sit firmly in the middle. Titans' dependence on their top-three has stretched into a second successive year as well. Despite reaching 119/2 in the 14th over, they were restricted to 162 by the Punjab Kings.

Against RR, they fell six short of the chase of 211 after being set up remarkably well at 127/2 in 12 overs. On both occasions, the Nos. 4-7 were a no-show, turning strong positions into costly defeats. Their combined returns - 58 and 30 respectively in the two games - a far cry from the role of an ideal middle-order.

Compounding the issue is the dip in the form of Jos Buttler. The usually explsoive No. 3 hasn't crossed 40 in his last 10 T20 innings, further exposing GT's over-reliance on early momentum.

DC vs GT Match 14, IPL 2026: Preview, Predicted XIs, Player Tips & Match Prediction On Cricketnmore

It's still early days in the competition for any panic-induced changes. Wednesday's contest, therefore, is a chance for both teams to course-correct before those faltering patterns harden into defining habits and start costing a lot more points.

When: Wednesday, April 8 at 7:30 PM IST

Where: Arun Jaitely Stadium, Delhi

What to expect: Even boundaries, for starters. There's a slight green tinge across the pitch 24 hours out from toss. Tuesday saw intermittent rain from morning to afternoon, but the rain forecast has significantly cleared out for the match day. That said, a short spell of rain is expected around 2 PM on Wednesday.

Head to Head: Gujarat lead 4-3 in their seven-match rivalry, and that includes a 2-1 record at Delhi's home.

DC vs GT IPL 2026 Match 14 Prediction, Odds, Pitch & Playing XI

Teams Watch

Delhi Capitals

Injuries/Availability: David Miller took a blow to the face in training on Monday but is understood to be doing fine. DC's bowling coach Munaf Patel all but confirmed an unchanged XII for their second home game, should there be no last-minute concerns.

Tactics & Matchups: KL Rahul has scored only one run across the two matches this season and he couldn't have asked for a better opponent to find his mojo back. His record against GT's new-ball bowler Mohd. Siraj is highly impressive: 135 runs off 79 balls, a strike-rate of 170.88 and just one dismissal. Siraj himself has gone wicketless in six of his last 13 IPL games, and only once returned more than one wicket in those innings.

Probable XII: KL Rahul (wk), Pathum Nissanka, Nitish Rana, Sameer Rizvi, David Miller, Tristan Stubbs, Axar Patel (C), Vipraj Nigam, Lungi Ngidi, Kuldeep Yadav, T Natarajan, Mukesh Kumar

Gujarat Titans

Injuries/Availability: Sai Sudharsan has confirmed the return of his opening partner and team captain Shubman Gill who missed the previous match due to a muscle spasm. Kumar Kushagra should make way at the top of the order.

Tactics & Matchups: As impactful as Kuldeep Yadav is in the IPL, his record takes a hit in Delhi's homeground. The average drops to 36.93 (vs 20.64 at other venues) and the economy shoots up to 8.79 (vs 7.47). For a struggling middle-order, this is a chink GT can look to exploit and get some runs under their belt.

Probable XII: Shubman Gill (C), Sai Sudharsan, Jos Buttler (wk), Glenn Phillips, Washington Sundar, Shahrukh Khan, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Kagiso Rabada/Jason Holder, Ashok Sharma, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna

Did you know?

- Delhi Capitals opening pair has survived the Powerplay just once across 16 innings since IPL 2025

- Jos Buttler averages 59.5 in IPL at the Feroz Shah Kotla ground, with 357 of his 510 runs against Delhi Capitals coming at this venue, at a strike-rate of 170.81

- Since IPL 2025, Prasidh Krishna has been a far more economical bowler (6.71 vs 9.53) when defending targets. Case in point: the 3/29 vs PBKS despite being introduced late as compared to the first-innings returns of 1/43 vs RR in the two games thus far this edition.

DC vs GT Match Prediction: Toss, Playing XI, Key Players, Best Batsman, Best Bowler & Who Will Win IPL 2026 Match 14?

What they said:

"When you're winning matches, you don't want to change the winning combination. We haven't pressed the panic button yet. Decisions will only come if results don't go our way. For now, things are stable, and there's no need for changes." - Munaf Patel, Delhi Capitals bowling coach, on top-order concerns.

"IPL is one of the biggest platforms anybody can get. [I feel] the mindset should be to do our best, be as versatile as [possible] and equip yourself for any situation which can come. And greater things will happen on its own." - Sai Sudharsan, Gujarat Titans opener, on if he sees IPL as his ticket to India comeback.

Despite an early setback in the chase, with the top order faltering and losing quick wickets, Sameer Rizvi again delivered a match-winning innings of 90 off 51 balls after being introduced as an impact player. He received solid support from Pathum Nissanka, who added a valuable 44 runs. Earlier, Delhi’s bowling unit delivered a disciplined performance, led by Mukesh Kumar with two wickets, while Lungi Ngidi, Axar Patel, Vipraj Nigam, and T Natarajan contributed with one wicket each.

On the other hand, the Gujarat Titans had a disappointing performance in the previous game, suffering a 6-run defeat against the Rajasthan Royals. Batting first, Rajasthan managed to post a total of 210 runs; in response, Gujarat managed to score 204 runs. Despite the loss, Sai Sudharsan delivered a solid performance with 73 runs, while Jos Buttler contributed 26. Among the bowlers, Kagiso Rabada stood out as an impact bowler, picking up two wickets for 42 runs in his four overs.

Last time, in 2025, when the teams met, Gujarat dominated Delhi, winning both games comfortably. On 19th April, Jos Buttler's unbeaten 90-run knock led the Titans to win over the Royals by 7 wickets. In their second face-off, on 18th May, Sai Sudharsan's unbeaten 108-run knock bulldozed RR by 10 wickets. However, captain Shubman Gill (93)* missed out on his century by 7 runs while chasing.
