Waise folks were discussing here makers trying to exploit nandinis trauma
It does feel exploitation cause we are seeing this for second time now. Eklavya was same and nandini accused him of being like ansh. Here too rio would turn bad and would hate her, harm her etc. It's a meaty storyline which was high point of gen2. Also the og actors are here giving best performance so I don't mind. There will be no assualt scene hopefully and I do want rio trying to kill nandini and her killing him back. Gauri would nail those anger disgust scenes
Also i disagree that just because she's happily married she won't be effected by ansh/rio. This woman went through long term trauma physical mental emotional, societal even from her family side. The scars are still there. Just because her husband is supportive doesn't mean the memories are forgotten. It is realistic. A bit sensitive topic but a lot of girls are wrongly sexually assaulted, were touched by creeps in buses trains etc. Sone girls become bold and slap these creeps next time. Some become very quiet. Sone become promiscuous to handle that trauma. Nandini is no different.
I know it’s a repeat of the Eklavya track in a way but I think it’s different this time definitely. Yes, they’re milking the same cow again but then again that was to be expected the moment they got Aakashdeep onboard back again because what else could be the point of making him play a 20 something?
But I think there’s a core difference. By the time Eklavya was introduced in S1 the cast in Kyunki was too big, like they could literally fill the living room of SN with the Viranis alone. You didn’t even need side characters, extras or villains and vamps, cameos to do the job, and I’m talking about present day SN’s set not the original one which was much smaller in comparison even post the 2nd Gen leap.
Nandini dealt with the trauma of Eklavya as a sorta need to get this over with fashion. Her trauma was also in part connected with that of KT going through the same thing all over again. KT herself ends up getting engaged to Lakshya and it’s on their engagement day that Bhoomi exposes how her brothers Manthan and Eklavya, accused of the crime are both in fact innocent even though they don’t exactly like KT but they’re not rapists. It’s Damini and Gautam’s son, Mayank, who was the culprit, whom Damini was shielding all along as she knew the truth. He’s shown as a mentally challenged man who has taken a shine to KT and his crime is explained as him being possessive of her for being nice to him and how mentally he maybe childlike but physically he’s an adult and that’s how he was capable of committing the crime and felt that establishing a physical relationship with KT would mean she wouldn’t leave him much less marry anyone else. I am NOT kidding
Here, so far, Nandini has shown more emotion and more genuine trauma in what little she’s interacted with Rio and the panic attacks she’s getting are more than anything we saw her endure in S1.In that sense this is different because probably 2 decades ago when this track aired the focus was so much on breaking new boundaries with the exploration of a taboo topic like marital rape that the mental repercussions of such an event taking toll on Nandini were hardly given any gravitas and explored. In 2026 now, the audience is more receptive and is actually discussing topics like mental health, trauma, PTSD, panic attacks and is more aware of the same. So I guess if handled well this is where they’ll take it. That’s probably also why they’re weeding out the Kapadia siblings one by one. Angad Vrinda will be the central pair in the spinoff, we saw Hrithik Munni talking about moving to Jamshedpur as well and Pari is now off to her honeymoon with Ajay, wouldn’t surprise me if she too is gradually phased out of Kyunki and ends up in the spinoff either directly post her stint in KKK or after she makes a perfunctory appearance in Kyunki again for a while and then is shown moving to Jamshedpur or any adjacent town with her inlaws or Ajay and their kids too.
Nandini’s trauma may then take centre stage as she wasn’t just shown to be assaulted by Ansh but also she was relentlessly stalked and harassed by him, kidnapped and nearly killed. For all we know this may lead to exposing Niyati but also this could be the first time that the topic is explored at least more than it was in S1.
So is it shamelessly repeating what happened already in the previous season? Yes. But could it be still different? Possibly also yes, given that this time around the show doesn’t have as many characters to deal with as it did back then. Because in S1 post the 2nd Gen leap, there was so much going on in terms of subplots with so many villains and even the Viranis themselves that such a topic barely got the attention it deserved and needed in the first place. Because remember back then they tried to reconnect TuHir wherein Ronit had a terrible mop on his head. I mean we had Mandira, Trupti, Meera to a certain point as the primary antagonists, then we had Juhi and Jai as cameos to do the same; factor in that there were oscillating characters like Tanya, Damini, Bhoomi, Eklavya and Manthan as well; that was too much negativity and way too many subplots from all the characters that had been too important prior to this leap itself and the leap brought in new kids who got their own subplots be it Manthan, Lakshya, Joydeep, Bhoomi etc. Back then we had at least 3 reunions themselves to look forward to TuHir, Karan Nandini and Saahil Ganga.
Now with fewer characters and subplots in comparison to back then, maybe they thought exploring this trauma based track was worth it because they could focus on it a lot more than they did in S1 for sure.
So in a way it makes sense more now than it did back then.
