He did make mistakes but I wouldn’t call it a lack of loyalty. Like most characters in the show, his character has multiple layers, and his arc evolves based on the series of events unfolding around him. From the beginning he was made to believe that his negligence was the reason his brother was taken away. Vish deliberately manipulated him and hid the truth, knowing that his profession would eventually give her access to Vik and the Saluja family’s wealth and that is exactly what happened. Throughout his childhood, he lived with immense guilt and when he finally met Vik, the burden only deepened because Vik remembered nothing. His pain eased only when Mannat made him confront the truth about his mother. Until Karwa Chauth, he had clear intentions to reveal the truth at the right time without ruining the Manvik relationship. That’s why he approached Ronnie to clear Vik’s MU. He has spent his entire life burdened with guilt naturally wants to escape that pain. In doing so, he ignored some of his mother’s actions. To protect her identity, he got ARS out of jail, something Mannat later confronted him. His mother manipulated him to the core and exploited his life as well. Yes, he made mistakes but it’s wrong to say he didn’t care for Vik. He witnessed Vik’s panic attack on his birthday just at the mention of Aman’s name. Later, Mannat asking for time and Rotu agreeing to tell Vik the truth triggered a chain of events that changed his perspective. He came searching for Aman but found Vik someone living a blessed life that he didn’t want to disrupt after learning the truth about his mother. Unfortunately, the truth surfaced in the most brutal way. His mother created a wall between the brothers and planted seeds of doubt in Vik’s mind. During his time at SM he also realised Vik’s anger issues and panic attacks which played important role. Vish’s manipulation led to one incident after another and Aat that point, he chose silence not out of selfishness but to protect the Manvik relationship while helping Mannat gather proof of her innocence. Since Vik had already rejected him and stopped communicating, Vish again twisted the narrative and convinced Vik that everything DK did was for Mannat, which further triggered Vik. DK tried multiple times to explain things logically, with reasoning and proof but Vik refused to listen. When Neetu went to jail, DK assured Mannat that he would speak to Vik. But the same day, Shruti passed away. At the funeral, he held his mother back so that Manvik could talk and resolve their differences. Yet, due to another manipulation by Vish, the brothers ended up fighting again, burying whatever emotions were left. Post leap, we saw DK still getting emotional about Vik. If Vik could throw his parents and Mannat out despite such strong relationships then who is DK to him? The least DK could do was stand by the people who were shattered and help them through their darkest phase especially when he knew how Vish had destroyed their lives. DK didn’t leave Vik it was Vik who didn’t accepted him. He is a flawed character but one who still stands his ground unlike many others. The writers are clearly preserving important arcs for him, which will unfold soon. Let’s see how his journey shapes up in the upcoming episodes.
