Yep, channels negotiate with the music producers to get best bargains for their shows and events across their networks since a limited companies exist on both sides and this way they get a better deal as it’s a sort of a wholesale purchase since channels also play songs for their special events.
Payment is made per which song is used, how old or new it is, how many times it was used etc. Neither channel nor music companies care for which song is played where and how many times across how many shows beyond the payment scenario.
There are only specific times when a particular song is reserved for a couple as their signature song - like Thoda Sa Pyar with Sujal Kashish and Ajeeb Dastaan for Anurag Prerna. But there the producers have to inform the channel that they want this song exclusively so that no other PH on that same channel or a rival channel can play it. Even the same PH, as in Balaji here won’t use it for any other couple of theirs on any other show on the same channel or a different one; heck not even in the same show. Because then the rights for the song are negotiated under an exclusivity contract with different terms and payment involved.
