No, honestly, films these days Doesn't have same effect to society as back then, even if with so much higher boxoffice result.
I would say no.... something about Aashiqui....the album ... whole other level
I wasn’t born when aashiqui 1 released to know the hype
For anyone who haven't seen the Euphoria of 90s Aashiqui here is glimpse what I got to see in those days.
Aashiqui became a musical hysteria even without internet and mobile in those days. I don't think any other Bollywood movie has broken its cassette sales record till date (ard. 20 Millions).
Radios, Buses, Taxi's were playing those songs in loop. Be it marriage functions, school & college fests, everywhere songs were being played. Mix tapes were popular those days, where we used to pay Rs. 5 per song, but Aashiqui songs would cost Rs. 8-10 per song. I used to gather all my friends and play Aashiqui songs on our Panasonic stereo player on the terrace and feel the cool breeze and everybody would sing along. It was like party for us. Much better than these days clubbing.
Apart from music, Rahul Roy became overnight star and his hairstyle was rage among the youth. Barbers were having hard time learning so called "Aashiqui Cut" . With this one hit, Rahul Roy signed almost 40 movies, most of which got shelved after 5-6 consecutive failures post Aashiqui.
Anu Agrawal went on to do some South movies, apart from few Bollywood movies but none of them came near Aashqui in terms of success.
Aashiqui not just introduced Nadeem Shravan & Kumar Sanu, it started somewhat an era of romantic musicals. Nadeem-Shravan, Sameer, Kumar Sanu, Anuradha with T-Series single handedly ruled the music arena in Bollywood for whole decade.
Compared to that, Saaiyara craze is not more than 20%. Surely, it had unexpected box office run. Music is topping in almost all social media charts. Still its reach using current day technology compared to early 90s is less.
Based upon the talk with OG SharmaJI.

Anu Agarwal had a massive accident somehow she survived her face of aashiqui not recognisable nowadays she is on Facebook and suggesting yoga meditation🧘♀️
I have seen ppl listening Aashiqui songs till date, for saiyaara to match that level of love, it has to sustain for next 35 years, so time bahut hai, let them grow.
Before 16th July, Saiyaara's 1 song was topping all over, Saiyaara Title song, abhi bhi that is the only song topping all song charts, in comparison, Aashiqui whole Album was rocking like anything when they came in 90s.
No Doubt Saiyaara's whole album is soulful, but isey bahut zayda time lagega to become cult classic like Aashiqui, even story & film wise.
Those who have lived those experiences will obvious never feel this one is bigger
After 30 years when another unexpected film will become successful many will not know or remember this movies success
Aashiqui music album was a rage at the time of it's release. It had made the record number of sales of audio casettes. Kumar Sanu shot to fame and was inundated with offers for most of the movies. The music directors became popular. The rest other members have mentioned it.
Saiyaara songs have certainly not hit that kind of craze.

What struck me most about Saiyaara was the quiet dignity with which it treated pain, especially hers. She had a brain injury, something that...
