Absolutely get you… it’s just that within the way we read the characters and analyse them, our sensibilities creep in and we put forth our perspectives. It’s like this… you may think a certain behaviour justified and someone may not consider it as much of a mitigating circumstance…

Personally, I am also drawn to Ani’s character for practically the same reasons but when I analyse, I want to be able to also see his actions for what they were…I won’t justify the actions only because I empathise with the character. It’s like this… I understand Ani took certain measures to keep Jhanak safe but he certainly did crossed some thresholds… I am not shy of discussing that… it doesn’t matter if we are justifying it for whatever backstory, trait etc but the point is it is out there..

bold - tbh I don’t know what is it that we are discussing here? Are you asking me why I have an issue with Ani’s portrayal during the aag track? And your point being why am I having an issue if Ani’s character has been clear from the start?

I feel I have explained myself clearly. And frankly, Ani’s actions post aag vindicated my understanding of Ani. The very fact that he course corrected meant he rued his actions so what’s the anomaly ? The narrative seemed to indicate that he had some doubt but wasn’t sure so he became a bit distant from her. If you feel that his actions were justified… well I can’t counter that.. to me, the narrative became a bit loose there… coz the moment she was proved right and she left the home, they showed him regretting… My issue was that Ani even in his worst phase always looked out for Jhanak so the only reason he couldn’t have was his preoccupation with Arshi… it wasn’t necessary to show him distant or antagonistic to that extent.

It’s a difference in how we perceive the character. I am not going to argue on this further. I respect your views… but I don’t feel the need to justify beyond what I have written above. 😊

@bold: Here, I was asking in what way has his character deviated from the beginning that it is considered to be character degradation...

And as you mentioned, he immediately course corrected, which he always does, but this time him course correcting is actually trying to forget his feelings for Jhanak and focusing on his current life and reverting to atleast try to support her like he did before... But this time, Jhanak herself took that choice out of his hands and for once, he accepted his fate...

I hope I'm making sense....

Hey Soumya…I know you are stating your views… but the thing is I never write to convince another about my perspective in a forum cos I feel its pointless… we just put it out for others to consume… if they accept fine… if not even then fine… no sweat!! 😊

my issue isn’t about his behaviour preceding the incident…I know why he acted the way he did before aag… it’s about post aag… that I have an issue coz his course correction needn’t have his shown his antagonism… just his distance was enough to show he had accepted his fate…

By creating confusion on the doubt, the agar dialogues… the narrative deviated from Ani’s core trait post meeting Jhanak - looking out for her in her time of difficulty… The narrative needed to merely show Ani too preoccupied with Arshi… the absence would have conveyed the message to Jhanak to leave BH in any case…I know for a long time, I made peace with this track when some forum members mentioned that one reason for him to doubt Jhanak was his show of PDA… triggering her hate… Well Well I can accept that only if I am a bit tipsy 😂😂😂 Kinda similar to him thinking that Jhanak accused of being the father during baby track as she was upset about him asking her to lose 😇😇 Well only Ani can think up this sh*t 😀

Some dark themes being explored and somehow I feel Jhanak going that way soon🤦🏻‍♀️

Jhanak as a show does not have much calibre to go beyond some already explored territories...And Leena is too lazy to make creative deviations...

Coming to comparison with Ichhe Nodee, it used to be a love story and did not deviate much to side character portrayals...unlike Jhanak, which according to the producers is a family show and hence loitering around anything and everything!

If you feel I'm forcing my perspective on you then I'm really sorry... I'm just stating my pov in reply to yours... That's all there is to it...

And as I already mentioned before the reason I'm talking about the Aag track now is the comparision drawn to the utter nonsense shown recently which doesn't make sense to me...

Because what's happening now is 100000 times worse than Aag track in my pov... That's what I was trying to put forward...

Not to justify Ani in Aag track but genuinely questioning how what's happening now is relevant to what happened then... Because I can't find any relevance at all....

Otherwise I would not talk about it now...

Hey alls good… I wasn’t focusing on current track cos what’s there to discuss in the current track? It’s bullsh*t we all agree. The discussion about aag was from way back and I don’t even know why we are discussing it tbh… probably those days we used to analyse every episode with a tooth comb.. and one of our posts may have made a mention now and we ended up doing a to and fro… not worth it!! If you found my writing abrasive… it wasn’t intentional just flow of thought.. back to those episodes and I must have been a bit short while expressing myself . I genuinely don’t have an issue with any perspective and if you note I never counter a perspective purely state mine…cos apart from the writer who can adjudicate whose perspective is right? And asking Leena I can bet she will say both 😂😂😂😂

Please don’t apologise… i know we ( you or me) aren’t looking to convince anyone…😃

It's hard to explain but Jhanak is in a different zone that those shows .....they show weird ghatiya stuff in Jhanak but it's overall in a weirdly irreverent zone that somehow works in the universe of this show.

These other Leena shows are more in your face CASUAL with the physical violence they show...they are normalizing it as part of the narrative....and it's more disconcerting in my opinion cuz they are showing this in family relationships....like this Adrija casually doing physical violence on someone she grew up with as a sister. In Jhanak's case, they treated her horribly cuz they considered her a maid since day one....that somehow worked in the narrative that it's a class difference superiority complex going on....but showing such casual physical violence in family setup is more depraved I feel and Leena is normalizing it through these shows.

That said, neither of these shows are exactly great TRP successes right now.....Jhanak debuted better at a late slot than either of them did in a more prime time slot.

After seeing clips of these shows, I have to say somehow the Jhanak cast really works together to sell the universe of this show....I don't see that being done as successfully in these other shows Leena has launched.
