Exactly, this is the same argument his haters are using about how the numbers for Pathaan and Jawan are made up and bought by SRK. If that's so, then why didn't he do the exact same thing for Dunki?
So I actually don't know the truth about these things because Sunny and Bobby also mentioned about this in KWK and Karan didn't exactly counter it outright. I had booked tickets for my parents for Dunki and usually book the seats closest to the door since my dad cant climb to the top rows. The entire 2 rows were booked. After the movie when I spoke to them, they said nobody turned up in those 2 rows so they were able to sit next to the door.
Now this could be anything. Perhaps the people didn't show up or they were corporate bookings not consumed. So the two things could be a) What I mentioned above or b)these fake bookings have been done and in spite of that these are the numbers. Because I didn't like Dunki and I am a huge SRK and Hirani fan and have been waiting for this union since SRK refused MBBS. But no point speculating as we will never have proof.
But buying awards and such allegations are just baseless spiteful comments with no basis.

I'm also surprised that Deepika didn't get a nomination for Gehraaiyaan. Was it because it was OTT?
What I'm wondering is what happens if Deepika gets votes from audiences for both Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress for Jawan in equal numbers. Will Filmfare have to pick which category they think she's a better fit for or will they go for whichever one got more votes by audiences.
Yes she is one of the biggest female superstars in the south so of course she must be upset.
Yes, Gehraaiyaan was OTT. But Shershaah was as well. I am quite sure Shershaah won a lot of the major awards.
Interesting question. I'm assuming you mean equal proportion/rank of votes and not numbers. I am guessing they will have to then make the decision based on how the jury sees her performance in the movie. Again, we will never come to know.

In comparison to other south heroines who made it big in their Bollywood debut, Asin left a stronger impact. She did win the Best Debut award and was nominated for BA.
I think Gehraiyaan's mixed reviews are what caused it to miss out on nominations. I think they were less strict about OTT with Shershaah since that was still during the pandemic.
It may also depend on how many votes she gets for Pathaan since they might decide to have her in both the BA and BSA categories.
Yes, that's what I meant.

Hmm interesting. Yes, definitely Asin had a stronger impact. Maybe that's why she is upset. Making your mark opposite 1 SRK is a challenge, here she had 2 SRKs. And add to it Deepika. Then her role was cut. Totally understand her anger. Yes, I remember. Gehraiyaan did win something in the music categories so it wasn't the OTT factor.

Karan has been accused of this a lot by Ajay Devgan and stories spread that for SOTY2, he was paying people to give good reviews who hadn't even seen the movie.
The story you've shared about Dunki is what I was seeing online with Animal. I wonder if any film this year was a genuine hit then. With Animal, the trend was that it was always seats on the left of the theater that were booked, always the same pattern.

Although even Asin fizzled out quickly.
Yes, it's a little like Om Shanti Om with dual roles for SRK and Deepika only in this case she's one of the Deepikas but was overwhelmed by the real one.
Didn't the strict OTT rules only come into existence for this year?

Wow, this is interesting. But what's the point of doing this? I can only guess its either to create an illusion that people are loving the movie and getting people to watch it out of FOMO, or an ego thing to be up there with numbers in record books.
In case of the second, I can understand Dharma, Red Chillies, YRF having that kind of money to burn but do the makers of Animal have that? I read Ranbir cut down his fees and went for profit sharing because the movie ran into financial trouble towards the end of production. It's just a blackhole this place and driven to the ground by these greedy big production houses and music labels.
So, is Gadar 2 the only true success story?

There is a Filmfare OTT awards in 2023. So Maybe last year onwards they've brought that in. Maybe they realised mainstream movies will never win anything because the quality of content on OTT is insane.
Rohit Shetty is on OTT now with IPF now which stars Siddharth Malhotra, Shilpa Shetty etc. Big mainstream actors and director. My mom said that going to PVR BKC for 2-3 people means a Net expenditure of around 5k. I was stunned at how expensive it has got and wonder more about the collection numbers with these costs. Even if I attribute it to SRK and Ranbir deprivation reaction, or hangover effects of covid lockdowns, that kind of expense is not sustainable I think. with 65-75 inch TVs in homes, its difficult to sustain.

Some people simply don't have logic in their bashing and assuming and asserting...and they rehash like old coffee-handmills the same & the same & the same accusations without ever being able to give a proof. It's just like a bad habit, a stupid obsession, an itching at a place where scratching gives them pleasure
