It sounds more rude when you're attached to the non-debut character which is not really loved as much as the debut one. We all know no other character can ever replace the aura of the debut character but downgrading the character when it's literally absent (like you said) makes it even more triggering for people who are emotionally invested

Unfortunately they are teenage fans who get defensive if someone's likeness doesn't match them with their likeness....

Stay away from such fans...you do your thing without bothering about them...
