Sandalwood-paste is supposed to cool a feverish body, but love in separation is a fever that repudiates every remedy. I have this song in my own collection, but I can't find it on the internet.

Song: Candanācī Çoḷī Māzheṃ Aṅga Aṅga Zāḷī

Singer: Lalita Phadke

Movie: Māyābāzāra or Vatsalāharaṇa (1949)

Lyricist: Gajanan Digambar Madgulkar

Music: Sudhir Phadke

Lyrics

Candanācī çoḷī māzheṃ aṅga aṅga zāḷī

Sarenā kīṃ gaṃ bāī rajanī kāḷī kāḷī

A sandalwood-smeared blouse burns me limb by limb

This black, black night, ma'am, just doesn't pass, girl!

Dilelyā vacanāñcī prītīlā smṛti nāhīṃ

Ekāntīṃ kākuḷatī kitīdāṃ yeūṃ bāī?

Virahīṃ karapate dehācī çāṃphe-kaḷī

Love has no memory of promises made

How many times should I come to plead in private, ma'am?

My body's champak-bud scorches in separation

Pahāṃṭa-vāryā-saṃgeṃ yeīla kā re hāṃka?

Hoīla kāṃ re kharī dilelī āṇabhāka?

Thāmbela dāha māzhā koṇatyā lābha-veḷīṃ?

Together with dawn wind, will the call come, man?

Will the given promise of faith become true, man?

At what rewarding juncture will my burning cease?

Nasūṃ de Śukra-tārā, disūṃ de tuzheṃ mukha

Tāpalyā jīvāvarī hoūṃ de hima-seka

Mājhyāça āṃsavāñcyā hotīla muṇḍāvaḷī

Let there be no Venus; let me see your face instead

On my heated soul, allow a snowy sprinkle

My own tears will transform into wedding-strings

A few decades later, the same Marathi words about sandalwood-paste burning rather than cooling were used as the title of a lāvaṇī, a suggestive song-and-dance for tamāśā theatre.

Song: Candanācī Çoḷī Māzhaṃ Aṅga Aṅga Zāḷī

Singer: Usha Mangeshkar

Movie: Candanācī Çoḷī Aṅga Aṅga Zāḷī (1975)

Lyricist: Jagadish Khebudkar

Music: Ram Kadam

Lyrics

Urī āga peṭalī virahācī, lāvalā lepa candanī

Rāga-rusavā soḍā, soḍā abolā dhanī

Çāndaṇaṃ asūna kaśī rāta kāḷī kāḷī

Candanācī çoḷī māzhaṃ aṅga aṅga zāḷī

In my chest, separation's fire's lit; I applied a paste of sandalwood

Let go fury and pique, let go the silent treatment, provider!

Even with moonlight around, how's the night blackest black?

A sandalwood-smeared blouse burns me limb by limb

Sāṅgā zāū kuṭhaṃ?

Sāṅgā rhāū kuṭhaṃ?

Sāṅgā tumacyā-vinā jīva lāvū kuṭhaṃ?

Āza ekalepaṇī

Duniyā zhālī sunī

Ubhyā āgīta mī zaśī zaḷatī kaḷī

Tell me, where can I go?

Tell me, where can I stay?

Tell me, without you, where can my soul belong?

Today, in solitude

The world's become empty

In total fire, I'm like a burning bud

Vāṭa baghate aśī

Thāṭa karate aśī

Rūpa nhāḷāyalā ainā dharate aśī

Tyāta tumacī chabī

Mhora rhāte ubhī

Zāte bāvarūna mī nāra bhoḷī khuḷī

I check the road like this

I ready my getup like this

To examine my looks, I hold a mirror like this

In it your bright image

Stands before me

I get bewildered, a simple, foolish woman

Rāyā zāgū kitī?

Zhuraṇī lāgū kitī?

Raṅga-mhālāta hyā sazā bhogū kitī?

Malā cheḍato Madana

Dūra gelā sazaṇa

Bāī ālī kaśī tāṭātūṭī bhāḷī?

Prince, how long must I lie awake?

How long must I pace restlessly?

How long must I serve my sentence in this decorated pleasure-room?

Desire teases me

My own man has gone far

Ma'am, how was this breakup stamped on my forehead?

Mehendi hai rachne wali is a song based on the mehendi rasam in a wedding.

Holi songs can also come in this category that you created because they have Gulaals in them.

In TOTW #2: Patriotism/Revolution/Social reformation, I shared this vernacular Marathi song that mocks an unrighteous deal with God involving turmeric powder.

Song: Ghabāḍa Miḷū De Malā

Singers: Chandrashekhar Gadgil, Pushpa Pagdhare, Ram Kadam, Mallesh, Vishnu Waghmare

Movie: Devakīnandana Gopālā (1978)

Actor: Shreeram Lagoo

Lyricist: Gajanan Digambar Madgulkar

Music: Ram Kadam

https://youtu.be/KT8eGaz3PH4

Lyrics

Jaya jaya Viṭṭhala, jaya Hari Viṭṭhala

Win, win, Viṭṭhala, win, Hari Viṭṭhala!

Ghabāḍa miḷū de malā re Khaṇḍobā, ghabāḍa miḷū de malā

Araṃ bhaṇḍārā vāhīna tulā re Khaṇḍobā, ghabāḍa miḷū de malā

Let me hit the jackpot, Khaṇḍobā, let me hit the jackpot

Hey, I'll offer you turmeric powder, Khaṇḍobā, let me hit the jackpot

Ghabāḍa miḷū de hyālā re Khaṇḍobā, ghabāḍa miḷū de hyālā

Let him hit the jackpot, Khaṇḍobā, let him hit the jackpot

Bārā kosāṃvara eka vāḷī āhe

Vāḷī āhe

Tithe eka Māravāḷī āhe

Māravāḷī āhe

Tyāçā moṭhā vāḷā āhe

Bāppā, Bāppā, Bāppā

An tyāvara māhā daroḷā āhe

Agaṃ gaṃ gaṃ gaṃ gaṃ gaṃ

Pāvū de maṇabhara sonaṃ malā re, bhaṇḍārā vāhīna tulā

Twelve kosa away, there's a hamlet

A hamlet!

There lives a Rajasthani trader

Rajasthani trader!

He owns a big mansion

Oh God, oh God, oh God!

And I'm planning a raid on it!

Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey!

Let me find a sackful of gold, I'll offer you turmeric powder!

Ghabāḍa miḷū de hyālā re Khaṇḍobā, ghabāḍa miḷū de hyālā

Let him hit the jackpot, Khaṇḍobā, let him hit the jackpot

Maṇabhara sonaṃ hyāle pāhije

Koṇāsāṭhī

Svataḥsāṭhī

An Khaṇḍobāle deṇāra kāya

Hayada nusatī dona

Cimaṭī

Bāppā, hā saudā zhālā

A sackful of gold he wants

For whom?

For himself!

And to Khaṇḍobā he'll give what?

Turmeric, just two ...

Pinches!

God, now that's a deal!

Lekarū hoū de male gaṃ Marīmāī, lekarū hoū de male

Bakarū kāpīna tule gaṃ Marīmāī, lekarū hoū de male

Let me have a child, Marīmāī, let me have a child

I'll chop a goat for you, Marīmāī, let me have a child

Lekarū hoū de hilā gaṃ Marīmāī, bakarū kāpila tulā

Let her have a child, Marīmāī, she'll chop a goat for you

Mī an māhyā dona savatī

Dona savatī

Koṇyā ekīlehī nāhī saṃtati

Araṃ raṃ raṃ raṃ hī tara vāñjhī zhālī re

Tyāhīñcyā ādhī kurpā kara māhyāvaratī

Hicyāvaratī

Loṭāṅgaṇa ghālato tuhyā pāyāṃvaratī

I and my two co-wives

Two co-wives!

Not even any one of us has progeny

Hey, hey, hey, hey, then that makes her barren!

Ahead of them, have mercy on me

On her!

I prostrate myself at your feet

Lekarū hoū de hilā gaṃ Marīmāī, bakarū kāpila tulā

Let her have a child, Marīmāī, she'll chop a goat for you

Dagaḍāçā deva gheta nāhī, deta nāhī

Pāpācī sātha kuṇī karata nāhī

Navasānaṃ pora koṇāle hota nāhī

Māṇūsa khādāḷa, Deva kāhī māṅgata nāhī

Deva mhanatā kā dhoṇḍyālā

Dhāna mhanatā kā koṇḍyālā

A stone idol doesn't receive, doesn't give

No spirit is an accomplice to evil deeds

From sacrifice a child isn't born to anyone

Humans like to eat; God doesn't ask for any

Do you mistake God in a stone?

Do you mistake grain in chaff?

Jaya jaya Viṭṭhala, jaya Hari Viṭṭhala

Win, win, Viṭṭhala, win, Hari Viṭṭhala!

Lipstick on your collar - Connie Francis

Songwriters: George Goehring, Edna Lewis

Where the lipstick is the tell-tale sign of her man being unfaithful ( this would fit well in the infidelity theme thread as well!)

Lipstick on your collar told a tale on you

Lipstick on your collar said you were untrue

Bet your bottom dollar, you and I are through

'Cause lipstick on your collar told a tale on you, yeah

You said it belonged to me, made me stop and think

And then I noticed yours was red, mine was baby pink

Who walked in but Mary Jane, lipstick all a mess

Were you smoochin' my best friend? Guess the answer's yes
