Whereas Zoya had the incessant need of shoving Agastya into every frame and left no stone unturned to try n phase out Vedang, Dot or Mihir.

Sid Malhota is legendary compared to these losers in Archies. Even in SOTY, he had star quality and I don’t think he was bad at all. 10 years later we have newcomers that are worse, despite being born and brought up on film sets

There's something about her and her films that I really don't like.

KJo is a smart producer. Heknows how to make use of an actor's strengths rather than focus on his limitations. Varun was obviously the better actor among the two. So he got the sob-story with some space for showing his emotional skills. And his character got to be a successful rockstar. Siddharth is the quintessential romantic hero. So he got the girl. KJo was fair to both his newbie heroes.

P.S Alia was forgettable in the film and her character was nothing more than a trophy to be fought over. So I won't bring her to the discussion.

Never was a fan of Zoya's work. It always feels emotionally hollow even though her movies deal with quite emotion heavy subjects. I could never connect to her work. There always appears a barrier between her movies and the real world. KJo is the same to a certain extent, but atleast you could connect to his characters emotionally, if not the overall story. You become invested in their journey.

It's the privileged upbringing they have had that shows up in their films. They could easily dispel that with some effort and getting to know the world better, but much like other nepos, they never even try in that direction.

Emotional disconnect. That's the word. I could appreciate Zoya's movies on a superficial level. But they never move me emotionally. I don't care if the characters die or suffer or are heartbroken.

Luck by Chance is a wonderful satire on the Hindi Film Industry. But her characters are cynical and selfish. Farhan's character cheated on Konkana's character. But I could never drum up sympathy because she herself was willingly part of the casting couch with a married producer. Similarly with Priyanka and Farhan from Dil Dhadakne do. He had to suffer for choosing to be bought by her father. But no he gets to eat the cake and have it too. Similar with Ranveer in Gully Boy. Abhay Deol's treatment of Kalki was terrible. The poor woman was only a bit over possessive and clingy.
