Zoya comes from privilege… that leaves you with a limited worldview. This is why almost all her work except gully boy comes across as pretentious. I don’t find the mediocrity of archies surprising.

Zoya definitely tried but the actors she got to work with, could only muster so much. But still the blame is on her because getting the right actors is part of her job. She put the mediocre actors at the forefront and pushed the actual talented actors to the background. Serves her right!

Credit when it's due, Kjo made sure to that the outsider Sid Malhotra got the best role in SOTY over Varun, Alia that's on him that he couldn't improve his acting or dancing skills in over a decade

Whereas Zoya had the incessant need of shoving Agastya into every frame and left no stone unturned to try n phase out Vedang, Dot or Mihir.
