Not in most countries, apparently. They routinely take the lord’s name in vain to carry out the most horrific acts. Easy to fool gullible people when you throw God in the mix. Religion is the opium of the poor after all.

In democracies, it is...

Opium doesn't make aggressive...but poverty - especially made by non-poor bigots - makes aggressive (sadly the frustration is carried out against the own poor folks - far too often)

I prefer to state that religion is used as a tool for whatever agendas those have who don't respect what religion should represent...

This is just my experience. The poor don't get caught up in the religious war fare. They mostly care about work, so they can put food on the table and support their family. They will listen to politicians and vote for them thinking they are good for them and their family. It is the middle class and rich that I find gets caught up in the religious war fare.

Mmmmhhhh...I still would say that it is a matter of dissatisfaction with the own life that makes people prone to look for reasons...and religious argumentation strives to present convenient reasons...

But you're right that religion is also used as a drug (opium) to not turn the poor ones against the wealthier ones...
