I think this was perhaps her plan all along. Here’s (I’ll link it too) an old interview of hers from before she even met Virat and she says in 20 years she would be retired and married.

Where do you see yourself 20 years from now?

Retired and married with children.

She was never a bad actress but I don’t know if for any of her roles we can say no one else could have done that. She always came across as a strong personality to me so I don’t believe her in laws told her not to work anymore. I think she’s genuinely happy being a mother, wife, and just doing endorsements. There were even rumors that both her and her brother wanted Tripti for the role of Jhulan but she turned it down. So she didn’t want to do that initially either. By all accounts her current status seems to be a 100% by her own choice.

Tbh, working shouldn't be the ultimate goal of human existence. In an ideal society, everyone will be able to enjoy pursuits for the sake of it and not just to earn money for survival. Hustle culture objectively is bad.

While women either get curtailed into economic dependency or working for survival. She is financially privileged enough where all her actions and pursuits don't need to focus on getting food on the table. And even if she ain't acting, she's modelling, influencing, endorsing. So, she is earning money and can live a good life irrespective of Virat.

Also, she went to Cannes where her PR couldn't have used her status as a WAG. I dunno. India mein cricketers will always have more popularity than Bolly actors but that doesn't mean all her identity is subsumed by Virat.

I don't think Anushka was overtly ambitious to be an actor. Plus she is a one note actress who can play the pixie north Indian roles. Though she did experiment, it did not work for her. She is a very average actress at bestand she was the same in all her movies. Never really stood out except in BBB and to some extent JTHJ. She is a better producer than an actor and has to continue in that sphere. She is financially privileged, has a successful husband and is fine being where she is. Good for her not every woman needs to be ambitious. Plus she and Virat seem to be in a good place

If she tries to stop being woke and insufferable in a few instances she is good.
