Barbie was an upper class toy in India limited to urban places. If you played with it as a kid then good for you. The same doesn't apply to everyone.
Honestly, I didn't/don't find Indian Barbies as sugary/shallow looking as the US Barbie versions...I only changed my mind (about US Barbie) after having watched some Barbie movies and Reese Witherspoon in Legally Blonde 😃
