All this makes us think of our own mortality to a certain extent

I never had any such issues coz I watch movies for what they are and not for the actors.

They can't all be Rajnikant and NTR romancing younger women. What hurts more is popular stars in trashy C movies. Seeing Rajesh Khanna in Sauten or Amitabh in Boom is heartbreaking.

It's a blessing to entertain people and give them joy even after you are no more. Isn't it the dream of every person out there? Immortality and eternal youth. The stars are blessed in that way.

atominis, we may have just a different approach to our past...to me, you seem to suffer for those who aren't alive anymore (or who get old)...I feel regret and sadness expressed in your writing...and fear.

My feelings are different, but I respect yours 😊

It's not exactly the same to me as I also watch movies "for the actors" (or actresses) or even for directors or book adaptations. However, I don't have any of the issues mentioned by some because my main interest always is the character involved in a story and how much I can relate to that.

So, it doesn't matter to me if a character portrayal hasn't any of the traits of previous roles, it only matters if it is relatable to the STORY narrated in the movie.

Amitji with folded hands or apologizing to his sons is such a great gesture (and exceptional for a movie culture where elders mostly are portrayed as those NOT apologizing for doing something wrong). Amitji playing that kind of father in PIKU was absolutely great and a highlight of his career as an actor... and breaking the mould by enacting an aged lover to a young woman, I found bold.

BUT I can absolutely understand that people are prone to confound the person of an actor/an actress with the roles one cherishes so much. It's a kind of adoration that is conditioned, it's not an unconditional liking for the actor's/actresse's skills.

Out of all these celebrities passing away it was divya bharti and sridevi which was hurtful

Divya and sri both successful and popular

Divyas death was more shocking that time in 1993 and the way it happened ie falling from building uff what a crude end to a rising actress 😭

Her movies are being shown almost every day on TV channels

Oh, I can be VERY sad about the death of an actor/actress or any person I know...but after the initial sadness, there only remains a lingering sadness if the death wasn't a natural one...if it wasn't the body who gave up to continue to live.

But that is a defined sadness only connected to the kind of death not to the fact of a death that occurred.

Divya's death and Sushant's belong to those I'm still sad about...

The celebrities whose death affected me recently is KK. It really felt like a blow and I kinda understood what my parents' generation felt when Kishore Kumar passed away!

KK's untimely death saddened me because it was an avoidable death... I believe... (I even feel a lingering anger)
