IDK how can anyone say BOI is biased AGAINST SRK when they have always tried to favour SRK over any other star from past or present.

BOI is very fair to SRK and has treated him lightly during Ra One underperforming as well.

Nope you wrong Atominis ji....there is a reason why I hate this disgusting site so much....the only time this site will speak positively about SRK is when they don't have a choice like in case of Pathan...otherwise they leave no stone unturned to malign and put down SRK....I have saying tis for the last 12 years and all the old members know my love for BOI...😆

I started following BOI from 2008 and I have always felt it is pro SRK and anti other stars. They favour SRK, YRF, Dharma the most.

The star who is treated most lightly and favourably by them is SRK. They have even improved verdicts of some his less known and less performing films from 90s.

IDK if their owners or editors changed now or changed slant of their content.

Amitabh gave a hit like Shahenshah when he returned after a break he took for joining politics and succeeded despite the taint and bad press he got for Bofors. He also managed to give hits like Hum and Khuda Gawah.

Technically he sort of announced his retirement as male lead after Khuda Gawah and passed baton to young gen at Filmfare stage where Sanjay Dutt etc were present.

So comparing Amitabh and SRK at same age in terms of BO makes no sense as both had entirely different era, career and life trajectory and choices.

SRK has never ever announced retirement or passed baton to new gen or hinted at giving up acting as main lead. He took first break of his career unlike say, Aamir who keeps taking gaps.

We are considering BO only. Not financial status. I spoke of finances because of films like Mrityudata you named. Amitabh signed all sorts of crap just to get out of bankruptcy. Unlike SRK who still chooses best scripts and with best banners and makers like Hirani and never had to sign up anything that came his way. Crap like Lal Badshah, Mrityudata, Sooryavansham, Kohram blah blah was bound to flop. Amitabh had to even accept second fiddle to Govinda in Bade Miyan chhote miyan just to get out of bankruptcy and clear debts. SRK has never been in that desperate position so obviously he got to work on himself and in better films which also did good at BO.

In this sense SRK has been very smart that he never got into politics at all. Did not repeat mistake of AB sr and he also managed to run a successful business and his RCE is a success unlike failed ABCL, which was perhaps ahead of its time as an idea but AB sr did not understand how to run it.

We are talking about difference in BO results due to difference in availability of means to look young and difference in choices of films also.

Amitabh chose films to survive and pay off debts at 57. SRK or any other 90s star chooses films as per his own creative satisfaction and to redefine own star image, and they select better work, not crap offered to them.

This is why I maintain comparisons are futile and baseless as criteria are different.

I am sure one day SRK can surpass DK, AB Sr and among all 90s stars it is he and Salman perhaps who have popularity to stay relevant at 60 or 70 plus like AB sr, Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan.

But for now, he has some way to go before one can say he surpassed them. Though I know he and other 90s stars are doing better than what actors of past used to do at their age. But they do better as they have better facilities than DK or AB Sr ever had.

Amitabh never even intended to make a comeback if he did not go bankrupt in first place. So how could his comebacks be compared to SRK who carefully chose scripts with best banners and best heroines? Amitabh was wearing noticeable wig at SRK's age. So let's not even compare. There was no way to look young then and get accepted as a hero.

Thanks for a civil debate. Though I know if there is one actor who has popularity that cuts across generations and nationalities or classes and can come close to surpass or equate AB Sr or DK at even 70 or 80, it is SRK (unless people indeee believe communal propaganda against him).

I hope he breaks his romantic image further and does better films. He does look good in a beard the way AB Sr does. He is far smarter and more clever than AB Sr to learn from mistakes of his rivals and seniors. The way he handled hate against him and his son, gave no bait to politicians, shows he is there for longer haul. I'd be happy to see 90s stars do as well as AB Sr and Rajinikanth did even in their 70s and at 80. SRK does have existing popularity to tap in the base of loyal audience if he plays his cards right and reinvents self.

atominis, ShahRukh obviously has another personality, another family life, another upbringing, other roots, another idea of his stardom, other affiliations to Western culture, another intelligence, other goals, another economic sense... etc., etc. ...

It's a bit boring to repeat myself but ShahRukh has NO INTEREST in surpassing anybody...and actually, he has already achieved HIS PLACE in the history of Indian Cinema...and HE RULES the Hindi filmindustry importance-wise in his profession as an actor and entertainer...he won't climb higher.. but he can still expand...and THAT he wants to do...putting his heart into showing what movies are able to do...such as UNITING people (for example).

one been secure in himself and having no interest in surpassing others never pass such hauty cocky arrogant statements on the record like this.

(someone posted a video link of his arrogant statement here in this thread for a reference)

That someone is me 😉

Your interpretation of what SRK says is very different from mine (which doesn't matter, btw.).

So no credit to the actual actors for handling their later careers well ? If Big B faced bankruptcy and some others didn’t isn’t Big B only himself to blame
