I did give credit to SRK for not going in politics at all the way Amitabh ruined his peak in politics and lost reputation in 1984 and due to Bofors and I also credit SRK for succeeding with RCE unlike Amitabh who failed with ABCL.

Read my post again.

I just said it was not fair to compare films because films that Amitabh did after Khuda Gawah were not meant for comeback AT ALL but for survival and getting outta debts. So he chose any crap that came his way, including crumb type roles in BMCM where Govinda was main star of the show.

Khans, Akki and Devgan have actually learnt well from mistakes of past actors.

I never said anything about SRK. I am sure he has his own priorities and may not even want to continue to act at 80 like say, AB Sr.

I just responded to the titles like these and comments of some fans.

Otherwise everyone knows SRK and other Khans have cemented their own place as legends and icons and are right up there in league of historic stars like AB or RK or DK.

Everyone has own goals and lifestyle, time, era, as you said. Only media and fans compare, even if stars have other priorities or are different and do not seek to outshine or outdo anyone.

I know SRK respects Amitabh and DK as seniors and role models and Amitabh himself also used to consider DK as a school of acting.

And DK himself never really started any business or did TV or worked till 80 or so. All are different.

Well said. Finally someone stated it as it is. Dilip saab and Amitabh are like universities of acting and were first ones to focus on body language, language, voice modulation, stylised acting, changing voice and mannerisms as per character.

Their stardom and iconic status stretches for 5 decades or so and across generations and that too in an era without media, social media, professional PR or media managers.

Claiming any Khan, Kumar or Roshan or whatever surpassed DK or AB is a joke. We shall see where any star is at at 80 or if they are relevant or not.

DK is someone who was called Nat Samrat and plenty of actors grew up studying him, his nuances, learnt acting from him. Amitabh and SRK themselves used to cite him as inspiration.

To suggest any Khan surpassed DK or AB Sr is preposterous. Such respect, talent, iconic, cross generational stature and versatility are earned by very rare individuals. This is same as claiming Shreya Ghoshal surpassed Lata ji.

Good post , but acting can really be a perspective thing . Like I personally think Salman was better than SRK in Karan Arjun for instance but not many will consider Salman a better actor overall .

Acting is nuances and grip of the craft, control over language, expression and body language.

Dilip Kumar, Ashok Kumar and AB sr are earliest method actors and ones to work on every aspect of the craft, including focus on even where to keep their hands or how to tilt neck or control own posture.

That level of detail was not there earlier and not in many actors after them either (except trained ones like Om Puri, Naseer, Irrfan etc who were from NSD, FTII or theatre).

So while I agree acting is subjective, still, to say some actor has surpassed DK or AB Sr, is a bit of a stretch. Especially when those actors themselves often admitted to being inspired from or learning from DK who has single handedly inspired generations of actors or young men to consider acting. Amitabh himself used to copy DK a lot before he found his own groove.

Atominis ji....sometimes I feel that BOI hates SRK so much that it deliberately pitches SRK against legends like DK and AB Sr so that people can bash him....like this article....its an age old trick...If I don't like an actor I just have to start a thread praising him...and 10 people will jump on that actor and beat him to pulp...kind of what is happening with SRK right now..🤔

SRK is getting good press all over after ages. No bashing him.

Rather I think BOI is biased AGAINST older stars or probably lacks data on old films and has always targeted Bachchan or downgraded ratings, collections and verdicts of his past films and shown Khans superior to him at his peak. BOI always brings such headlines. When Salman was at his winning streak from Dabangg to ETT, they claimed he surpassed Amitabh and Rajinikanth. When Aamir was at his winning streak from Ghajini to Dangal, they again claimed he did what even Amitabh could not do at 40 plus.

Wherever and whenever anyone succeeds or has hit streak, BOI says they surpassed Amitabh. Now they have gone a step ahead and included even DK, which is preposterous to say the least, given how he had no means to look young or fit at his age in his era.

Often Khan fans and PR have tried to claim Khans surpassed Bachchan or are biggest stars India ever saw. That just irritates. Fans of Rajinikanth do the same and claim he surpassed AB sr or DK. They should calm down.

Anyway given how everyone keeps claiming their fav was bigger than AB sr, it shows who the benchmark is, that everyone feels need to bring him down to feel better. Or compares to him even when he himself does not compare to anyone at all. Nowadays people also claim to be bigger than DK, so let it be. It is a compliment to these stars that everyone sees it as achievement to surpass them.

DK is definetly one of the pioneers of acting in indian cinema. Though i've watched only few scenes of that but can say confidently his devdas portrayal was much better than SRK's.

No two ways about it. New Devdas is garbage in front of old one. Suchitra Sen is amazing as Paro and so subtle. Not OTT like Ash. Vyjanthimala was also subtle and not as in YO face as Madhuri was as Chandramukhi and the former also dances better in classical dances. Dilip Kumar is the king in tragedy roles and the only real Devdas. SRK looks more like an angry or bitter man than tragic and hammed to no ends.

When I saw old Devdas I felt ashamed at how much standards dropped in our times with all focus on only big stars and glamour and no substance. Overacting by supporting cast like Kirron Kher, Smita Jayakar and lady who played SRK's bhabhi was even worse. Jackie was also miscast and unbearable as Chunni babu. Kirron is quite slap worthy and loud in Devdas.
