live coverage of the final encounter from Group B in the 2022 ICC T20 World Cup as Scotland and Zimbabwe square off for the final place in the Super 12s.

The first berth has been decided. West Indies have just been dumped out by Ireland, who absolutely crushed them by nine wickets with 15 balls to spare chasing a target of 147. Who will join them? Winner takes all in match two. But if there is no winner and the match gets washed out by rain, then it'll be Scotland going through with a better net run rate. But what a moment this is for Ireland, dare I say a Crictos digital collectible moment.

Ladies and gentlemen, we’ve had our first shock elimination in the 2022 T20 WC, as two-time champions West Indies crashed out in the qualifying stages after being comprehensively beaten by Ireland. Now, it is a straight shootout between Zimbabwe and Scotland to see who joins the Irish in the Super 12’s. On paper, Zimbabwe are the better side and the team in form, with veteran Sikandar Raza hitting a purple patch at just the right moment. But Scotland surprised all by beating West Indies in their opener, and their top-order looks lethal. It is a cloudy evening in Hobart, but rains should stay away. We are in for a cracker, let’s see how things pan out…

For Scotland this will be the first night game at Hobart and adapting to that will be the first challenge ahead of them. Their batting too came to the party on Wednesday against Ireland, but the bowlers were shot down by some good T20 batting. In the night game, the emphasis could well turn to their fast bowling attack given that it has come to play in both the night games so far with teams defending a target going on to win. While Zimbabwe have a slight advantage having won a game already in this fashion with their pacers, the challenge will be to do that once more on Friday in a virtual knockout game. Additionally, they will be sweating over the batting that hasn't shored up well with the exception of Sikandar Raza. After taking on all-out attacking approach with the bat, their success has been middling. And there could well be a more measured approach taken today.
