I don't mind newbies who're just starting out and obviously need the $$ to stay afloat promoting less than flattering products.

But successful and well accomplished celebs who can afford to make judicious choices still featuring in these tacky ads will always make my eye roll.

Takes me straight back to those days when Kylie Jenner use to post insta ads on diet teas and waist belts.

I don't think it's a matter of choice in certain cases. They have to endorse the brand's that sponsor their films/events. For example Virat Kohli endorses Kingfisher music CDs aks Kingfisher beer mainly because Kingfisher sponsors his team RCB, so do many cricketers promote gambling apps, especially during ipl, because these apps sponsor IPL.

Celebs be it movie, tv or sports celebs endorse anything as long as it brings them money.

They neither use not consume the products that they endorse, it is pure business.

Before there was no social media so the hypocrisy was not called out.

Now people are calling it out.

It also can be different pr or their rivals pr also works here.

As long as we educate everyone to not follow celebs blindly which is very very hard this will continue

Celebs should never preach.

Bin Pende ke Lote hai sab. Preach but never practice is their mantra. Nobody should take them seriously.

Alia not consuming sugar is her personal choice. She isn't doing it for health reasons but to maintain a toned body which is required for her work.

There seems to be another piece in the puzzle that we probably aren't aware of.

Their incentive can't only be money cuz there must be another thing they're trying to balance -- like maintaining relationships with the top guns of these brands they probably don't wanna upset.... for a whole bunch of reasons like sponsorships for starters.

Either way, it ends up looking weird and hypocritical when celebrities who hit the gym daily and watch their diet closely promote stuff they wouldn't be caught dead with.

I'm sure they don't care about the public flak it gets them as long as they're taking care of their priorities either. So who cares if people bash them for their seemingly poor choices?!
