Started off rafi doesnt mean he wanted to be rafi , it was need of an hour , because during that time people needed something like kishore or rafi ,, during that time people were listening to copies alone be it kumar sanu , abhijeet (kishore kumar) copies , infact kumar sanu became successful because his voice used to sound like kishore kumar and that is the reason he got his first break although the film never happened it was Amitabh film but it created the hype that this man sings like kishore kumar and it helped kumar sanu to get noticed , althogh kumar sanu has also sung many cover versions of kishore kumar with T Series

and Muhammad aziz , shabir kumar were m rafi copies, they all were copies

regarding udit narayan he also followed rafi school of thought although his initial voice used to sound like Pankaj udas during QSQT,
