Marna teri gali mein, jeena teri gali mein 💔👏

This song I adore like anything as if it is my soul's song. The melody, the in-depth meaning, the voice modulation by Lata .... everything ...simply everything is superb, just listen to this soul-stirring solo. Thanks for sharing this song Lizzie. 🤗

Excellent tribute to Naushad. All songs are classics, gems of that era.❤️

Suddenly I saw this video, sharing it with you all. Meena Kumari was an accomplished actress, Kumari was also a poet and a playback singer. She sang in some of her early films as a child artist and to her poems which came out in an album, I Write, I Recite (1971). Meena Kumari also designed the costumes in her final landmark film Pakeezah. Meena Kumari, Geeta Dutt, and South Indian 50s&60s tragic queen Mahanati Savitri ...I don't know why , I always feel like they are the epitome of talent, queens of creativity and the fallen soldiers of life.

The thankful heart is always close to the creative forces of the Universe.

A heart has its multiple facets of daily music. Respect a genuinely good heart. The inevitable death, associated with Peace. Serenity. Contentment. A mixture of these creates the unmatched feeling that overwhelms any person. Look at this ----

---------------

The last line that Rafi sahab sat near Meena Kumari and sung this song is 100% wrong as Rafi was abroad when Meena Kumari died. He has also expressed his condolences while paying the tribute on Radio that he could not visit her and pay tribute to her dead body. It is still available on archives of all India radio. It was also recorded on then Binaca Geetmala by Ameen Sayani. Good information about rest of the matter.

I woke up this morning with this song in my head

Ghalib's poetry set to music by the fabulous Ghulam Mohammad and sung by the marvellous Suraiyya! Stuff of legend!

Aah ko chahiye ek umar asar hone tak

kaun jeeta hai tere zulf ke sar hone tak?

aashiqui sabr talab aur tamanna betaab

dil ka kya rang karoon khoon-e-jigar hone tak?

Mirza Ghalib has been one of the greatest poets of the world and he was always in a league of his own. I cannot compare his poetry to that of anyone else because of his down-to-earth personality, with no element of elitism anywhere and the happy-go-lucky approach to life

He always remained carefree in his life and the economic hardships never took their toll on this legendary Shayari. He never bothered about his future and enjoyed every moment of his life which witnessed the decay of the Mughal empire and the establishment of the English rule in India during the 19th century A.D. Born in 1797 and died in 1869, Mirza Ghalib saw and felt the passage of an era in this nation. Perhaps the turbulence and upheavals of that period also affected his personality, his thoughts and ultimately his poetry.

The way there is no mention of Anarkali in history but the Salim-Anarkali saga is immortal for the lovers and the creators of fictional work, the same way there is no mention of Mothi Begum in the history or the biography of Mirza Ghalib but the authors have taken their liberty in creating her to make a touching love story. I don't know whether or not it is true but the thing widely acknowledged is that every great male artist is bound to have a relationship with some female who acts as his muse.

Thanks Priya for this musical treat.

Another two great songs from that movie are ---
