I was gonna say that he's younger but back when he started in the 90s Suneil Shetty was a superstar.. Suneil faded away into 2000s but Saif was pretty popular in 2000s

Also Saifu ki to life kab se set hai na paise ka tension na kuch aur.. free time main awein movies karleta hai..

Agree with the post but Shetty was never ever a super star, don't know how many solo hits he has given but I believe most of his hit movies were multistarrers

Suniel Shetty was never a Superstar. He never gave a solo Hit in his career, although he has some big Hits as multistarrers. But as a solo hero Saif has a better track record.

Saif also is a much better actor than Suneil which is partly a reason for him still getting work.

Because he is ready to do any work offered to him and has reduced his price.

He is more affordable compared to actors of his generation who mostly still charge a bomb to work.

He is media savvy, milks real life controversies to stay relevant, is well connected himself and due to his family.

He is versatile unlike Sunil Shetty who still does action roles and has lost comic timing he had in Hera Pheri days.

He has maintained himself well unlike Akshaye Khanna etc.

So whenever there is need for an older actor he is available to do the role at cheaper price compared to other Khans, Ajay Devgan and Akshay Kumar.

He is not picky or selective. Does whatever that is offered to him. So people flock to him.

He never went as irrelevant as other 90s starlets like Vivek Mushran, Rahul and Akshaye Khanna etc.

He will keep getting work as he is moderately popular, has no demands or hang ups and is affordable bet when someone wants a senior star in their film or web series.

Nope. Sunil Shetty was one of biggest stars in 90s. Usually in top 5 or 6 when Saif was NOWHERE as a main lead. He was famous for his action films.

I am amused how people judge him based on post 2000 record and ignore his solo hits like Gopi Kishen, Krishna, Rakshak, Vinashak, Sapoot, Bhai in 90s. Among masses and in single screen theatres his action films enjoyed good popularity.

If he was not commercially viable as an action hero he would not be chosen for Border, Mohra, Waqt Hamara Hai either.

He faded only after 2001 when his action films did not do well and even comedies like Hera Pheri flopped. He shifted to business ventures then and became a successful entrepreneur, restaurateur. In last few years he has done films only sporadically to fund his business ventures.

Just because he did not market himself nor upgraded his acting skills it does not mean he was not a viable star in 90s. He had MORE solo hits than Saif had in 90s. And was bigger star than Saif in 90s.

He matched Akshay and Sunny in each scene of Border, Mohra and Waqt Hamara Hai unlike Saif who was a funny sidekick to Akshay in Main Khiladi tu Anari.

I find it laughable how post 2000s audience passes judgement on past actors without bothering to update themselves on the reality of any era.

Saif was never a bankable star. No solo hits except perhaps Hum Tum. His doing films now does not mean he was a bigger star than Sunil.

1. Because he is cheap

2. Accepts most that comes his way

3. Nepotism

4. Decent actor

Saif is Akki at a low level (does whatever comes his way) - Abhishek is Aamir at the same level (he still chooses what he wants to do/interests him).

Love Hrithik and he is a star but sorry, Saif is a tremendous talent. I will say this- his choices of films are dubious and I feel always made unintelligently and a bit of "let's try everything and pray something sticks", rather than rationally.

But he has stood the test of time because the man can act.

If you read my post you'll notice I said Shetty was never a super star in reply to the post I was quoting

I was not comparing him to Ali Khan or anything... I never once mentioned him

And I stand by my stand that Shetty was never ever a super star, not even close
