Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has once again showered praise on director Aditya Dhar after watching his spy thriller Dhurandhar. The outspoken filmmaker believes Dhar’s success has shaken the industry so much that many are quietly hoping he stumbles.
In a recent conversation, Varma suggested that Dhar’s work has pushed filmmakers out of their comfort zones, forcing them to rethink the way large scale action films are made. According to him, that disruption has not gone down well with many in the industry.
Ram Gopal Varma says Aditya Dhar changed the grammar of filmmaking
Speaking about Dhar’s impact, Varma said the filmmaker has altered the very language of cinematic storytelling. He explained that the scale and execution of Dhurandhar have raised expectations for commercial cinema across industries.
Varma remarked that Dhar has changed how stories are told on screen and believes the ripple effect is already visible in multiple film industries. He pointed out that several big budget action films in Telugu cinema are currently undergoing reshoots because filmmakers now feel the need to match the new benchmark.
According to Varma, such large scale reshoots mean massive financial pressure for producers, which is why some people in the industry feel uncomfortable with Dhar’s rising influence.
Warning for Aditya Dhar and Yami Gautam
Varma also spoke about Dhar’s wife, actor Yami Gautam, who recently earned appreciation for her performance in the courtroom drama Haq. The film also features Emraan Hashmi and Sheeba Chaddha in key roles.
While praising the couple’s achievements, Varma added a cautionary note. He claimed that success often attracts intense scrutiny in the film industry and said many people are waiting for them to make a mistake.
According to Varma, both Dhar and Yami will need to move forward carefully because the spotlight around them is now brighter than ever.
Dhurandhar sequel builds massive buzz
Dhar’s upcoming film Dhurandhar: The Revenge is already one of the most talked about Hindi releases in recent times. The sequel brings back Ranveer Singh as the spy Hamza, also known as Jaskirat.
The film also features an ensemble cast including R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal and Sanjay Dutt. The first part turned into a massive blockbuster, reportedly earning around Rs1300 crore worldwide after its release last year.
The sequel will now release on March 19 and is set for a box office clash with Pawan Kalyan’s highly anticipated film Ustaad Bhagat Singh. With both films carrying enormous expectations, the upcoming showdown has already sparked intense excitement among fans.
Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has praised Aditya Dhar after watching Dhurandhar, saying his filmmaking has changed the grammar of storytelling across industries. Varma claimed Dhar’s success has made many in the film industry jealous and forced them out of their comfort zones. He also warned that people are waiting for Dhar and his wife Yami Gautam to stumble.
