Sunil's main focus has always been his business ventures. Not acting. His forte was action. He did not try to market himself or be more versatile. His comic timing is also okay. He made enough to start his business ventures in 90s and since 2000s his main focus was his businesses and investments. Unlike Saif who has reinvented himself in 2000s as an actor, and his chief source of earning is still acting, not some business, which is why he focuses more on trying different genres to get work and stay relevant as actor. But his post 2001 success nowhere makes him a bigger star than Sunil was in 90s. Saif was never a superstar or a solo hero.

No you never did

Somebody else did and I was quoting that person

And I didn't insinuate that Saif is a bigger star... Actually I am surprised just like the TM

Khans were the superstars

Who were in the 4,5,6 position during the 90s and early 2000s ? I am guessing Sunny Deol, Govinda, Akshay (in no particular order)

Sunny Deol was in top 3 in 90s. He had more hits than Aamir, Saif for sure and often outgrossed other stars.

He was the only one who had guts to release his films on same dates as Khans. He was never #4 or #5. He was doing better than Akshay, Sunil types as well.

And what is more admirable is the fact that he did it without iota of PR. He was never media savvy at all nor marketed his films. He hardly attended award shows nor did concerts. He just worked in films and that is it.

Border and Gadar easily beat all films of their years of release. Ghayal was neck to neck with Dil in 1990.

As an actor also he overshadowed Salman in Jeet. The only time a Khan overshadowed Sunny was SRK in Darr. Aamir never had guts to work with Sunny anyway.

You are right about Akshay, Govinda being among other top 5 heroes. Govinda always remained in top 5 till 1999 thanks to his comedies.

Ajay was a fairly stable grossing star in 90s as well. Usually in top 10 even if not top 3 necessarily.

Top 6 in 90s would likely be (just my opinion):

1. Sunny Deol

2. Shah Rukh Khan

3. Madhuri Dixit

4. Salman Khan

5. Aamir Khan

6. Govinda

If we remove Madhuri and only count male actors then Sanjay Dutt would probably take the sixth spot.

In 90s Saif survived by playing second fiddle to likes of Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty even Aditya Pancholi. Most of his solo films were trash just like thet are today!

He supposedly reinveted himself in DCH but its evident how it worked out!

He ia relevant because 1. Nepotism 2.Royal status 3.Kareena's husband 4.Taimurs father 5. Bollywood elites prasing him for no apparent reason

Why isn't Soha relevant and getting films coz of nepotism? Is she adopted? Just curious coz that's your #1 point. Funny how it works for one sibling but not the other 😉

The Top stars in 1990s were

Amitabh Bachchan

Sunny Deol

Madhuri Dixit

Amitabh bachchan was still the Superstar and Madhuri was Female Superstar. Sunny Deol was biggest name after Amitabh Bachchan.

Sanjay Dutt, Anil Kapoor and Govinda were bigger than Aamir, Salman , Akshay, Ajay back then who were slowly replacing them and becoming bankable. Salman became a Superstar only after 2010, he was not even in top 5 in 2000-2010.

In the later half of 1990s, SRK came, got a few blockbusters and started calling himself King khan. And thats how the Khan grouping started. Today, he has not given a single hit in almost a decade and yet lives off the success of the other two khans 😆

Soha would have had no career at all if it was not for nepotism.

Soha doesn't have a career. She has a debut and a movie here and there. Hardly the case with Saif. So why the discrepancy?

Riiiiiight. Because in this dog eat dog world...where nobody can guarantee their own success, and would sell out their own family to make a hit.. the "other 2 khans" would be sharing credit of their own films WITH Srk their competitor in khairat..out of the goodness of their hearts? Right, makes total sense.

The fact is Amitabh was over by 1986.tops.and 90s saw his ABCL flopping. It wasn't until KBC in 2001 that he saw a reinvention.

SRK ruled from 1995 to 2015, give or take, as the no 1 star, Not even Aamir or Sallu Bhai could stop that. That is just a fact and the box office records speak for themselves. Please don't let your anti-Khan bias blind you to that fact.
