any specific reason for BD support Pak this time around ?

I remember a jamaana... like loong loong ago .. few million years ago when social media didn't exist ... subcontinent teams used to support each other.. it was like... whatever happens, we would celebrate if an Asian team makes it to finals or wins any major tournament.

as an Indian supporter - first support is India, if India loses - next is either Sri Lanka or Pakistan depending upon their liking for players - Jayasurya fans go for SL, Wasim Akram/Waqar Younis fans supported Pak. As a disgruntled Indian match viewer - watching Jayasurya thrashing all the useless Indian bowlers all over Pak, I was a staunch supporter of Pakistan, in fact some of my friends & teachers used to call me Shahid Afridi - my hair style was similar to his - jumping up & down while bowling - mind you, I had never seen Afridi until they called me that, Afridi was new on the block with his 37 ball 100, I heard about the score but never seen him.

as SL supporter - most used to support Pak, followed by India - if SL didn't make it. Pak had good bowlers & decent batters, India had batters & no bowlers to win you the matches 🤣

as Pak supporter - they used to support India or SL - it was divided, wing people used to support SL - while genuine fans used to support India until Jayasurya's 1996 storm, when it was divided to support either SL or India, if Pak crashes out of the tourney.

Look at the present day... we are like out for each other's blood on social media. I have seen people from all the sides commenting - we don't care if our wins or loses but this other Asian team shouldn't win, how pessimistic people have become

nah we don't have any rivalry - infact NZ robbed us in ICC Champions Trophy final too , robbed because we were on course to win when our bowlers decided, we have taken enough wickets, rest will get themselves out - when Chris Cairns & Chris Harris put on 100 or 150+ partnership for 6th or 7th wicket & won the match🤣 We've pathetic record against NZ in ICC tournaments.

Sydney test - monkeygate saga was the start of the rivalry, until then ... people just considered it just another match 😆 Since then a lot has happd between the sides 😆 Ganguly's fans would say the Kolkata test as the start of rivalry, the Dravid-Laxman partnership one 😆

yep yaar.. I stopped watching cricket religiously after 2011 🤣 Until then I wouldn't even miss a county match, knew almost all the teams players by-heart 🤣 since 2011, I have hardly watched a complete match irrespective of the format, just catch up highlights.. And yeah I am not 40 or 50 or 60 year old buddha yet 🤣

yeah i get what u r saying! tbh i started watching cricket from 2011 so idk much about 1990s cricket. even in 2011 there was still friendly equations between asian fans, i remember my cousin told me when Bangladesh was new in cricket(in early 2000s they got test status) a lot of Bangladeshis loved supporting India and Pakistan.

Tbh after 2014 the popularity of social media let fans say whatever they want to which led to conflicts between fans of two different countries.

Even now Indian and Pakistani fans are fighting but the players r friendly with each other. Even Bangladeshi and Sri Lankan fans fights with each other(after the nidahas trophy incident).

Well most BD fans has always supported Pakistan over India and SL.
