Gangs of Somnath: The Beginning

Author's Note: I was fooling around with a couple of other users on Twitter, mainly Anu, Rexie, and Ruhi, and we all discussed how an action/adventure story line with Pandya Store would be like. Featuring the beloved Pandya and Seth families as the central characters. Enjoy this re-telling, but a big warning for you, Dhara and her family will be the main antagonists in this story while Janardhan Seth will be the beloved hero that's running the ropes! This will not be a traditional story with dialogues and the stuff, but more of a big, big summary.

Based on reaction, I might continue the story as the episodes progress 😂

____________________________________________________________________

The Story Begins in Gandhinagar c. 1990s

Young Janardhan Seth was enrolled into Gandhinagar's police academy. He was the top student, with excellent grades and a charismatic personality. While there he meets and falls in love with Prasuti (Prafulla's sister and Raavi's mother) who is a classmate of his. But, whenever he thought of expressing his love, he would become shy and flustered. Regardless, he develops a soft corner for Prasuti and plans to tell his family about her so they could get married.

Unfortunately, when he returns to Somnath, he learns of his arranged marriage with Kalyani. Apparently, his sister was attempting to enter into politics, and in order to make her political bid, he had to marry Kalyani, otherwise Kalyani's father was not willing to support Kamini. After coming back to the academy, he plans to tell Prasuti of his love, without fail, but he becomes shocked when his best friend, Daksh, proposes to Prasuti. Realizing he would've lost regardless, Janardhan swallows his pride and marries a woman he neither loves nor cares for.

As his sister builds up her political career, Janardhan works as an undercover agent, doing whatever he can to dig up the dirty details of his sister's political opponents. And in-between missions, he manages to visit Prasuti and Daksh, to make sure they are alright. Despite losing out on love, Janardhan is happy to see that Daksh is taking care of Prasuti well.

Flash forward a few years into the future, Prasuti announces that she is pregnant. Janardhan realizes it is time to move on, and decides he will try to start a new with his own relationship. His wife becomes pregnant herself, and Janardhan believes all is well. After Prasuti gives birth to Raavi, Janardhan goes to visit his friends, and unfortunately the group goes through a near death experience. Janardhan saves baby Raavi, but he is regretful he is unable to save his best friends. As he attends his friends' funeral, he promises to look after their daughter, in the best way he can.

Prafulla, Prasuti's sister, assumes guardianship of Raavi, and Janardhan is thrilled to know that Prafulla lives in the same town as him. He returns to Somnath, secretly watching Raavi from afar, making sure all her needs were taken care of.

Kalyani gives birth to a daughter a few months later. Janardhan never tells her about Raavi, and feels guilty about buying 'R' themed presents and hiding it from her. Now that he has a daughter, he suggests that they name their daughter Rishita, as he is able to buy presents without the need of hiding it from his wife. Kalyani agrees to this.

A few years pass (Keerthi was born too), and during that time, Janardhan tells his undercover police squad (i.e., those "goons") that they need to call Raavi, "Somnath ki sabse sundar ladki." His squad is confused because they thought he would've hyped up Rishita, but like always, they learned that it was useless to question Janardhan. Slowly, the rumor of Raavi being the most beautiful infiltrates the people of Somnath, and eventually, Raavi herself is thrilled about her beauty. She shouts to everyone passing by, from her balcony, about how they should be "blessed" to see her gracing them with her beauty everyday, and Janardhan could only look at her happiness with amusement.

He was convinced he was living the most perfect iteration of his life, and he didn't think anything could go wrong. Unfortunately, while he watched all his daughters grow, there was another problem brewing in Somnath, threatening his peace and livelihood.

Somnath c. 2000s

Darshan Pandya is a man of honor. Despite opening his store, Pandya Store, for only a few years, he's made a name for himself. He's never stole a single dime. He's never cheated another. And for those reasons, the people of Somnath supported him and his family. His four sons, especially Shiva, looked up to Darshan.

As his store became more popular, his wife suggests he open other branches across the state. Darshan agrees as this would be helpful for all sons in the future. He begins to build his business relationships, and in the process, he realizes that something strange is simmering in Somnath. Businesses that used to flourish are somewhat struggling right now. Not the one to let a problem be left unsolved, Darshan slowly speaks to people, trying to figure out what's been happening in Somnath. He collects evidence and creates a folder filled with information of corrupt deals. He plans to submit the file to the police but becomes busy with other things.

One day, as Janardhan is observing Raavi from afar, he bumps into Darshan, causing Darshan and Janardhan to drop all the things in their hand. A few of the papers get mixed, Darshan collecting a few of Kalyani's doodles, and Janardhan collecting evidence to some of the most critical black market transactions the gang in Somnath were a part of. Janardhan thinks nothing of it, going back to observing little Raavi, and he is surprised to see how similar she is to Prasuti.

One night, when Darshan goes to the police to submit evidence, he finds a woman, Alpana, stranded on the street. He gives her a lift, and they fall into a conversation where Darshan innocently reveals all the strange things he had been observing in Somnath. He tells her about the evidence he collected, and how he is planning on giving up the evidence to the police. Alpana becomes shocked, but before she could do anything, Darshan and her arrive at her destination, where there are a ton of people surrounding them. Unfortunately, Darshan gets a call from Suman, asking him to come home soon as Krish, their youngest, was spiking a fever. Darshan leaves without submitting the evidence, and Alpana glares at him as he drives away. She was the woman running the entire black market in Somnath, and now that Darshan threatened her empire, she was planning on getting back at him.

Alpana slowly observes the Pandya family, and during the process, she pulls strings to destroy their business. Luckily, due to his intelligence, Darshan was able to escape the first few attempts she made, but Jagat was not as successful. Seeing Jagat's troubles, Prafulla became restless. She began asking him to ask Darshan for money. The woman continues to trouble the Pandya family just after Darshan takes out a loan for Jagat and Prafulla. Darshan realizes he is unable to cope with all the recent troubles, but he wonders whether it is related to the illegal businesses that have been happening in Somnath. He decides to go back to the police, but being cautious, he also copies everything into a small microchip, and just when he wonders where to hide the chip, his child Shiva comes to the store. Getting an idea, Darshan calls Shiva over, and they buy a Rudraksh necklace where Darshan hides the chip in. Young Shiva is proud to get a gift from his father, and he promises to treasure the necklace always.

As he drives back home with Shiva, he doesn't realize how one of Alpana's goons bumped into him, causing him to become injected with a poison. He goes home and learns of Jagat and Prafulla's actions of cheating him on his money, and before he could address them, he suddenly gets a heart attack. Realizing that something may have happened on the way, he tried to tell Suman to be more vigilant, but just as the words were escaping from his mouth, he passed away, his sons Gautam and Shiva watching the horrible sight. Disturbed by his father's death, Shiva promises to avenge his father, even deciding he would bring ruin to Jagat and Prafulla, mistakenly thinking they were the cause of his father's death.

Alpana is thrilled. She plans to go to Darshan's house to grab that file once and for all, but she realizes that she is needed back abroad. She leaves her two children, Hardik and Dhara, back in Somnath, earning herself the title of Bhagodi from the people, and just before she leaves, she tells her children about the missing file, and both her children promise to get it back.

Next Part: Hardik attempts to get the file back, Dhara's wedding to Gautam, the missing file is found, and Janardhan realizes that he has a new enemy in town.

MY SPOT!

-----

HAHAHAHA I LOVE THIS!

10000000 better than the family drama genre.

I love the nuances you added here:

- Daksh and Jaanu were BFFs 😭

- The naming of the girls with R❤️

- Jaanu being the reason behind Raavi's tag of Somnath's sabse sundar ladki

- Shiva's Chain is the key! 😈

- I finally know what actually happend to Darshan 🥺

- Hardik and Dhara knew the whole time 😡

The precap you gave for the next part has me waiting! Honestly I'm going to watch the show exactly with this POV from today and pick up any easter eggs the makers plant linking to this AU.

Gangs of Somnath: The Great Wedding

Somnath c. 2000-2010s

To help his mother succeed in her mission, Hardik becomes good friends with the likeable Gautam. Because of the new friendship, Hardik is invited into the Pandya house. He begins to sift through the house the best he can, but there's one room he can never enter--Suman's room. When he can't find the file himself, Dhara decides she will take matters into her own hands. She enters into Gautam's life, taking care of his brothers to win brownie points from Gautam. Out of all the brothers, Shiva trusts her most, especially after he realizes how kind she is. Seeing Shiva's smile, especially after Darshan's death, Gautam begins to trust Dhara as well.

As she slowly infiltrates into the Pandya family, the one person she can never win over is Suman. And despite how much that old woman angered her for calling her "Bhagodi ki beti" Dhara held it all in, promising to teach the woman a lesson after she had the files. But because she was unable to win over Suman, Dhara and Hardik reach a stand still. Meanwhile, Gautam and Anita fall into their own romance. As Gautam became distracted with Anita, Hardik and Dhara had even less opportunity to go to the Pandya house, so Dhara comes up with a plan to ruin their relationship.

Despite being a "friend," she spread a rumor in town that she and Gautam shared something more. Unfortunately, Anita and Gautam became engaged. Knowing that she would never get the files if Gautam married Anita, Dhara makes sure Prafulla realizes how poor the Pandya family is, and she even passed the message to Anita. Luckily, both women fell for the trap and the wedding was canceled, and just like they planned before, Hardik approaches Gautam, with the offer that he could marry Dhara. Though shocked, Gautam agrees because he trusts his two best friends. Dhara enters the house, Shiva being the happiest of the entire lot.

Despite having a rough start, Dhara manages to enter into Suman's room, fooling everyone with the idea that she was taking "care" of Suman. While Suman slept, Dhara pulled the file out with happiness. She never planned on staying in the Pandya House, hence why she had no interest in pursuing a relationship with Gautam. She submitted the files to her mother, and Alpana yells at her when she realizes there are some missing files. Alpana orders Dhara to stay in the Pandya House to figure out where the other files were as Darshan never went to the police station. As much as she doesn't want to, Dhara realizes she has to start a "relationship" with Gautam if she wants to have a worry free marriage. Because she knows this is not a permanent situation, Dhara decides to be on birth control to prevent herself from having a long-term relationship with the Pandya family, and even tells Gautam his brothers mean "more" than any children she would have with him. Soft Gautam falls for her lies.

Meanwhile, Rishita wonders whether her father loves her. At school, she often saw how other fathers bought gifts for their children or played with their children. But Rishita herself never experienced the same. One day, as she passes Pandya Store, she sees Raavi laughing as she played with Shiva and Dev. She saw her father looking over to the store multiple times and wondered why the family was so special and important to her father. Rishita goes home in dejection, and unknown to her, her father was watching the three children, blood boiling as Raavi latched onto Dev. Janardhan did not understand what Raavi saw in the thin, scrawny Dev, and before he could march over and pull Raavi away, Shiva poured juice over her, stopping Raavi's actions. Though he wanted to punish Shiva too for hurting Raavi, he was happy that Raavi kept to herself... at least until Dev rushed over towards her.

While at home, Rishita goes to Janardhan's room, placing a small drawing she did in art class on his desk, and before she could leave the room, she could hear Janardhan storming into the house. Quickly hiding under the table, Rishita didn't realize she caused a few files to fall from her father's desk. Janardhan entered his room, engaged in a heated conversation about how the Pandya family needed to learn a "lesson." He tells his secret cover agents to do whatever they could to bring ruin to the family, and Rishita morosely wonders whether her father would pay attention to her if she was a trained police officer as well. After cutting the call, Janardhan picks up the papers from the ground and storms off to meet his sister so she could use her political power to stop the Pandya family from flourishing. After he leaves, Rishita decides she will do her part to mess with the Pandya family. But unlike her father's special agents, she would come up with a plan that would crumble the family's existence. All to make her father happy.

Rishita secretly observes the family, noting down everything from every family member. She knows what makes each member happy, sad, angry, and she resolves to use all her information on them against them in the future. Meanwhile, Kamini and Janardhan are confused to see the store flourish despite doing all they can to bring it to ruin. As they go through all the commands they've given to their underlings, Kamini accidentally opens up the file containing the evidence that Darshan collected. Kamini becomes shocked, and together, Janardhan and Kamini piece together that the Pandya Store is somehow linked to the biggest gang that Somnath has. Knowing how Raavi is intimately connected to the family, Janardhan makes it his goal to reveal all the bad things the Pandya family was involved in as well as keep Dev away from Raavi. And Kamini realizes that exposing the Pandya family will help her advance in her political career.

_____________________________________________________________

Somnath c. 2020s

Janardhan sponsors a scholarship for Dev, just so Dev can pack up his bags and leave Raavi. He also sponsors a scholarship for Raavi, at the best possible school in all of Gujarat, and luckily Raavi takes up on the offer despite not having any interest to leave Somnath. He is happy knowing that Dev was far away from his daughters, and for a few years, he relaxes, focusing all his efforts in collecting evidence as best he could.

Rishita, meanwhile, follows Dev at his school, while completing the training one of her father's co-workers was giving her (including driving a tractor since secret agents should be able to drive anything should the job demand it). Despite not knowing the entire situation with the Pandya family, she knows that there is something sketchy about the family, especially about Dhara bhabi. And, she figured approaching Dev would be her best bet. What she didn't expect though, was to fall in love with him, and this caused her to become conflicted between her father and Dev.

When Dev asks if she was willing to marry him, Rishita wonders whether she will be happy. She knows Dev is not involved in any of the shady business. Realizing she could help her father, while be with Dev, Rishita agrees to the marriage, planning out how she could bring demise to the Pandya family earlier than she thought.

Raavi, meanwhile, gets the offer of the lifetime to marry Dev. Janardhan is absolutely clueless about the entire thing (otherwise he would've ruined it then and there) as he was finally getting a lead in the case. Rishita finds out about the marriage and becomes angered, even more so when she realized Dev was doing nothing to fight for them.

Dhara becomes annoyed when she realizes Dev likes Rishita. Raavi was a safe choice since she was always "air-headed." But, Dhara realized becoming families with the Seth family had it's own benefits. For one, if she were to ever become exposed, Kamini and Janardhan could save her. So, she swallows her pride and goes to beg Kamini and Janardhan. They kick her out of the house, and Dhara decides she will take her vengeance. When she comes back home, she makes sure to intentionally show how hurt she is to rile up the brothers. It works. They notice her injuries and beat up Janardhan, and when she hears Kamini was slapped by a servant, she boasted with pride. The Pandya brothers--no puppets--were acting according to her will.

Next Part: Dev marries Rishita, Shiva marries Raavi, Janardhan's plots to bring his daughters back home, and Suman foils Dhara's plans...

Pandya Store what? Gangs of Somnath it is!

🤣 This conversation on Twitter re-invigorated my interest in Pandya Store after the lackluster episodes we were delivered! I've been laughing all afternoon as this story has been playing in my head 🤣 I swear, this is probably the only reason I continue watching the show. I'm going to be watching keenly to see if I can find any gems to add to the story 🤣

I can't wait to type up the upcoming drama! I imagine Janardhan as a protective father who's absolutely miffed his daughters like anyone in the Pandya family and now that Keerthi has entered the mix 🤣 Can't wait to write out that scene!

Will be watching with a Gangs of Somnath lens too 😎
