Farah Khan breaks silence on Saif Ali Khan’s Main Hoon Na casting claim

Filmmaker Farah Khan has reacted to actor Saif Ali Khan claiming that he was once considered for a role in Main Hoon Naa but was later dropped from the casting process. The discussion began after Saif spoke about the film during a recent interview and mentioned an alleged conversation involving Farah and Shah Rukh Khan.

Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, Saif recalled being approached for the film by Shah Rukh Khan. The actor said, “Yes, of course. He once called me for Main Hoon Na. He said there's a great part.” However, the role eventually did not happen.

Saif further claimed that Farah Khan later intervened regarding his casting. According to the actor, the filmmaker allegedly told Shah Rukh “no, no” when discussions about his involvement in the project took place.

Reacting to the statement, Farah Khan denied having any recollection of such an incident. Responding to the claim while speaking to Hindustan Times, the filmmaker said, “First I’m hearing of this.”

The conversation has now triggered fresh interest among fans of the 2004 film, which remains one of Shah Rukh Khan’s most popular commercial entertainers. Directed by Farah Khan, Main Hoon Naa marked her directorial debut and featured actors including Sushmita Sen, Zayed Khan, Amrita Rao and Suniel Shetty.

Meanwhile, Saif Ali Khan has reunited with Shah Rukh Khan professionally through the recently released Netflix project Kartavya. The crime drama marks their first major collaboration in several years. The two actors had previously shared screen space in films such as Kal Ho Naa Ho and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.

Kartavya premiered on Netflix on May 15, 2026, and features Saif in the role of a police officer dealing with corruption, personal conflict and moral dilemmas. The project is backed by Shah Rukh Khan’s production banner and has already started generating discussion online following its release. Neither Shah Rukh Khan nor the makers of Main Hoon Naa have commented publicly on Saif’s recent statement so far.
