CHAPTER - 10
And when I loved you,
I realized I have never truly loved anyone.
I realized, I never will truly love anyone the way I love you.
➸————————❥
Anokhi's sobs became louder with each passing second, while Shaurya's tears rolled down on her and drenched her temple.
He stroked her back, to relax her raging snivels down while simultaneously he tried to calm his own overwhelmed state.
Their hold on each other got tighter as the moments passed.
"Is this true?" They thought to themselves.
"Anokhi?" He purred in her ear after a long time, having known that she was his now.
"Say it." She sniffled in his chest.
"Promise me Anokhi...Promise that you'll never leave me again."
His voice became teary again.
"Promise. I Promise."
She was weeping loudly.
"I love you." He dropped kisses on her head, as he pulled her closer.
"I love you Shaurya." She bawled her eyes out.
They joined foreheads, keeping a steady hold on each other.
"Shaurya?" She mumbled, when her nose rubbed with his.
"Say it Anokhi."
"Can you please marry me? Please "
The way she said 'Please' pinched his heart. He closed his lids tightly, letting fresh tears roll down.
She tugged his hair and his nape with her hands. He buried her back in his arms.
"I will Anokhi, I will. I can't live without you." The only response came out of his lips.
She grabbed the collar of his shirt, pushing herself more on his torso.
He kept kissing her temple, cupping her swollen face in his hands.
Her tears finally dried out, and the sobs converted into whimpers, as she began relaxing herself.
He lifted her face up.
Their eyes met again.
He planted kisses all over her face. His kisses were not only affectionate, but they reflected the pain that he was bearing since four years.
The pain of seperation.
The pain of not seeing her infront of his eyes.
The pain of losing her forever,
atleast that was what he thought.
The pain of dieing a million deaths, over these years.
And, the feeling of finally able to breath again, when she stood in front of him, after four damn years.
The indescribable feeling, when she confessed her feelings to him again, a few minutes ago.
After moisting her already drenched face with a series of pecks, he placed her head on his shoulder. She encircled her hands around his waist, and exhaled deeply, coming back to her sanity slowly.
The goosebumps that had erupted on their bodies finally calmed. A sense of contentment and serenity evoked inside them, as they stood in each other's embrace.
She lifted her chin up after a long time, to glance at him.
His face, which was resting on her head, jerked at the sudden movement, as he looked down to find her gazing at him intently.
"Is something wrong, Anokhi?"
How could anything be wrong at that moment?
"Not that I'm complaining, but are we gonna spend this night here?"
He chuckled at her expressions and she too curved her lips in a smile.
"Let's walk to your house?" He suggested, while caressing her hair.
"Do you mean your house?" She asked innocently.
"Our house." He answered with a grin on his face.
She flashed her teeth at his words as he pecked her forehead.
"Shaurya?"
"Hmm?"
"Are you ever planning to release me from you hold?"
She had a mischievous smile on her face.
"Not until next four years."
They broke into a laughter. When the laughter subsided, he released her finally, only to hold her hand tightly the very next second.
He noticed her shivering, perhaps due to the windy weather. Or maybe due to the sudden rush of emotions that flowed in her.
Nevertheless, he placed the blazer bunched in his hand on her back, as they started walking towards the house.
She inhaled his scent, that spread over his blazer.
She looked up to meet his eyes, only to find him already smiling at her.
At that, she lowered her gaze, and looked down at the road, as they took small steps towards their destination. A tint of scarlet hue made it's way up her neck, and a soft smile adorned her lips.
God! How could he make her gush every single time.
He noticed what was happening to her. He grinned silently, while shaking his head.
"Anokhi?"
"Hmm?"
"It's unbelievable. You still blush so much."
"Pleaseee." And she blushed harder, making him laugh out loud.
But, It was unbelievable indeed.
As they were finally laughing, together.
As they walked on the streets, hand in hand, the world appear brighter to them.
They belonged to each other, and they had finally found themselves back.
Maybe this is what true love is.
No matter how far you go, true love always finds a way to come back to you.
They kept taking glances of each other, before they reached the house.
This feeling was not just unbelievable, It was surreal.
Anokhi began searching for her keys inside the purse.
She looked at Shaurya sheepishly.
"What? Did you loose the keys? How can you be so irresponsible Anokhi?"
"Shaurya, Just let go off my hand for once, so that I can look for the keys."
He looked down, and released her hand which was entwined with his.
She laughed seeing his grumpy face, before unlocking the door.
How much they missed these frivolous fights!
They stepped inside the house. Anokhi started placing her belongings on the table foremost, while a constant smile danced on her lips.
She turned around, to see the room empty, which was quite a shock for her.
"Shaurya?"
No answer.
"Shaurya?!"
Silence.
"Shaurya, this is not funny." She said loudly.
Her eyes hovered inside the house, until something clicked in her head.
She rushed towards the lawn.
And there he was. Standing with his open arms, smiling towards her.
She smiled a wide grin, before running and jumping in his arms. He enclosed her within himself.
"I love you." He muttered, pressing her against himself.
"I love you so much." She kissed his nape.
Tiny droplets began falling on them. They looked upwards at the sky, and then at each other, smiling.
It didn't take much time for the downpour to become gigantic. The rain fell on them feverishly, but they were not bothered about it.
Shaurya bent a little and picked Anokhi's legs up in his arms and twirled her around, the way he had done a few hours ago.
Only this time, they were laughing.
He left her lower waist, and placed her on his chest. She shrieked with joy, making him laugh.
Their drenched bodies were engulfed within one another. They were lost in each other's eyes, feeling complete.
He finally placed her feet on ground, and encircled her waist. She placed her palms on his chest.
The atmosphere tensed up a bit.
He lifted her face up, and she wrapped her arms around his neck.
He looked downwards, to match her height.
She lifted her heels up.
The vicinity between them increased and the gap between their lips closed.
Their lips enfolded, as they kissed each other, pouring their feelings in the touch.
They moved extremely slow, tasting each other with nothing but pure love.
They didn't want this moment to stop, ever.
Their tongues dueled further, as they smiled into the kiss.
It wasn't just a mere lock of lips,
it wasn't just a physical touch. Instead, their souls were touching each other.
They weren't hast, they were affectionate and immensely fondly in the kiss.
It was divine, like a dream which they never wanted to wake up from.
But when it was required, they parted and inhaled the air in, a little out of breath.
They rested themselves on each other's forehead, calming their heartbeats down.
Again opening their eyes, they looked at each other.
Shaurya noticed her face. Her lips were swollen, and her cheeks were crimson, like they always became after they would kiss.
Shaurya smiled at her and she smiled back instantly, before hiding her face in his chest, as shyness overcame her.
The innocence she had when she was around him never left her, and it would always make him melt for her.
"You're acting as if this was our first kiss." He teased her.
"Shaurya!" She slapped his arm, burying more onto him.
He laughed and hugged her tightly.
"Let's go and warm ourselves. Otherwise we will fall ill." She instructed, and marched back into the house.
Once they were inside, Anokhi washed her face, and changed into her nightwear. She gave some comfy clothes to Shaurya, ordering him to change immediately.
When he came out of the washroom, he found her laying the bed. They then made themselves comfortable in the bed, before falling into each other's arms.
Anokhi moved up in his arms, and dropped a kiss on his forehead, before crawling downwards, and resting herself on him. He peppered her face with loving pecks.
"I can't believe it Anokhi."
"Me too."
And with that, they fell asleep in each other's embrace.
A sleep of satisfaction, finally.
The Next Morning
Anokhi woke up, finding herself in a grip of firm arms, which she recognised all too well.
She pushed herself a little, and sat lopsidedly on the bed, as she trailed her hands on Shaurya's sleeping face.
The previous night's incident did not leave her mind for a moment, and her eyes brimmed as she recalled each detail of it.
At that moment, she laid herself down again, and hugged Shaurya tightly, letting her tears fall down.
Shaurya stirred in his sleep, when he felt his chest getting wet. He opened his eyes, to find Anokhi wailing in his embrace.
He became alarmed instantly and cupped her cheek.
"Anokhi? Hey! What happened?"
"No...Nothing."
"Why are you crying?"
"Shaurya, Will you promise me one more thing?"
He could promise the world to her.
"Yes."
"Promise me that whatever our fate shows us in future, we will face it together. We will never let go of each other."
He wiped her tears and enveloped her in his arms.
"Promise." He murmured, making her smile.
He pecked her lips lightly, before she got up.
"Did you tell Shaan sir that you're staying here?"
"God no! I completely forgot everything."
"Shaurya! Call him now. He must be worried."
He picked his phone up and panicked immediately.
"What happened?"
"20 missed calls from dad."
"Gosh! Call him now."
"Yeah."
He dialled Shaan's phone number hastly.
"Hello dad."
"What hello? Where the heck have you been Shaurya? We are all so worried here!"
"Dad..Actually..."
"Actually what? Do you have no responsibilities?"
"I'm coming home dad. I'll explain everything to you in detail."
"Come home now!"
Shaurya glanced at Anokhi. He got up from the bed and took her hand in his.
"What happened Shaurya?"
"You're coming to Sabherwal House with me."
"Wha-"
"Yes. Freshen yourself up. We have to leave."
"Shaurya, listen to me."
"Please don't stop me Anokhi."
"I'm not stopping you. Listen to me and then make your mind up.
See Shaurya, we have already lost so much of our time due to impulsive decisions. Don't repeat the mistakes we did in the past. Think practically.
You go to your house, talk with Shaan sir. Then, come to a conclusion. Okay?"
"You're right. I'll go now. Will freshen myself up there."
He picked his belongings up and left for the Sabherwal house, but not before enclosing her lips within his.
~
Shaurya entered the Sabherwal House, whistling casually. He knew they would be mad on him, but he just didn't care. He cared about nothing for now.
"Shaurya, Where were you? Was everything alright? Did something happen? Why didn't you call?" A series of questions were thrown upon him, as soon as he stepped inside.
"I'm alright guys! Everything was fine." He said loudly, trying to calm the people hovering around him.
How he wished that he could tell all of them that it wasn't just fine. It was the best night of his life.
"I met an old friend of mine. We talked while wandering around the streets, and when the realisation dawned upon me, it was already morning. I'm sorry."
"Atleast you could have told me Shaurya." Devi said to him, in a genuinely concerned tone.
"It's fine now. Anyways, I'll go and get fresh. You guys carry on." He instructed the family members, and then eyed towards Shaan, indicating him to come to his room.
Shaan had sensed that something was fishy all this while, but chose to keep quiet. As soon as Shaurya told him to, he rushed to his room and closed the door behind.
"So, Shaurya!"
"Yup."
"Where had you been, actually?"
Shaurya smiled at him.
"Why are you smiling? Which friend did you meet last night?"
Shaan was perplexed seeing Shaurya's antics.
"A very old friend,
No, actually, not a friend.
My soulmate,
The love of my life."
"Okay, just a second here. Did you and Anokhi.....?"
"Yes dad!"
Shaurya squealed in delight and hugged Shaan.
"Oh my god Shaurya! I'm so elated. Finally!"
"I'm so happy dad."
"Did you tell Aastha?"
"No! Actually, you convey this news to mom. I have to leave for SIAC. I had a meeting this morning. Once I'll come, I'll talk to Badi Ma and Bade Papa."
"Shaurya....What are you going to say to them?"
"You'll see dad."
~
Shaurya stepped inside the Sabherwal House in late evening, and found Aastha in the hall, much to his surprise.
"Hey Mom! You, here?"
"Actually, I recieved a great news from Shaan. So I decided to congratulate my son, and I came here. Congratulations Shaurya!"
"Thankyou mom!" He smiled, while hugging her.
"Now, I have some important work to do, will be back in few minute." He chirped, and took the stairs to Devi and Tej's room.
Aastha smiled seeing him happy, finally.
"Badi Ma!" He rushed into the room, to find Devi sitting on the couch, lost in thoughts.
"Badi Ma? I want to talk to you."
"Yes, Shaurya?"
He held her hands in his.
"You've done a lot for me, Badi Ma. You raised me for twenty five years of my life. I know I owe so much to you."
"You don't owe me anything, Shaurya. It was my duty."
"Yes, ofcourse it was your duty. It was your duty, to evict a helpless woman from your house, due to your toxic mentality.
It was your duty, to snatch her child way from her, and then raise him with the same mentality.
It was your duty, to seperate the child you raised from the love of his life.
It was really your duty Badi Ma"
"Shau-"
"No Badi Ma. Today you have to listen to me. I came here to tell you that I'm marrying Anokhi Bhalla. I'm marrying my Anokhi. And unlike last time, I'll succeed in setting with her.
If you have to disown me as your heir, please do. I'll let you win, but I won't loose Anokhi this time.
If you have to snatch everything away from me, please do. But I'll not let anyone seperate me from my everything, this time.
And one more thing, if you disown me as your son, I'll too not consider you both as my parents."
"Shaurya, I accept your marriage with Anokhi. Both me and Tej do."
Devi said in a low tone, shaking Shaurya to his core.
"Really?"
"Yes."
"Bhaisahab, Bhabhi, Shaurya has reconciled his relationship with Anokhi. He is going to marry her, this time." Shaan and Aastha announced, while making themselves seated infront of Devi and Tej.
"He didn't tell any of us about this." Devi said, as the lines reappeared on her forehead.
"That is because, you have lost the position you had in his life, in these four years." Aastha eyed her, hitting the right chord.
"But-"
"There are no ifs and but left Bhabhi. If you have to gain the image you had infront of him back, you have to accept what he demands."
"What does he demand?"
"Anokhi entering the house, where Shaurya has grown up, and living a peaceful life with him.
His happiness lies in Anokhi, and you lost him when you snatched that away, a fact that is very well known to you."
"I don't know what to say." Devi sighed, as she rubbed her forehead.
"We will accept whatever Shaurya wants." Tej concluded, surprising everyone.
"But Tej-"
"Our love for Shaurya has always been genuine, irrespective of our grudges with you. And we have seen him drift away from us in these past years, which aches us. We only want his happiness, now.
And for all the sinister acts we committed in the past, please forgive us." Tej said slowly, while Devi lowered her head in guilt.
"That's good Bhaisahab. We appreciate that you both realised that you had lost him." Shaan and Aastha exchanged a nod and smiled.
Finally, they had received victory.
"Yes Shaurya, we accept this marriage whole heartedly. You do not have to leave us. Just forgive us for what we did to you, because these four years had ached us as much as they ached you."
Shaurya saw nothing but genuine guilt in their eyes.
"I forgive you Badi Ma, Bade Papa. But, I want mom to stay here too."
"Fine, she shall come back here."
"Finally!" Shaurya gave his widest smile, before touching their feet and seeking blessings. He left their room, to meet Aastha downstairs.
"Are we doing the right thing Devi?" Tej asked nervously.
"Yes Tej. We have done enough wrongdoings. No more, from now onwards." Devi smiled a soft smile.
~
-See you in college tomorrow.
Shaurya pinged a text to Anokhi's phone number, while hitting the bed.
-Alright!
The reply came the very next moment.
-Also, Ms. Bhalla....
-Yes?
-I love you ;)
-Okay.
-What okay?
-Hehe, you still get teased Shaurya XD
-Funny! Now say it.
- I love you too <3
Goodnight, xoxo.
-Goodnight love =D
They felt as if they were reliving the old days.
How he used to sneak in her room, and flirt with her over phone.
The same excitement and ecstacy when one would confess love to the other.
The same session of teasing and getting teased.
And finally, sleeping with a smile on their faces.
It was like a sweet Deja Vu, which they would re-experience regularly, now.
"Tomorrow is going to be the most special day of our lives, Anokhi." Shaurya said to himself, before drifting into sleep.
