A story has no beginning or end: arbitrarily, one chooses that moment of experience from which to look back or look ahead.
Graham Greene
Today’s episode was significant in many terms. While we see a happy Shiva with childlike exuberance, making sure Ravi gets a glimpse of his carefree nature through his prank, we get this epic dance too. We also see how Funny It could be to have this historical childhood together. These are children who were thrown into a marriage together. They grew up with each other, hitting each other and above all being in opposite teams.
We also see many references to their childhood where Shiva reminds Ravi about their prank with a lizard – a common thread of their memories throughout the years. We also Are shown a glimpse of how vivid, happy and triumphant Shiva can be. I am sure many of you might be left wondering about the sudden transition of an anxious, angry and mildly upset Shiva Suddenly being jovial again.
The transition wasn’t very well executed from one episode to another. But, hasn’t that been a pattern with Shiva? He always tries to snap out of a particular emotion that overwhelmed him, and the moment he immerses himself as a prankster, that’s the precise time we see him truly happy. That brings me back to the premise of scaring Rishita, where we see Ravi complimenting Shiva’s uninhibited laughter for the first time! We will be talking about his laugh and prank sometime later. But, today is the time for travelling back to the moment where It all began!
There’s a song in the room played by Raavi that was reasonably symbolic. Ravi decides to see relationships in a new light, wanting to start new Friendships. But is that so easy? For the first time, we see Shiva talking about the part of his life which contains nothing but the memories of her fights.
Let me take a moment, pause, breathe and appreciate the choice of song by the creatives. The song is a legendary one written by the maestro Sahir Ludhianvi himself. I have a notable weakness for this song. For a generation who hasn’t been exposed to his songs, they can google his rich history with Urdu poetry. He belongs to The clan of poets like Amrita Pritam, Saadat Hasan Manto, Ismat Chughtai. Their friendships, stories and letters are treasured in the pages of the internet. And, who doesn’t know about the legendary unrequited romance between the feminist writer Amrita Pritam and Sahir Ludhianvi? Ahead of her times, Amrita Pritam never could unite with Sahir, and one of our famous poems is “Main Tenu Phir Milenge”. In this song, too, There is haunting loneliness about lovers coming together and then departing in the unknown realm of being strangers again.
Chalo Ek Baar Phir Se Lyrics and Translation:-Copied
Chalo ek baar phir se, ajnabii ban jaaye.n ham dono.n
Come, let us become strangers once again.
na mai.n tumse koii ummiid rakhuu.n dilnavaaziikii
I shall no longer maintain hopes of compassion from you
na tum merii taraf dekho ghalat andaaz nazaro.n se
Nor shall you gaze at me with your deceptive glances.
na mere dil ki dhaDkan laDkhaDaaye merii baato.n me.n
My heart shall no longer tremble when I speak,
na zaahir ho tumhaari kashm-kash ka raaz nazaro.n se
Nor shall your glances reveal the secret of your torment.
Shiva mentions today that to start as strangers, we would have to become children again, and that’s not possible. A significant point where their familiarity can explode into a lifetime of love. There are many questions left unanswered. Was Ravi important to Shiva as a child? Was he in love? Was he the third wheel between Dev and Ravi? Or, he secretly nurtured a crush on her? Or, he secretly wished to be the centre of her universe as she was his? All these questions and much more can only be answered if we travel in a capsule to their childhood.
Jab, we Met... Where it all Began...
The first introduction to the kids happen with Dhara running towards Maami’s house, and the first thing she asks the kids is to play with Ravi, and she reprimands Siva by warning him not to be smart with Ravi. We are introduced to the tiny Ravi; her first dialogue Is being Dev, where she glances at him with love, and the moment Shiva’s name is mentioned, she changes her expression to a nasty one!
Raavi chanting Dev 🤔😄😎
Look at the change of her expression when Shiva is mentioned. There seems to be a charged pair of anger between the kids right from the word go. We are not shown an error before this but Dara’s conversation hints at their prevalent animosity. Hence, her warning to Shiva.
Tiny Shiva isn’t very happy, he just glares in anger.💔🤣Tiny Shiva isn’t very happy, he just glares in anger.
See this is what I was talking about in my previous posts. Dev Raavi Friendship was genuine from childhood. He genuinely appreciated her looks and everything she did. There is a childlike innocence in their friendship.❤️
Well, Dev was just being Dev 🤪
Look at the grumpy expression of Shiva when Dev calls Ravi beautiful. 😆 Chotu ko pasand nahi aya 🤣
Look at the beaming Chhoti Ravi! She can’t seem to contain her excitement on being called beautiful by our perfect Dev While our Sadu Sadakchaap Shiva burns🤣
His instant reaction Is a Mami key Behen Ki beti🤗
😆 Aag boy being Aaag 🤪
He calls her Chahundar 👹
Tiny beauty queen gets supremely annoyed and says mean things to Shiva, like you are a mouse not me. Dev also said that I am beautiful! Oh, Ravi! You and your Dev chant🤣
And, there The Junglee Shiva goes bizarre because Ravi wouldn’t stop chanting Dev! 💁♀️ He made her his Raavi instead of Dev’s pretty princess.
Now the villain is happy! Shiva rejoices Commenting that now she looks amazing and beautiful!
Ekdum Fitto Fit 🤪
The next set of caps are interesting! Where we see a glimpse of care, concern and goodness of Dev. He had always been there for Ravi against Shiva. Shiva was nothing but a bully to her and most of his bullying stemmed from the animosity between him and Mami. He called her an enemy because she was born to Prafulla. Psychologically too, We see Shiva fairly obsessed with Maami and thereafter Ravi.
Dev just being Dev 😆
🤣
Classic Shiva being angry at Dev for coming between him and Raavi. Ab villain and heroine ke beech main hero ka kya kaam 🤣🤣
Main Teri Dushman.. Dushman to mera..
Nagin Nevla Pair 💏
Shiva being nasty as always refusing to apologise simply because he had fun teasing the lizard. Am I reading too much or Shiva always found her to be his prank toy?😆
Did he enjoy teasing her secretly? Did he get annoyed when he didn’t have attention? There are thousands of questions that surfaced during the scene and are left to our imagination? Do you think after all this history they can become strangers and start fresh? Shiva was right! Every Kissa of his childhood revolves around her! Can she wipe it off?🤣
It’s interesting to note that most of our adulthood issues are deeply rooted in childhood. Abandonment, drama attachment disorder, being to assertive Or too timid – all these character attributes and much more are shaped by the experiences of childhood.
You can become dreamily naive Or emotionally unregulated given your childhood experiences. Do we see a pattern here? Did she was hint at his childhood reflect a hidden pain in his heart where he was third wheeling between Ravi and Dev? Well, these are unanswered questions, and I am hoping the creatives take this route of exploring their bond right from the beginning.
This is me signing of for today. I will keep continuing in the next post about their emotional journey to adulthood.
