Chapter 6 "Glimpse of Demon"

"What happen"? Veer"?

Ask Aziz without wasting minute sensing his sour mood, they has worked entire day in Amer roaming here and there. Saw the change in Amer as well they were really being exploited by Adham khan's men. Though they all were brave and bravely opposed his men whenever they failed the angel of death or her mem comes to their rescue.

"I don't know why"! But whenever I see Radha it's feel like she's Jodha"!..

"Why don't you move on"? Didn't you saw her burning to death in Sambhar"?

"I know"! I helplessly saw her dying but"!..

"But what"?

Aziz was annoyed by now he has enough of Jalal and his rant related to Jodha. What type of love is it"? When she needed help he did nothing when she died he could do nothing and now he's trying to take a lead as if he's aware of everything and everyone. People spoil their life for two reason in the Grief of past or fear of future they forget to live in present. And Jalal was doing same mourning over the past destroying his present.

"It's fishy"! Adham khan known as tyrant Leader here"! Yet he the men ambitious as him who wanted my position"! Didn't step out of Amer for once"?...

That's got his attention he was thinking about it too, but for him Adham wasn't matter they're here for. So he didn't focused much on him, he was trying to get information about "angel of death" the most. But then he shared his own opinion with Jalal as well.

"I heard from commoners he didn't step out of fort too"!..

"But why"? What's stopping him"?

"Perhaps terror of Angel of death"!..

"He's indeed a coward but he's whicked too"! He will definitely make a way out for himself but he isn't meaning something is fishy here"!.

Jalal nodded and started to get his stuff over horse to leave for the Place they has taken shelter. There vwere many question in his mind, but no way to get the answers. Patting the neck of his horse he was about to mount over it but halted by hearing a loud scream. Turning around the come across the sight of Mughal soldier whimpering in pain.

"Don't dare to understimate us"!..

Group of girls yelled pointing their sword at them, apparently they try to take the girls to fort. But the girls not only resisted but shot their little dagger towards the hand of Soldiers raise to hold them. And now standing at arm length distance warning them. And walked away without casting glance at them picking their pots fill water.

"We should follow these men"!..

Decided Jalal and conveyed his decision to Aziz who nodded and followed after him. To see where the soldiers are going it was clear they're investigating a wrong person. He didn't wanted to repeat the mistake he made last time by going behind wrong people under influence of Following law.

Why here in Sambhar"? Why not near Hills"?

Jalal asked Adham khan in confusion and curiousity, they has arrived with large troop of well armed force. And they could carry on further but Adham khan halted the troop in Sambhar the set up was build for their temporarily stay. He didn't receive answer from him but intrupption from soldier.

"My lord"! Amer King Bharmal is approaching our troop"! He's accompany by 20 of his Men"!..

Jalal was quick to realize, if he has offended them he won't be approaching them with bunch of soldiers. If he has cones to know about their arrival he won't step out but like wise king will make preparations to fight.

"He's isn't approaching us for war"!..

"That's more better"! The crown prince can help us"! In welcoming him here"! And our men will arrest him"! Then a negotiation will take place with Amer"!

Jalal didn't liked the tone of Adham khan, neither he appreciated the plan, he was just sent here for name sake most importantly for conquering. All the plans and authority was with Adham khan, he felt horrible but he has very little option. They went according to their plan king Bharmal was astonished at first to see the Large troop and thought to return but then spotting Crown Prince Jalal on horse approaching him he felt relieved. Exchange of pleasant greetings and they made their way towards troop. The smile faded as tension prevail in air as soon king Bharmal saw Adham khan his grip on Pommel of sword grew tight.

"Welcome King Bharmal"!

"I needs to talk with you Jalal"!..

"We will talk calmly once Our Flag hoisted on the fort of Amer"!

"Adham khan"! "Don't forget your limit I won't pardon you twice for"!..

"Don't raise voice King Bharmal"! You lost the authority"!

"What"? Have you lost your etiquette or"!..

"It's up to you king Bharmal you wish to be our guest or Prisoner"?..

A gasp escape from Adham khan's mouth, as without word King Bharmal shot his dagger towards him, but he dodge it by moving aside and dagger slicing his cheek moved ahead towards tree behind him. King Bharmal was seething in rage. This was enough for Jalal to gesture the soldiers. Bharmal glanced around and immidately felt he really understimate Adham khan, as his men were pulled down, the swords were pointed on their neck. He look at Jalal but Jalal avoided looking at him.

"Take him away"!. And sent the letter to Amer if they want the king they should sent the princess"!..

King Bharmal gaze widened up in sheer surprise, the consequence were dire and for the first time he has felt fearful not for himself but for his people for his daughter. The warning of Adham khan re-rang in his mind praying inwardly he moved with the men. This change of emotion didn't went unnoticed by him. But he didn't try to think further though he himself oppose the words of Adham khan but he has very little to say.

"If only I wasn't to ignorant"!

The ring of bells, made him comes to present as well his thoughts. He glanced around and realised they reach near the fort. The soldiers were making their way inside. The temple's around the fort were plunderd, though every fort has the rulers flag hoisted on top but there was none. That's not good sign he spotted an old men going towards the ruin sight of temple. He clean the idol of Goddess Kali then washing he shower the idol with flower petals he has very less to offer but he was offering everything with full devotion and love.

"Did you get her"?..

Walking with the support of wooden crutch, a men stared outside the forged wall. The room was engulfed by darkness, smell of alcohol has prevailed in the air. It was hard for anyone to stand in the room. But for the men standing near window it doesn't make difference.

"No My lord"! "She escaped and killed our men"! And I received information from our source young Prince is coming"!..

"That little mice can't do anything"!."even if he has return here"! He will be killed by her first"!..

"My lord do don't you think we we should take help from young prince"? "The angel of death has cornered us in fort badly"!..

Yelled Adham khan harshly, making the soldiers to retreat few steps when his hand touch a lighted lamp and it fell on ground which made the carpet to caught fire. The soldier let out a gasp, tryi g to extinguish the fire but it uncontrollable. because of carpet being wet by alcohol, which Adham khan often throw around in rage. He look back shivering in fear bit winch upon sighting the face of Adham khan. The long deep charred scar on right side of cheek, plucked out left eye, long uncut curled dirty hair and beared. Was a terrifying sight for him adham khan who saw this didn't wasted a minute shot his dagger taking the life of his own men. As he stared back at his own reflection wrapping his furr coat more tightly he played ignorant to fire knowing well any minute soldier will rush in to extinguish it.

Kanika ask from men, sitting over the rock, sharpening his sword, while Jodha who was standing near the tree shooting arrow was having her attention over their conversation.

"The men her highness ask us to follow"! he was seen approaching the fort"!..

"It means her highness doubt was right"! "They're spy"? "Should we kill them off"?..

"No"! "We will use them now"!.. it's time we hit where it hurt them the most"! Keep strict eye over them'!..

Replied Jodha this time with harshness, having a smirk on face she has a plan ready. Which could end the so called supremacy of tyrant Adham khan from Amer. A day doesn't go when she don't think of past when she lost everything. Mounting over her horse she moved out of the hills to see the plundered temple.

"Mother"!.."Queen mother"!..

The loud yelling of young princess get everyone on toe, the maid ran to inform the queen as she rushed to check on her, daughter she was standing near pool. The water cor has changed and the fishes while floated their in joy before. Were floating over the top of pool dead, and the princess was standing with teary face. It was a bad sign nature was warning then of trouble, she recall sane thing has hapoen day back when she went on labour but gave birth to Dead Prince.

"Jodha shh"! Calm down"!..

"Father has went to meet King Abul Shah what If"!..

Queen Champavati immidately placed her finger on Jodha's lips silencing her from speaking further, she gesture the care-takers to clean the water get's the bodies of fish out. She dragged Jodha with her to court side, to meet with minister's. But stepping in the hall she met with frozen troubled face of courtiers.

"Your highness"!."Crown Prince Abul Fath Jalal-ud-din has arrived with large army"!..

"What's the purpose"!..

"He.. um he has captured his Majesty"!..

Jodha gasp hearing the minister's word, then look at her mother who snatch the royal scroll started reading it, she watch how the color drained from her mother's face. Jodha glanced back at courtiers who stared at her with grim look. She understood the meeting didn't went well, they trusted Adham khan over king her father. And the crown prince supporting his so called brother carrying out the order of King Abul Shah. She stood silently for while the spoke.

"They want us to surrender right"?..

"It would've been better if they did that"! But they want..

"I'm not sending my daughter to those heretic Butcherer"!

Jodha look back at her mother who held her hand securely, she snatch the scroll and saw the sign of Crown Prince royal seal, it was a message in the release of King Bharmal they want her to come along with delegation to negotiate. Before the sun-set"Is this your friendship"? The face reflection you see in your prayer you wants the very face exposed infront of all"? Thought she inwardly, when The warning of Adham khan re-rang in her ears how he will make her slave. "But her father"! No she can't risk his life but if they're so immoral to arrest a king when he's out without army went to just talk. Then they can kill him too, what if they has killed him and sent this just to stop the Mass-immolation which occurs after king death, and war with Army of Amer"?. She thought and thought then ask.

"What's the proof Father is alive"? They has caught him already"!

"If they has killed him they will sent his head"! Not the sword"!.."Princess"!.

"That's what I'm asking"!. "They know we don't have king in state it's easier to just March here and perhaps win"!. "What if it's trap to strip us off from our dignity"?..

All the courtiers let out stunned expression hearing the words of Princess. The queen sat on throne, to stunned to react, the words of Princess made her numb. The Princess was rambling about the consequence of war, fate which store for them if they declined the deal. But the queen was thinking else, She has lived her life, she fail to birth an hire. But she won't let her daughter's life to be spoiled the words of Adham khan echo's in her brain and she vow that she will protect her daughter even if it mean to sacrifice her life. When she heard the courtier's questioning her daughter.

"What we should do then"?..

"Where are they"?.

"At sambhar"!..

"Very good"! Hukum Singh Ji "! "Get ten Well skilled tactician expert warrior for me"!."to accompany me there"!

"No you're not going"!.."I won't let you"!.."No mean no you only said the possibility of his Majesty"!.. no I can't allow you there"! They will"! no"!

"Queen mother"!

Everyone released a breath realizing it's end, Saka mean instead of accepting defeat the saffron warrior make way out of forts for final battle. And women's in forts step on burning pyre to end their life. Where's Jodha who has other thoughts just gesture a maid to take the queen away, though the queen protested but went away calmly, she has lost control over her emotion and knew , can't take the lead thus instead of creating trouble she went away quietly. Jodha didn't fear death, fearing the invitible is foolish. She just fear the consequence of letting state go under Rule of Tyrant like Adham.

"If they win us"! They will burn the city to ashe"! Don't forget you all sworn to protect the subjects of Amer too"!

"But Princess"!..

"Hear me out"! It was king who embrace the enemy"! It's me they has come for"! It's us who let that snake go alive"! So We should be the one to pay for it"! Not you all neither the subject of Amer"!

Everyone stared at her with unreadable expression, So just because she think it's king and royals are responsible as royal take responsibility to face the consequences. And protect her subject her state Sacrificing her everything"?. in their hearts admiration for their princess grew more. But with each words her emotion were getting clouded with rage and coldness, through tears had blurred her vision she was standing with head held high staring at all time to time.

"I I have a plan"!. "They has set up troop in Sambhar because it's vast open ground"!. "So approaching them is easier escaping them isn't"!..but they forget it's our land we know the ground here better than them"!.

The courtiers shared a glance, before she speak out her plan, they knew whatever the plan is it's Sucidial in every way at least for her. They were ready to let go of their life, but their Honor"? No that wasn't an option for them, though they sworn to Support her in her plan, inwardly they vow to themselves to protect her as well. They all nodded in yes making her cough a bit to clear her throat and the discussion went on and on. And then within few hour, a Palanquin ten horse having well armed warrior made their way out of fort. As they needed to reach before sun-set. But they stopped near the hills and sent the letter from there to Adham khan.

"Before negotiating with any of you"! "Her highness wish to convers with his Majesty alone"!..

"What's this arrogance of her"?..ask her to come and see him on own"!..or we will sent his head"!.

"Her highness doesn't wants to wage war against you"! She just wish to meet the king"!.

"She's already out here"! We aren't obliged to grant her wish ask her to come here"!..

If her permission isn't granted"! Assuming you had taken the life of his majesty she will embrace death!

"No"! We agree"! Permission granted"!..

Both parties watch a men held by two soldiers moving towards the tent by cloth it was clear the men held by other is King. His majesty look weak there's bno change in walking but his fallen, head such a change within few hours. Is he poisoned"? Ask Hukum Singh, but didn't gain reply from other men, he tilted his head back and get shock to see queen Champavati. Confused by his gaze Jodha turn to look around, but her mother press the wild flower petal over her nose Making her Gasp and feel dizzy. Hukum Singh greeted her.

"Your highness"!..

"Hukum Singh take her away"!.. If you spot the tent burning then think the king is Dead"!

With this in very simplest cloth to keep herself look more younger, she walked towards the tent where the king was sent. Jodha walked dizzily fough under Hukum Singh grip but he didn't free her. As they anticipated soon the tent caught fire a sign the king is dead and to make them look the Princess is dead to the queen has self-immolated. They watch the crown Prince, moving towards the tent as well the army but nothing helps.

"What's this sound"? Who is playing flute"?

Ask Jodha to herself as she hear the melodic tune of flute, it's been so long she has heard the sound of flute. "Don't lose this could be trap"! Getting cautious she glanced around then dismount from horse and saw Veer sitting near the plundered temple on ground. She watched him, gets amazed by the sight of him. But spotting the flute design she get's confused but didn't felt like disturbing him so stand still. While later with smile he spoke.

"You will has to pay two coin"! Or compliment me"!..

"For What"?

"For getting entertain by my music"!..

"You play well"!

"Was it compliment"? Didn't Angel of death teach you how to pay compliment"? Well my fault a warrior won't know the tone of music"!

"Who said this"? Know what"? A Warrior know lot more about music than a common artist"!..

"Wrong artist is artist you cannot categories them"! In common or special way"!..

Forwarding two gold coin to him she tied her horse near the tree and sat on rock. Jalal smirk inwardly over the action of her, he has realized it she easily get riled up. But has quite control over her mood to converse with her one need a very important topic to discuss or challenge her with.

"I never knew I can win a verbal argument with women"!

The smile disappeared from his face, as he stared at her in shock but said nothing. Where's Jodha who saw the change felt little odd but said nothing she didn't realize what she said so wrong that he gave such a expression. Perhaps he's Drama king thinking this she started glancing around. Where's he just picked a wooden stick and started making something on ground. At first she wanted him to stay quiet but now it was annoying her she glanced at him. But she didn't wanted to say anything as it was matter of ego now. Time passed by she get's up walked around and get's glimpse of a face being drawn on ground by him.

"What's this"?..

"You"!."!.anyway has the Desire to gain peace, ended"? That you decided to talk"?..

"Can't you answer straightly"?.

(Ask Jalal though he was amused and genuinely confused by her words, she doesn't look like person to enjoy the flaunting her beauty, or hear compliment. Then seeing her self-compliment side he was confused. He thought if she see the drawing she will get angry on him. But here even watching it she complimented him she look on at him hearing his words seeing his expression she realized she said something to get in trouble retreating back.

"You're not worth compliment"!.. it's the art I praise"!..

Saying this she rush towards the Horse and climb over it, Jalal glanced at the drawing then modding he to walked towards his horse and both together made their way towards the place they're staying. If he wasn't present there she would have made way inside the fort sneakingly but his presence made her change her plans.
