He couldn't, Vardhan made him face what he did. That made things so chaotic.

He once tried to calm Vardhan down, but he was already mentally exhausted.

What really woke him up was when he saw Vardhan touch Pranati.

The words had to come out, the anger with Rey is violence, he will never say anything under anger. I'll explain myself later on this point ^^

I can't wait to talk about this.

I really can't stand that Pranati is being denigrated in this way anymore!

Moving to the next part, we see Prani asking Rey answer to the question that she had asked him, he in turn answers back that he thought it was a statement (fact). While I'd like to think it was playful, Parboni pointed out that it could be how Rey thought Prani perceived him. So I guess it was a mix of both, deep down he knew that that's how she looked at him but brought it up in a playful way. You know, like some of us joke upon our own drawbacks or insecurities before someone else does it? While Prani gives back the choice to him, as to how her perceives it but looks for an answer.

First she questions him if the surname 'Khuranna' matters to him so much that what happened to her doesn't matter.

Again,this is Rey's Prani. One of the strongest points of Pranati's character is cutting straight to the point. No gol gol baatein even when addressing the elephant in the room. I noticed this when she clarified her relationship status with Archit to Rey as well.

He hangs his head down as Prani continues. She asks him the same basic question, again and again in three new versions. Essentially asking him if the Khuranna name and tag matters more than the wrongs done to her or her life. He finally lifts his head and shakes it in the negative and says 'That's why I am here'. He actually doesn't beat around the bush or try and push his image, rather he straight out tells 'I'm sorry', he apologises and even asks for her forgiveness (he says 'maaf kardo').

As he begins to speak, it sets in that whatever is coming is not just for the Vardhan drama, it is for almost everything he has done, every wrong thing that had transpired between them ever since they met. He apologises not for what Prani had to go through, but rather for his own actions, this is very important cuz this meant Rey taking responsibility of his own actions. We had seen him do it earlier in the hall but that was for what Prani had to go through, he does it again, this time around with more clarity as to what led to his behaviour and for his own actions.

You don't see a guilt ridden Rey but one who has accepted his mistakes and ready to face it with utmost honestly and in the most 'Rey way' he could. Prani is clearly surprised when he apologises, he tells her that he hasn't apologised before because it was in his life since childhood to do mistakes but never had never learnt to apologise when he was wrong because he had no one to point it out he was wrong and set him in the right direction. He points out what Prani already knows, the Khuranna family houses business partners and not family members, there are no relationships between them but only deals, they don't care for their children. These children learn to fend for themselves, they learn from what they see and make it their life path and choice as well, which they don't realise is wrong. They don't learn to differentiate between right and wrong, but now that Rey does he says 'I'm sorry'. (Slightly off topic - We see a striking similarity here with Jugs, a Khuranna child who had to fend and learn for herself but outside in the real world. She also does things both good and bad, whatever suits or serves her the best, not really understanding the difference. Seems like a family curse or something -.-)

A beautiful symbolism indeed. That's one of the biggest reasons why she and Rey bond so well since the beginning.

We analyze and read a lot into the characters and script then crew. I hope we all realize that 🤣🤣🤣

Prani is clearly and pleasantly surprised, she just stares at him (in a good way), trying to decipher the man before her and to understand all that he had just confessed. Rey become a little fidgety, looking down and around waiting for her to respond but she only stares. Clearly anxious, Rey asks her why is she looking at him like that?!

Then she breaks her silence. She says that she sees Rey today and not one of the Khurannas in him. This is important because when she fell in love in college, she fell in love with Reyansh, she din't fall in love RK (I'll come to this Reyansh vs RK saga a little later).

This is the point of the story where I want them to rediscover their old abandoned love. I started on this forum stating whatever these two share is purely toxic and unhealthy form of relationship and hope that they remain as co-parents only. Now,I have a character development as well.😳

She sees the real Reyansh beneath the fake mask (known as the Khuranna tag). She tells him that even he has seen his fair share of things, gone through bad times and to fight with the world he had to mask his real self (Rey behind the Khuranna name).

@bold: This is where Rey started getting emotional. The feeling that Pranati knows him thoroughly got to him.

But today, she sees just Rey, the real Rey. Rey baby, who had come in expecting her to accept his apology and probably nothing more is clearly shocked. It is a pleasant surprise as he watches her see him for who he is, something he has always wanted her to see. .Maan had seen it, he knows it but Prani's stamp of acceptance of who he really is was something he wanted, something that mattered to him.

Pranati's words,her touch her the switch and control buttons to his emotions.

Now as he is receives it, when he was least expecting it, you can see the emotions building up within him, eyes slowly beginning to well up.

Needless to say,that was some fabulous acting by Kunal. Even without any dialogues,you could clearly see and feel his inner turmoil. And as I watched and rewatched the scene,it felt like both Rey and Pranati were trying hard not to engulf each other in a bone crushing hug(hehehe maybe coz Pranati injured her back). Both Kunal and Aneri did a beautiful job with their eyes and body language.

Then we see Prani beginning to break down. Reyansh had always mattered to her, be it in a good or bad way. He was her first and only love, the first man to break her heart, the man who had given her the biggest and most precious gift of her life, the father of her child and the man who had in a way broken her beyond repair.

Wanted to make a separate comment for this but since Natasha has already brought it up. We have always talked about and Pranati has pointed out today that Reyansh wears a mask in front of the world to hide who he truly is. The same fact is true for Pranati as well. Behind the ladaku,hard headed strong willed grown woman,she still is the broken vulnerable girl who wants to trust in love again.She isn't confused like Reyansh,knows what she wants and what she is doing in Khurana Mansion. Hardened by betrayal and forced by survival instincts,she fights head-on with the Khuranas. She expresses herself better than Rey,yet she wears a mask as well.

Reyansh has had and still has a major part in her life, and all this while she couldn't understand how she had let someone so vile and horrible as him impact her so much. She constantly had questioned herself how she had connected with and shared her life with someone like him.

She says that today that she is very happy because today Rey has finally showed her the truth, putting an end to the constant turmoil withing her, because if he was a wrong man like once he had made her believe, her heart would have never beat for him, implying that he was truly a good man and that she loved him and lived for him at some point.

Unable to face him directly (like Readlo, Parboni & Jey pointed out. Please read ReadLo & Jey's explanations for this bit in Pg 82 and/or 83 of the AT) and confess her side of the story we see Prani walking around him and finally behind him. As she moves, we see the shock and emotions finally getting the better of Rey and him breaking down, lips shivering and tears freely flowing out. He never imagined that he'd get to hear this, to have someone who knew him so well, to have someone who loved him, to have someone who just understood him for who he was.

Prani faces his back, still unable to face him directly to put out all that she had been holding in and overanalysing and bothering herself with, with regards to him. She continues how she (her brain) constantly questioned herself thinking how she couldn't understand a person and who he was but her heart had always fought against the thought and told her she was right, she did identify Rey for the real him and not his masked personality. We see a Prani, with eyes full of admiration admit how that he was not a bad man at all, that he was good at acting like one and he had a clean heart. Prani still behind Rey as he continues to break down.

Prani done with her hearfelt thoughts moves back to stand right in front of Rey and tell him that he in fact is a 'really really nice guy'. Rey who till then had his head down, faces her shocked and trying to comprehend the acceptance he had just received from the person he had wanted it from, a mixed expression of confusion and 'you know me too well' and I din't see this acceptance coming from you. Prani doesn't want to stop there, she wants the world to get to know the good man Rey that she knows! He still can't believe what she is saying, he expresses shock, he is not able to process or understand the confession that had just happened. It was the shock that she knew him so well and could see through him just like that, like no one ever has done or could! (Parboni I felt that it was more this way than the fear of revealing himself to the world).

Prani continues that this is the real Rey, the good Rey, that is the true Rey. She says that it is time to bring out the real Rey and not hide behind the mask. I believe Rey clearly wasn't ready for this conversation, he clearly din't know how much Prani knew, he din't know she had so much respect and such a high place for him, he had wanted her to see him that way, but to know that she already knew so much and saw him in an even better way than he wanted to and that someone (also, someone that mattered) to understand him in a way that no one else did was too much for him to process and reacr to at that moment.
