Before I being, these are just my interpretations or views of the Prayansh scene today. Please put out your perspectives wherever we might differ, always a joy to look at the same scene from different angles! Also, I know I've gone overboard and overanalysed it, so kindly ignore wherever you find it a bit over the top!
This digging is specially dedicated to the PB forum's wishing tree Parboni ❤🌳
So, here we go!
We begin with Prani trying to apply medicine to her wound and Rey walks in. The first thing that stands out is the way he calls out Pranati's name. It is unlike the normal Reyansh tone, today it was a little toned down and more warm, more personal (one to one). He was clearly there to talk to her about something, but the state in which he sees her reminds him of the exact event that caused that state.
Prani on seeing him immediately goes on to pick up her dupatta. Here again, there is a very subtle but a very powerful moment of Rey, behind her you can see him putting his head down, trying not to look at her as she adjusts her clothes. That wasn't a very Reyansh Khuranna thing to do, but he wasn't there as Reyansh Khuranna (hereafter called RK in this post), he was there as just Reyansh. So even before the whole eye closing saga, this was the first actual sign of him choosing to respect Prani and his own emotions and newfound direction.
And then we see him struttering, another first?! He tries asking her for the ointment, he goes 'wo' and then literally points his finger towards the table, the ointment and himself, hoping that she'd give it to him for him to help. Not to forget, we have had another ointment scene in the show earlier, during Armaan's wedding. There we saw him grabbing her and cornerning her against a wall, trying to heal her wound while still hurting and taunting her. But that was RK, tonight it was just Rey, the one with a newfound purpose, that is the difference.
The comparison and contrast between that RK and this Rey is amazing. You paralleled the two events well.👍🏼
Prani clearly hesitates but Rey doesn't leave it there, he asks her to wait, moves behind her, closes his eyes and says 'Ab toh barosa karlo' and puts out his palm waiting for her to give him the medicine. An Praniti looks on clearly shocked. This one scene is iconic for so many reasons, you can view this scene in two ways, one literally and another metaphorically. I'll just put down the methaphorical bits, He first clearly understands Prani isn't comfortable so he moves to the stance and position in which he is at his very raw or weakest self (eyes closed - blind, behind her) and puts out his hand allowing her to do what she wants to do, she can use this opportunity and trust him, to put her hand in his and guide him or she can do the exact opposite, attack. Here Rey literally presents Prani with his most honest, vulnerable, open form, trusting her enough to do the right thing. Prani places the tube on his hand, metaphorically trusting him as she stares at him, trying hard to decipher the man before her and his ways. As she lowers her dupatta, it's her turn to meet him at the same level, guard down, open to trust and presenting herself in the most open and honest form.
A pure symbolism of trust. No tricks or anything.
As Prani clutches on to her dupatta for dear life, Rey makes the first touch and guess what? Prani is affected, the touch clearly still bothers her, makes her feel them feels, invariably. As the entire scene proceeds, we don't see Praniti Mishra, rather the Prani who fell in love with Rey years ago, his every move and every touch bothering her and leaving an impact.
The same way it wasn't RK but Rey today, this wasn't Pranati Mishra but Rey's Prani today. An acute symbolism of transition from teenage sweethearts to adult lovers is there.
After the entire saga, Rey doesn't immediately go back to his self, he waits, eyes closed. Prani pulls back her dupatta, gets the tube back and asks Rey to open his eyes. And then only my baby boy actually opens his eyes, every move he makes until then, made at her mercy & call and she thanks him. And he in turn thanks her back for trusting him. We've already discussed and come to realise that he wants her to trust him and today we see him put himself in an unfamiliar place to earn it and he does.
Every other aspect constant,he'd be willing to do everything to win her back and keep her in his life. But his own family members(esp Dadi and after what V did to her) and with Archit in the picture he's still in a confused state. What he's sure of is,he wants both Jugnu and Pranati to be safe.
You can look at this entire scene as a romance bit and also as a trust metaphor, works both ways!
Today's conversation marks a new journey for Reyansh. However, there will be times when he'd get distracted. Heck,he might even fall into dadi's trap. In spite of that,he'll fight back hard to regain Pranati's trust and redeem himself in her eyes. There are changes that his love for Jugnu brought in him. There'd be changes that his love for Pranati would bring in.
