This kind of dedication has been joked about a lot in BW. I’ve seen Ranveer being mocked as well for it and Aamir gets negative press for it.

We applaud HW actors for it while mocking BW celebs.

I think there's equal positive and negative press for doing alot of prep. You say Aamir is bashed for it but he is also coined Mr.Perfect.

Maybe their is mocking but for example Anupama herself in this interview which millions can see online applauding that prep.

I can only speak for myself here but I applaud HW actors while mock BW actors for it because :

A) I find them doing it for publicity than anything else to create an image

B) Seeing the end result where I find them too artificial and wannabe than their western counterparts. There's something very genuine about some HW actors using method acting but the same thing when I see actors in BW using, I find it VERY theatrical and fake as if they are trying to tell the audience ki look I've done method acting.

And I feel this is only a BW thing. Surprisingly I've not seen such things in regional films.

Exactly. The films they do are so dumb. Half of them are remakes of HW or the South. Then they copy their HW counterparts and brag about how hard they worked to grow their hair or get fat or spent hours locked in their room. It just sounds hilarious.

I get what you mean. I know it’s annoying when they go on harping about the process.

I understand that HW folks are more earnest and silently move on while perfecting their art. But we do hear about their process as much.

I shouldn’t have included “we” but in context BW people whose job is acting looking down on people who actually try to be better and strive for perfection.

Aamir’s Mr. perfection is term used more to belittle and mock him than compliment. Atleast that’s what I have seen.

But in the same interview she said most insiders mock the prep and process herself. (Let me clarify , insider here means everyone who is part of BW)

I tried to find the panel to see if she corrected the person but in vain.

Its mostly about going to gym and building 6 packs or beef up for a film..

There's no internalising the role and even if they do it, its superficial

The horror stories they share about their prep is indeed not something I can appreciate. I think I draw a line at physically harming themselves to feel like the character. Thats not acting for me, I can't appreciate it. I don't mock them but I do call out such behaviour cause I find it necessary to speak on this issue.

Please let’s not compare rs to sushant. Sushant literally started from nothing and his pr never went over drive in films they were replaced or how he prepared for roles. Rs literally had millions of articles being printed on how he was preparing for the role in pv, locked himself in dark rooms, him and his wife pr went on overdrive. Last movie I saw of rs was pv but I was disgusted the amount of overhype and Oscar entry unoriginal movie like gully boy got. If they would’ve chosen original story like chhichhore, they would’ve had a chance of being picked. Nepotism is strong here. They mocked sushant for everything but he was a one man army without anybody supporting him, his talent remained. I still wish this didn’t happened to him.
