I would like a list of all the industries that have such a toxic mafia like environment and where the head honcho hosts an embarrassing bitchfest tv show like KWK.
And I would like to see where Jimmy disagreed with what you said.
He clearly talked about putting down others in the guise of jokes, which he is saying is the problem.
I am now certain not one in this thread saw Jimmy's video, although I won't say anything, nobody wants to see the face of Faridoon chutiya.

the only likeable thing about Faridoon is he gets under the skin of that lowlife Rajeev Masand.

I agree......but then BW has become a family business....its Mom and Pop run business.....agar change lana hai...toh it should be at the right place......The Govt should take over BW as well....have the basic guide lines....makes rules for the play....ye sab karne se nepotism kam hoga.....what is the use of going after KJo and Alia.....you will shoo them out and 10 years ke baad there will be 10 more KJos and 20 more Alias....running the show.....my point is if u want to change something ....u have to do it the right way.....
coming to superstar's kids being promoted like a superstar...but do they become superstars because of the promotion?? Sonam, Abhishek, Tushar, Uday, Bobby Deol, Esha Deol , Ranbir Kapoor's cousin, Pariniti....all these nepo kids...ban gaye superstar? 😆 Superstar toh audience banati hai...promotion nahi...Salman launched Suraj, aayush and shetty.....how many superstars are there? Not even Salman's own 2 brothers...
rahi mediocrity ki baat.....that is in the minds of people.....will u call Salman Khan who does 300 cr movies ...a mediocre star? yes he can't act...but his power to bring the audience to the theaters is excellent..his producers earn crores......mediocrity depends on the job u are supposed to do...let us not forget that BW has an audience for all kinds of movies.....depends on what ur taste is....for people who like Salman and Tiger...they excel in their skill while Raj Kumar Rao and Nawazuddin will fall falt on their face for such audience....so let us not have that much superiority complex and start judging people for what they like...My treasure might be ur trash and vice versa....
And I also don't understand...that we are talking about some star kid being launched by his Dad...if that is fair or unfair...and people start bringing ki I would like to live in Saudi Arabia....next what are we going to discuss... rape?....
lol, your very defense of nepotism is that it's everywhere, that's what you've quoted from Jimmy Shergill in your opening post, it's everywhere like sexism is everywhere, the point being, it exists to varying degrees, and no where does nepotism exist to the degree that it exists in bollywood, just like Saudi Arabia is more sexist than Canada, bollywood is more nepotist than say the medical field.
You've made my entire point, the actors you've listed are all mediocre, all products of nepotism, talentless garbage, they would never have got a chance if not by virtue of where they were born, why would you wanna limit yourself to a tiny minuscule pool of star kids when you have a population of 1.3 billion? Audience decide who to make a star, true, but the market is flooded with star kids who benefit from heavy promotions, more visibility, they get all of this without doing anything. When you get everything without having to work for it, it breeds mediocrity.
Salman is a mediocre star, his movies are garbage, sure they do good business now, after how many years of flops and disasters before Dabangg happened?.. still he was getting films..., hit and run case, black buck, harassing, bullying and abusing various people, an outsider would've been finished.ages ago.
You mentioned Rajkumar Rao and Nawazuddin, sure, they don't get as much audience, but what about the likes of Amitabh Bacchan, Rajesh Khanna, Akshay and SRK? they did pretty well, don't you think? should we assume that that was the best the country that had to offer, and now we can safely close the doors and let insiders rule?

That's not right. I did watch the video. His point of view sucks and doesnt provide a solution to the problem. Acc. to him, settle with wherever you are, or please adjust a little. Work in TV, work in Web Series, there are so many medias now. Let's not dream big even if you have talent, because you know such unfair is usual in life, in industry. 👏
An artist should not have any limitation in dreaming big in the first place. These talented outsiders, including Jimmy himself, are programmed this way, because that's all they get, limitations everywhere. Limitations to access, limitations to get a lead role in a movie, limitations in hype, in promotions. So after a while, 99.99% DO settle in small. Problem occurs when the remaining fewest refuse to budge in, refuse to bow down to this unfair system and still wants to dream big, because you know, probably they were the most optimistic, overtly dreamy super motivated guys, who thought that their talent can make them big enough.
Barring a few like SRK and Akki, we are never going to see an outsider Superstar/star anymore. Along with these 99.99% batch, even audience has learnt to 'settle' in mediocrity I bet.

Ah, you are being idealistic, Jimmy is realistic. And also my point to Sharpener wasn't that, she pointed out something as if Jimmy didn't condemned it.

@Red I don't understand this argument? How is an actor forced on you??? Did someone from YRF drag you to watch WAR? Did they blackmail you with a gun on your forehead? Is watching the movie a necessity that you had NO OPTION but to watch??? 😕 If you don't like Tiger Shroff, don't watch his movies. If enough people stop watching his movies, producers will stop taking him. I hate Tiger but unfortunately he seems to have an audience who throng to watch his movies. As long as his movies work, he will keep getting work. Nothing we can do about it.
@Blue Sid Malhotra, Kangana, Kriti Sanon, Ayushman, Karthik, Bhumee, Tapsee, Vaani, Deepika, Kiara, Disha Pathani, Jacqueline, Kriti Kharbanda, Anushka Sharma, Rajkumar Rao, are all still around and getting lead roles in spite of multiple failures.
Okay maybe "forced on us" isn't the right choice of words, but let me see if I can pen my thoughts down in a coherent manner. It's all jumbled up in my head and makes sense to me, but I don't think I'm getting it out right.
Let's start from the beginning. Nepotism exists. Period. There's no argument about that. It exists in every industry and why not? If I had a multi-million dollar business, I would want my kids to follow in my footsteps. If I struggled to become a well-known star, then I would want my kids to have it easier. Why should they struggle when I already have? I have no qualms saying that we cannot ban nepotism in Bollywood. That's asking too much.
What my problem is that despite multiple signs, in Bollywood, nepo kids just keep getting chance after chance, while hardworking outsiders often get passed up for the same movies.
Let's take a look at Sonam Kapoor as an example. That girl has categorically proven that she has no acting skills, is tone deaf, and calls privilege karma. Yet she repeatedly keeps getting movies. When I say outsiders are written off after one failure, I don't literally mean "one". Sonam Kapoor had a bad slew of films. Her debut film itself was rejected at the box office. She is remembered for Neerja. The other movies that did well weren't because of her. Ranjhanaa is remembered for Dhanush and Abhay Deol. I Hate Luv Storys was because of the chemistry and story. Pad Man - Akshay Kumar. So on.
Now let's take a look at Arjun Kapoor as another example. He proved his acting chops with his first film, Ishaqzaade, and followed it up with a few good films. Then he just seemed to stop caring after Gunday and it shows. His career path is less than glorious, yet he's still here, getting movie after movie. He was Ashutosh Gowarikar's first choice for Panipat! I wonder what actually happened that made Gowarikar say something like that.
How about the new batch of star kids? Jhanvi Kapoor and Ananya Pandey can't act. They showed that with their first film itself. I can't even classify Ananya Pandey as a star kid, but still these girls are getting film after film over contemporaries like Tripti Dimri or Tara Sutaria or Radhika Madan.
In fact, even star kids that haven't entered the industry are getting more focus over actors already part of the industry. Aryan Khan, Abram, Taimur, Ibrahim Khan, Suhana Khan, Aarav Kumar, Khushi Kapoor, etc. feature in the news on an almost daily basis. Suhana Khan has already been on the cover of Vogue! But what about actors currently in the industry? Actors who have been around for years and, in some cases, decades? Or outsiders who proved themselves yet don't get featured as much? I know Notebook didn't do well, but Zaheer Iqbal was pretty good. Why isn't talked about? Vidyut Jamwal is basically in the same category as Tiger Shroff, but Tiger, a more recent entrant, gets the big movies and the big stories compared to Vidyut. Every third or fourth topic in this forum is now about SSR, Manoj Bajpayee, Irrfan Khan, Jimmy Sheirgill, etc. But where was this discussion before?
You say "if you don't like Tiger Shroff, don't watch his movies" and "did they blackmail you with a gun". But my argument is how can I avoid a movie if that's what features everywhere? I went and watched War in theatres for HR. Period. I'm sorry if the producers and directors of BW think that people watched it for Tiger. Most people didn't (at least based on what I saw on SM). I also watched The Sky is Pink in theatres. Yes both have nepo kids, but this is the crux of my argument.
Let's assume for a second that I wasn't on this forum or on social media or anywhere else. Let's assume that a majority of my choices of movies comes from the trailers I see on TV and the news I see on channels like Aaj Tak and Star News and whatever other news channels are most watched in India. Because right now only about a quarter of India's population is actually on social media or forums or on YouTube or wherever. So three-quarters of the population gets its entertainment from regular TV. Now if I decided to watch a movie, how could I choose The Sky is Pink if I only saw its trailer once, but War's trailer appeared every 30 minutes, Ghungroo was playing on every channel every 20 to 30 minutes, HR and Tiger were getting all the interviews, and the media kept talking about what HR and Tiger did today to promote War.
Yes both movies have nepo kids, but this ties back to what I said above. I'm not against nepotism. I doubt nepotism can be removed from anywhere. My problem is that War got so much coverage that The Sky is Pink got drowned out in that noise. This is just one example. I had this top of mind so I used it. But if you look at just the past 5 years of Bollywood, I'm sure you'll find more such examples - one movie starring nepo kids was more in the news than other movies either starring nepo kids or outsiders.
I'm sorry that my response got so long. I had to really think it out and present it in what I hope is a coherent and flowing manner.
