No they were equally mahaan or maybe slightly less. When during his Suta practical exam

, Dusshashan was making fun of Karna, it was Arjun who supported him but later they suddenly started abusing Sutaputra Karna (that's why I said the show had no rationale)

In the childhood Karna was a friend of Pandavas and had visited him for dinner. Yudhishtir even after Dyut Sabha called Karna as the most Mahan vyakti which will even walk on this earth

And yes Karna didn't like any action of Duryodhan, he had broker his friendship with him and was only with him due to the indebtedness.

Duryodhan on the other hand was the winner of the best friend award for all times. 24 by 7 he only thought of Karna (after the Dyut Sabha) when Karna broke their bond of friendship. Nothing pleased him at all, not even the Vanwaas of Pandavas.

There they showed a love story of Duryodhan's daughter Lakshmama and Samb Krishna's son. Duryodhan originally was not ready for this, but later understanding the feelings of his daughter he agreed. Karna liked this act of Duryodhan and smiled at him. That smile meant life to Duryodhan. He said something like today after 13 years have I seen a smile on your face and it's directed to me, I want to start celebrations across states. Had Yudhishtir asked me for anything today I would have given him in one go and all those stuffs

Yaar Duryodhan might have been a true friend to Karna, I am not doubting his feelings, but he was certainly not a spinless fan to him.

Ok 🤔🤔

I should stay as far as I can from this serial 😆😆

BTW I did a little research & saw that this SPK was made by the same production house as SP's Mahabharat. 😆 So of course both are similar.

No offence to anyone but I find it really funny that some who love Karna find excuses and various factors to support him of his worst wrongdoings and on the other hand we have some who hate Karna so much that they find fault even in his good deeds.

If any character evokes such an extreme reaction , normally the writer of such a character deserves praise.

But coming to Karna he was the most grey but there also might be 2 reasons why he has very negative shades and very positive shades

1) The same character can be so vile as seen in Dyut Sabha or so great in charity and his refusal of the throne ,that many can't accept can be the same person.

2) Also Mahabharata was narrated to Arjuna's lineage, a Pandava. The brother of a Pandava could not be a villain so had to redeem him or have a lot of positive characteristics in him.

If Karna was so good, Arjuna killing him would have been unpardonable so jad to add negative characteristics the justify the killing

To be honest the whole brother conflict is what is interesting, nuanced and layered.

If Karna was the biological son of the charioteer ,then his story would have been a suta son befriended by a king who was loyal to him and died in a war for him and that would never created so much drama.

Lets not make only karan a villan here

Yudhistra was a villan he pawned his brothers and wife in dice .is that nobel?

Arjuna was a bad : He killed karan unlawfully and also he let draupadi to be shared among his brothers. Is she not an human? how can you share her with your brothers?

Beeshma: Was bad he let draupadi cheer haran in front of eyes as a great grand father he has to protect his daughter in law. he even kidnapped amba, ambalika etc for his brothers kids

Shantanu was bad he was blind in love at old age although that woman was saying his elder son should let go off throne for her not yet born kids from shantanu in future

Dronacharya was bad he let his best friend daughter humiliate in sabha

Drithrastra forgot his kingly duties to protect all citizens and women of empire

Bheema kept quiet when draupadi was humiliated

Kunti was bad she left baby karan helpless and alone

Gandhari was bad blind in sons love

I mean everyones wrong and bad that way why target only karan? all are bad

Everyone had done bad things but many also had done many good things no one was a saint person in shanatus family all had their faults and good points

Karan was wrong when it came to draupadi in sabha he let her be humiliated - that was also because may be drapadi humiliated him in swayamwar

Imagine karna knows panadavs are his brothers during dice play - he would never allow dushasan to humiliate draupadi bec shes his sister in law or his brothers to become slaves

Karan told kunti no he will never hurt his 4 brothers only arjun he will fight - that shows he loves his bros and want their safety, he will ensure their safety in war and he did he did not kill sahadev, nakul and yudishtra although he had defeated them in war he let them gooo

May be if karan rath did not get struck and he did not have curse to forget prayer to get weapon he may defeated arjun and may be he would not kill even arjun as hes his younger brother who knows?

So all had good and bad points

Karna had only two good things:

1. Friendship with Duryodhana

2. Daanveer

Rest of the times, he was an egoistic, chauvinistic adharmi criminal who led the rape/molestation attempt of a woman in front of everyone, was part of murder attempt in lakshagrih, was part of murder of Abhimanyu etc etc

Sorry. Not impressed.

He wasn't even a true friend to Duryodhan, else he wouldn't have promised Kunti the life of Yudhishtir, despite knowing that his death meant victory of Duryodhan and that of Bheem despite having known that he could kill Duryodhan

Danveerta I agree and also he was a great warrior

@bold - In major versions of MBH, Karna failed to string the bow. In others, Draupadi merely said "I will not wed a suta" at her swayamvar at which she was entitled to select her own husband.

This is no way justifies the criminal molestation attempt by Karna Dussasana Duryodhana Shakuni.

This is like blaming the victims of acid attacks.

@red - Karna does merely "let them disrobe Draupadi. He is THE ONE who orders her disrobing.

The insult and mangling of other characters just to elevate Karna portrayed in all crap tv shows annoys me.

Read below:

Hearing these words, a loud uproar rose from among those present in that assembly. And they all applauded Vikarna and censured the son of Suvala. And at that sound, the son of Radha, deprived of his senses by anger, waving his well-shaped arms, said these words,--'O Vikarna, many opposite and inconsistent conditions are noticeable in this assembly. Like fire produced from a faggot, consuming the faggot itself, this thy ire will consume thee. These personages here, though urged by Krishna, have not uttered a word. They all regard the daughter of Drupada to have been properly won. Thou alone, O son of Dhritarashtra in consequence of thy immature years, art bursting with wrath, for though but a boy thou speakest in the assembly as if thou wert old. O younger brother of Duryodhana, thou dost not know what morality truly is, for thou sayest like a fool that this Krishna who hath been (justly) won as not won at all. O son of Dhritarashtra, how dost thou regard Krishna as not won, when the eldest of the Pandavas before this assembly staked all his possessions? O bull of the Bharata race, Draupadi is included in all the possessions (of Yudhishthira). Therefore, why regardest thou Krishna who hath been justly won as not won? Draupadi had been mentioned (by Suvala) and approved of as a stake by the Pandavas. For what reason then dost thou yet regard her as not won? Or, if thou thinkest that bringing her hither attired in a single piece of cloth, is an action of impropriety, listen to certain excellent reasons I will give. O son of the Kuru race, the gods have ordained only one husband for one woman. This Draupadi, however, hath many husbands. Therefore, certain it is that she is an unchaste woman. To bring her, therefore, into this assembly attired though she be in one piece of cloth--even to uncover her is not at all an act that may cause surprise. Whatever wealth the Pandavas had--she herself and these Pandavas themselves,--have all been justly won by the son of Suvala. O Dussasana, this Vikarna speaking words of (apparent) wisdom is but a boy. Take off the robes of the Pandavasa asalso the attire of Draupadi.
