Movies out of box

Shuddhi ( deals with juvenile laws of india )

Urvi

care of kancharapalem - I don't think I have seen more realistic movie everything in this movie is good be it casting, storywriting just perfect.

Vikram Vedha - Bollywood could never dare, if it dares it would never match this. Simply awesome triller and actors are amazing.

96 - a good romatic movie about school love.

Fidaa - well fidaa stood out for me because of the female lead's character and sai Pallavi's acting. Rarely in romatic movies we see a female lead's character having individuality and realistic flaws.

Arundhanti - literally awesome fanasty movie. I don't know if it is out of box or not but it is worth watching.

Tv shows

Rishta. Com - I don't know why is not hyped. It is written way ahead of time. The content which today's sass bahu audience will never relate.

Dahleez - well the only thing wrong in his series was first sight love but this series is worth watching.

Pow - a well written series which did not get its due.

Everest

Ek hasina thi

Yeh pyaar nahi toh kya hai

I guess this is it which reminded out of box still end.

Special mention

Yeh un dino ki baatein ( the first 100-150 episodes ) - the show was something else, a stress buster and had everything at one time. The redemption track of main lead was well written. The falling of love phase and layered characters it was perfect. I don't think I can ever get over the starting episodes. I still remmond people to watch the initial episodes.

@bold: those movies have been recommended to me by others. I must make time and find themm and watch them. (I'll watch all the recommended movies.. but I'm attracted by sci-fi mixed with quirky mixed mith 'out there' even a bit of horror'.

As long as they are 'not the usual fare' - not into romantic stuff much, and i cry easy if a tearjerker.. so don;t make me sad too much ahaha)

Thanks again for suggestions🤗- like I've said I am not thanking each poster individually but please believe all that I am intent on watching everything ..or at least read synopsys and see trailers/scemnes.. see if I can get into it.. providing they are subbed- for Indian/foreign movies)

****re TV shows: can I find them somewhere with English Subs? If not English, I can do French or Italian subs.. even manage in Spanish...

I've read the novel it's based on - by some Scandinavian guy if I remmeber correctly... And the novel was real good. A great murder mystery.. I remember the scarf thing..

Dunno about the novel. But the movie was just bad and bland. I love thrillers and this one didn’t make any sense. Thousand things happened and nothing lead anywhere. Even the actors looked uninterested. The whole “ case “ that was solved has no relation to the other things that happened. And even those weren’t given any closure. They just started multiple endless ghost chases and left it at that.

After I've replied to you I went and checked and yes, it's written by JO NESBO - and I've read a ton of Jo nesbo's books.

In fact this is a series in which Detective Harry Hole is uncovering all kind of weird and crazy murders.. I remmeber he even goes MIA in one book. The books are worth reading if you have time.

Sad to hear the movie is subpar.

But then the original GIRL WITH A DRAGON TATTOO ( a movie I wish everyone could watch) was an amazing Scandinavian movie and although I liked Rooney Mara in the HW version.. the movie didn't strike me as hard as the original, 2009 (I think?) version, with Noomi Rapace.

So..maybe there's something of this Scandinavian Sppirit that HW cannot 'catch' and reproduce through their version.

Okay: let's do it this way. I 'll start watching and see how I feel about it... Then I'll come back and tell you if I liked it or not. Let's hope I liked it like you did - because I loved the book. I know the story well.
