Heyyy y'all?😆 Wassup? I havent been much active on the forum lately... time constraints...😕 But I do manage to catch up with the episodes...and episodes these days are purely Blissful!😳😃
Aditya and Zoya...or rather Harshu and Jenny! My God! These two take my breath away with their acting and skill! They are so skillful at their work that at times I actually forget that its Aditya and Zoya romancing each other. I actually feel its Harshu and Jenny and its all happening in reality! 😳😳😆 (No I am not a hard core shipper...I just love both a lot and wish them all the luck in their lives...❤️ Though, I wont mind ager in ki qismet bhi aik doosre ke sath judd jaye tou 😉😆)
Anyway...so the question that has been plaguing me for a while is something that has probably been discussed before as well...
I dont understand Why Zoya has been shown as a Muslim?
You see, they could have shown her a Hindu as it is... Why go for her being a Muslim?
This question resurfaced in my mind during AdiYa's wedding. See, if they had shown AdiYa getting a contract marriage or court marriage, that would probably have made some sense if we keep Islamic restrictions aside and focus on legalities only. But they showed her getting married as per Hindu rituals. I just dont understand the reason behind her making a Muslim then. 😕 Even after marriage, Adi puts sindoor and all... Its all very sweet to watch, but then Zoya could already have been a Hidnu na... why show her as a Pseudo Muslim- Pseudo Hindu? 😕
P.S. This post has nothing derogatory for any religion at all. I respect all religions and I totally love Zoya and Adi's wedding sequence and her post wedding avatar. Its just that I dont understand the CVS Logic behind making Zoya a Muslim rather than a Hindu itself... 😊

I have the same question
Why they showed her as a Muslim woman?

It didn't change anything in the drama

It is really doesn't make sense for me

Yes...exactly... Nothing would have changed in the drama. This added aspect of her being a Muslim doesnt add anything to the story at all...

But just as you say why not make her a Hindu, why does it matter if she's a Muslim?

If her religion doesn't have any relevance to the story and doesn't add anything, what difference would it have made if she was a Hindu?

I feel like the intention of the writers was to show that the characters in the show only care about their love for each other, that they don't care what religion the other follows. It's like the writers are trying to normalise people from two different religions getting married. Usually in shows and even in society it's a big deal two people from different religions getting married, but here it's shown as completely irrelevant.

For me what I like the most is the respect both Adi and Zoya show to each others religion. I have no doubt that Adi would've been happy to have an Islamic marriage, just the way Zoya was happy with a Hindu one.

I get what you say... 😊 But then this again does not add up to anything. If it had been a religious show, I would have understood the CVS logic... but here, it just wouldnt have mattered had they kept Zoya a Hindu or made Adi a Muslim!
Inter religion marriages are still a major thing in many cultures. The attempt to normalize something like that is kind of futile...because where religion is concerned, majority people are quite jazbaati... 😊
Anyway..this is just my opinion. I totally respect yours and agree with you on some points too... ❤️

I also think they want to normalize it - first comes the human then comes their religion :) ..all religions overall preach the same ..and so I think if media starts showing more inter-faith marriages the general audience that watches TV (who otherwise have religion issues) might change their views ..

They also might bring it up once their families get more cordial ..so we get to see festivals celebrated by both cultures ..cuisines of both cultures ..places of worship and the likes ..sometimes people of a particular religion are so closeted that they don't know much about other religions and hence have biases and wrong ideas ..media plays a huge role in changing the mindset of a vast majority of its audience ..so I think it's nice too see them normalize a hindu-muslim marriage :)

I don't understand why hue and cry is made over Zoya's religion. This is not the first topic on her religion. Umpteen no. of posts were made on her religion.
I have been raised in Mumbai and I am telling that I have seen most of the Muslim women without burqas. It's only after shifting to Hyderabad that I saw women wearing burqas. Lot of Muslim girls and women wear western clothes in Mumbai. Many Muslim families dance garba and dandia during the Navratri, celebrate Diwali, play Holi. At the same time, they fast during Ramzan, pray 5 times a day. This is pretty normal in Mumbai and that's what the cvs are showing.

It's not like Zoya or the Siddique family doesn't follow Islam. They showed Zoya fasting during Ramzan, Siddiqui family celebrated Eid so the cvs are not ignoring the Muslim religion.

I have seen lot of Christian women wearing mangalsutras. Nowadays mangalsutras have become more like fashion jewelry. Some Hindu women put sindoor, some don't so if Zoya puts sindoor that doesn't make her a Hindu.

I am sure they will again show eid festival celebration in Bepannaah now that it's coming soon.

Very well said... I love your comment... Makes sense too... 😊
But Vandana, sometimes media also plays a part in diverting the general audience from the bigger truth.
We all know that its human nature to choose the easy way... and religions are considered antiquated by many. But if the media kind of changes the facts for one religion in the name of normalization of something else that goes against that religion's laws, then I think this is a Negative role that the media is playing.
I am not only talking about Islam...I am talking about all religions. If some Hindu, Jewish, Christian, Zoroastrian etc .rituals or laws or rules are changed or altered in the name of normalization, I will find that very wrong too...
Now when people say that entertainment should be kept separate from religion...Thats what I ask too... that why do entertainers bring religion like this in their entertaining shows? Thats why I was asking about the Cvs logic... 😆
