Comedian Pranit More has found himself at the centre of a heated controversy after a segment from his show triggered widespread criticism online. The discussion around the comedian’s content intensified after a joke involving a ?370 biryani bill led to accusations of promoting problematic views and sparked a debate about the limits of comedy and crowd work.

The controversy began after 23 year old Himanshu Jangra shared an incident from a date where he said he spent ?370 on a plate of chicken biryani and expected a “return” on his investment. His comments during the show drew heavy criticism, following which he apologised and deleted his social media accounts. Pranit More also issued an apology for the hurt caused by the segment.

Amid the ongoing backlash, comedian Munawar Faruqui, who had earlier expressed his disagreement with the conversation that took place on the show, has now appealed to people to stop targeting those involved and move on. Sharing a video message on his Instagram Stories, Munawar addressed his followers and said, “Mujhe lagta hai ab hum sabko tham jana chahiye. Comedian ne bahut galat baat boli, crowd work mein bhi bahut galat baat hui. Us ladki ne bhi jo bola, main usse disagree karta hoon. Unhone jo bola, mujhe sunna pasand nahi hai, lekin ek level hota hai.

He further added, “FIR ho gayi, job chali gayi, career khatam ho gaya, samaj mein izzat chali gayi, sab ho gaya. Unke saath unki baaton ke liye bahut bura hua hai, lekin ab tham jao. Content ke naam par jo unhe nichoda ja raha hai, bas karo bhai.

Concluding his message, Munawar said, “Un logon ne jo baat boli, uska zakhm unhe mil gaya. Jab kisi ki laash niklegi na, tab tumhe samajh aayega. Bas karo ab. Har cheez ki ek limit hoti hai. Legally unpar jo hona hoga, ho jayega, par tum ab chup ho jao.

Following the backlash, both Pranit More and Himanshu Jangra addressed the controversy and apologised for their remarks. Himanshu expressed regret over his comments and acknowledged the criticism surrounding the incident, while Pranit also issued an apology, stating that he never intended to hurt anyone’s sentiments. Both apologies came amid growing discussions around accountability and the impact of statements made during comedy shows and public platforms.
