It could be because of the concept! The concept of two people coming together whose respective spouses had affair is very very unusual. Adding that these two people belong to two different religions makes it even rarest of rare? So it would add some weight to the concept

My two cents on this topic
1. They didn't need to show her as Muslim..maybe they did it as an excuse to have her speak Urdu which would make her even sweeter and more appealing? Breaking out of the Maya image maybe

2. This has nothing to do with her religion, but I don't understand why majority Indian TV serials show new brides as saree donning mangalsutra wearing bahus...Zoya was married previously too, and she didn't change her dressing style, why change it now? Do all women throw out their wardrobe post marriage? The only thing I did differently post marriage was to add a wedding ring on my finger...other than that my wardrobe went right with me to my husband's home... It annoys me to no end to be honest...

Very well said... I love your comment... Makes sense too...😊
But Vandana, sometimes media also plays a part in diverting the general audience from the bigger truth.
We all know that its human nature to choose the easy way... and religions are considered antiquated by many. But if the media kind of changes the facts for one religion in the name of normalization of something else that goes against that religion's laws, then I think this is a Negative role that the media is playing.
I am not only talking about Islam...I am talking about all religions. If some Hindu, Jewish, Christian, Zoroastrian etc .rituals or laws or rules are changed or altered in the name of normalization, I will find that very wrong too...
Now when people say that entertainment should be kept separate from religion...Thats what I ask too... that why do entertainers bring religion like this in their entertaining shows? Thats why I was asking about the Cvs logic...😆

If it's for the betterment of humanity then what's the problem?Ganga was being polluted by the Durga Idols after visarjan so the government banned it and made artificial ponds for submerging the idols I have no problem in that being a Hindu because I believe in be good and do good and for me my country is greater than my religion

You can still have a party with friends and family without having to do all the "rasams". Also, in India, Aditya and Zoya would have had to get married under the Special Marriage Act, unless one of them converts.

Exactly! I was actually expecting them to do court marriage. They could have gone for it if Anjana hadn't created any tamasha and hadn't asked Adi to choose between her and Zoya. After all, as Harsh was a lawyer, it would have been easy for him to get AdiYa married in court in a day or two.

TM, I understood ur point. I guess the reason behind the cvs going for Hindu marriage was trps. Any marriage track in any show and the trps sky rocket. The cvs took a risk by getting a Hindu man marry a Muslim woman with Hindu rituals and if that risk worked or not, we will get to know on Thursday when the trps would be out.

The reason why cvs didn't go for Muslim marriage, the reason u already gave in ur post. It would have been void if a Muslim person marries a person belonging to another religion. I know Islam doesn't allow inter-religious marriage and I am glad the cvs respected Islam by not showing AdiYa getting married with Muslim rituals.

There could be another reason too that love and humanity is above all religions. They tried to show communal problems in the riots track. Though the track was good and the message was beautiful that humanity is above every religion (Aditya fought with Hindus to save Muslims lives and Zoya fought with Muslims to save Hindus lives) yet the plan backfired as it didn't get desired no. of trps as it was a filler track. So that's why the cvs didn't take that route again by showing Waseem objecting Adi's religion or choosing Arshad because of their common religion.

Religion in India is a sensitive topic and the cvs didn't wanted to create unnecessary controversies.

They could have gone for court marriage which was the most logical way in this situation. But I think cvs wanted to show it different from Yash-Zoya marriage. They had a court marriage but zoya always wanted a big wedding so I guess they wanted to show a marriage with all the rituals this time as zoya had wished. Also Like subha mentioned trps are a big factor. About zoya's changed look then again with yash she use to only wear MS and nothing else so I think they are trying to show she wants to completely take over aditya's rituals this time.
About her being a muslim then they wanted to show her different from other tv leads. If she was hindu then she would have been like any other hundreds of character on tv who is shy, feminine, pretty. The muslim factor puts a little different shade to her character like her beautiful urdu which adi loves very much 😆
They also showed love trumps everything, zoya marrying adi is as normal as a hindu marrying a hindu.

I too had this question...but I found my answer on the biryani competition day😛
It is just to create more occasions of festivals. N in itv dictionary festival/party = more n more drama😛
So get the point?😆

I think they r just showing the progressive society who respects every religion but gives a damn infront of love and truth..and there are evils and odds against couples even if its nothing about the difference in religion..

Yes they r not including inter religious beliefs in adiya...I would have love them showing unity in diversity in the married couple..all I wished was Zoya doing her namaz n ADI niharing her n she teaching him to do ibadat n ADI teaching Zoya to pray in gurudwara Punjabi style...anyway it's their take...well regarding jenshad their chemistry is very natural as adiya bt still u can feel they r colleagues n great frnds n nothing more 😃😊

I do agree that they should have shown a court marriage and I think eventually they will get it registered under the special marriage act (they have to), I think the reason for a Hindu marriage was the compulsion to show a grand wedding, and since according to the Indian personal laws a Nikkah isn't possible without a conversion from Aditya's side, there are no such restrictions when it comes to a Hindi wedding. It was the easiest way to show a grand wedding that would involve some religious sacredness to it for the TRP audience.

They also might bring it up once their families get more cordial ..so we get to see festivals celebrated by both cultures ..cuisines of both cultures ..places of worship and the likes ..sometimes people of a particular religion are so closeted that they don't know much about other religions and hence have biases and wrong ideas ..media plays a huge role in changing the mindset of a vast majority of its audience ..so I think it's nice too see them normalize a hindu-muslim marriage :)

Loved ur comment Vandana 👏 so true. It's about time we broadened our horizons n thinking n even though the show has nothing to do with religion it is progressive in that sense. We got to see Iftar, Eid n Janmashtami celebrated in the show. Tell me one thing - had Zoya not been a Muslim had this been possible? No. So we are also getting to witness diversity n how we respect n acknowledge that.
