It does though. Have you not seen the news in the West with children and women abused. There is also a High influx of pedophiles mostly from the West getting caught in South East Asia sexually abusing children.

It happens because there isn't swift and suitable punishment that's implemented!
If every rapist who was medically beyond doubt proved is publicly stoned to death or castrated within a week and put for lifetime imprisonment I am 100% sure the rape rates will go down before long!

po*n while I find it repulsive myself, isn't the reason for this mentality. They rape because they know chances of being punished are less!

Rape is just byproduct of the rampant misogyny in India. Indian culture has no value for women and considers them second class citizens.

It starts from before birth as many are aborted as soon as the parents discover the baby is a girl. If they're allowed to be born, their brothers get better schooling, more toys, and more money spent on them as they are considered investments for their parents' old age. Girls are considered responsibilities that they have to waste money on, gather a dowry for, and ultimately she leaves to go take care of her husband's family. The culture of joint families contributes to this mess.

Girls spend their whole lives being taught to be submissive, not talk back, and groom themselves in a way that their future in-laws will like them. They're expected to do chores and serve the father and brother while the male child is treated like a prince who has to do nothing for anybody. They spend their whole lives thinking they can do anything they want because they are special.

Nothing is going to change until desi culture changes and I have no hope for that at all. The only thing modern and progressive about India is the use of cell phones. 😆

Before internet people blamed movies and cable tv

When Nibhaya incident happened I heard many blaming it on po*nography too

They say although rape, gang rape incidents are not new but the brutality, inserting iron rod, pulling out the intestines, that kind of behavior was not heard before

No. The lack of sexual awareness, sexual education and making sex a taboo is the lead cause of all this mess. Not to mention lax laws, female infanticide are all contributing factors. The society shuns lovers and people are scared to date. They cant even check in a hotel with another consenting adult. Grown ups should be allowed to do what they want and this is the only way to reduce the frustrations.
