Her hand wrapped around the glass figure, clenching her fist she watched as it smashed to the floor
Her hand dripped with blood, seemingly the only colour in her dull life
The image she showed to the world, smiling, laughing, happy.
It was all a lie.
Picking up the picture of her family she threw it across the floor, she couldnt even remember their voices anymore, years of distance did that to a person.
Her husband would be home soon, kneeling down she picked up the shattered glass with her hands, pouring it into the bin she picked up the lemon on the side
Squeezing it onto her hands, hot warm tears made its way down her face
She laughed again at her situation, 5 years of marriage and her only enjoyment was pain
Avni heard the door open, walking to the sink she washed her hands
Pressing a cold kiss to her cheek, his chapped lips made her feel sick
Glancing at her hands he looked up at her
"Kitchen accident"
"Something like that"
Avni picked up the plates, placing them on the table, he pushed his seat in
Trying a mouthful he spat it out
"What f**king crap is this"
Raising his hand he swiped her across the face, falling into the corner of the table she hissed in pain
"Sorry Vidyut, im sorry"
Lifting his foot he kicked her in the stomach "It's Sir to you bitch"
He continued to kick her till he tired himself out
Stepping back he walked away
Avni turned on her back, looking up at the ceiling, she was thankful for the window in her sight, she could see the bright twinkling stars
"Make a wish" she whispered
So she did, she wished that she would find the strength to end her own misery
Vidyut's shoes came in her sight, she didn't even flinch, guess she was used to it now
Bending down he yanked her up roughly
"Sorry Avni, you know you should have cooked properly"
Avni sat silently in his embrace, because deep down she blamed herself, she had gone against her family and married him, claiming she was in love
This wasn't love and she knew that
But as her eyes closed slowly and her head rested on his shoulder, she became very aware that this was the only love she knew.
