Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace, previously known as Battle of Galwan, is among the most awaited projects starring Salman Khan. Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the film draws inspiration from the 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese armed forces, an event that left a deep impact across the country. With a story rooted in sacrifice and the emotional realities of soldiers, the film aims to go beyond a conventional war narrative.

The latest update around the project has sparked fresh curiosity. According to a report by Mid Day, the makers are planning to include a Chinese song in the film. The track will reportedly be composed by Himesh Reshammiya, and Salman Khan is expected to shoot for it once the composition and recording are finalised. This addition is being seen as an attempt to bring a unique creative layer to the storytelling.

The report also highlights that Salman, who essays the role of late Colonel Bikumalla Santosh Babu, began shooting for the film in Ladakh in September 2025. A major portion of the schedule was wrapped by mid December. However, the team resumed work in February 2026, with reshoots currently underway in Mumbai. Nearly 40 additional days of filming have been planned to refine key portions and enhance the narrative.

Speaking about the film’s title change earlier, Apoorva Lakhia explained that the decision was part of a larger creative evolution. Speaking to Mid day, 'Changing the title may feel sudden to SK sir's fans, but it was never an overnight decision. From the start, we had registered two titles Battle of Galwan and Maatrubhumi. As we went through the journey of making our film, we realised it was never just about a battle. At its heart, the film is about humanity, empathy, and the silent battles our soldiers fight,' he said.

Beyond its war backdrop, the film is expected to focus on the emotional and psychological dimensions of service, highlighting the personal sacrifices made by soldiers and their families. With a blend of action, drama, and music, Maatrubhumi May War Rest in Peace is shaping up to be a layered cinematic tribute that seeks to balance intensity with introspection.
