CHAPTER 70
Arnav's POV
I packed the bag with money, checking for the thousandth time whether I packed the right amount or not. I cant risk Khushi's life now, after everything I had put her through, I want her to be safe and sound now. she called me and every word she said was I deserved. I don't care what she feels for me, all I want is her safety and that is only possible if I give them this money. This money, was all I ever thought about. Once she is back, it's all upto her, whether she wants to stay with me or want to leave me. I will never force her.
"Bhai...Akash's voice made me snap out of thoughts and I looked at him.
"Hmm...
"I will be coming along with the police, you don't have to...
"NOOO...ARE YOU MAD? They clearly said that police cant be involved in this...and they called just me...so why are you coming along?
"Bhai its not safe. he said.
"But I cant risk my Khuhsi's safety...what if they get to know and they change their mind? NOOO...I cant let Khuhsi live with those monster for another day.
"Bhai you are not thinking straight.
"I know but this time I thinking all about my love...I cant risk her now.
"Bhai...bu...
"NO...nothing...it's final...and no one is coming along with me. I said and taking the bag with 3 millions I walked out. I kept the bag safely and I closed my eyes praying to God to save my Khushi. I turned on the ignition and drove in the direction of the address they texted.
When I reached it was a completely dark alley in the outskirts of the city. It was 1 in the morning and there was no one on the street, I hoped out of my car, but their was no sight of anyone. I turned around and searched everywhere but their was no one but few minutes a bright light blinded my vision and I kept my hand to block the headlights of the car. the car halted and two men with their face covered came out. I saw their were two more cars behind. For a moment I was scared but the thought that my Khushi is near me relaxed me.
"Where is Khushi? I asked them and one of the man chuckled.
"Don't worry...she fine...but where is our money?
"I have the money. I said and from the car I took the bag out but before I was about to hand them I stopped.
"I want to see my Khuhsi first. I said and the man chuckled again but then he signaled someone and minutes later from the second car from the back seat a man hoped out and then I saw my Khushi. her eyes were covered and she looked scared. She hoped down and lost her balance as they might have pushed her top ger out. I wanted to go and help her but then I couldn't. they were holding her from both the arms as she walked gingerly on our direction. She was limping, her body looked weak.
"Seen? Now our money. He said and without thinking anything and keeping my gazes fixed on her I gave them the money.
"Good...but I hope you didn't tried to act smart with us. he said and I shook my head.
"It's the same like you said. I said.
"Give him what he wants. he ordered and as they were about to give me my Khushi a horn boomed in our ears and everyone alerted as they took they guns out.
"He bought police along. Onbe of the man screamed and their hold on Khushi tightened.
"NO...i didn't. I retaliate as I saw them pushing Khushi back in the car.
"How many times we repeated don't act smart. He said pointing his gun at me and just then the police came behind me.
"Who told you to come? I screamed at Akash as saw my Khushi going away.
"Bhai come sit in the car...
"NOOO... I yelled and followed them but police tried to stop me.
"Why you came?? I yelled and then in front of my eyes they took her away as the car in which they pushed Khushi in moved away. I quickly sit in the car ignoring everyone and followed them while the police was busy tackling the other goons.
I followed them but then they were way too fast and then I saw them leaving the car outside the forest and forcing KHushi out of the car. they enterd the forest and disappeared from my sight. I quickly reached their car and left my car behind theirs and entered the forest.
"Khushi...!!! I screamed for her but their was no sign of their presence.
"Khushi...!!!!! I screamed louder.
I ran deeper into te forest to find them but my every attempt failed but then I heards a crumbling noise of dried leaves. I turned to face them and then I saw her glimpse. She was coming out from behind the tree, a relief bought over me and I tried to smile and rush in her direction. She was walking unsteadily, and felt on her knees, but then she stood up taking the support of the bark and I walked towards me and then our eyes meet and the I stopped in my track.
"Go away... her lips moved feebly but her voice didn't reached my ears as I was too caught up in the moment. I smiled looking at her, she was breathing hard and was holding he bark ithe one hand for support.
"Go away... she muttered once again but then suddenly she came running in my direction. I rushed towards her but as we met she pushed me hard along with all her might and she fell on me. Two gunshots echoed in the air and suddenly my body felt heavy. She was on top of me resting her face on my chest.
"Khushi are you okay? I asked her but there was no response from her.
"Khushi... I fett wetness on my torso and I touched it to feel blood but it wasn't mine.
I quickly turned Khushi away from me and sitting up I scooted her body closer. Her eyes were closed and I then I saw her stomach which was now red covered with her blood.
Khuhsi? I patted her cheeks.
"What the hell you did Khushi? I patted her cheeks again but there was no response. I looked around but there was no one around.
"Please wake up for me Khushi? I cried and her eyes cracked open slightly.
"Why you did this? That bullet was for me? I yelled and then she coughed and I quickly rubbed her back. I bought her inhaler along and taking that out I tried to give her some breathe. She touched my forearmand that was the moment I realized there was a bullet in my arm. I got shot too.
"W-why did you come? she asked me as her gazes were fixed on my injury.
"Are you mad? They... As I began she looked down and I stopped.
"Khushi?
"A-Are y-you...Are you going to scold me in last moments too? he words sliced my heart. this cant be her last moments.
"Stop Khushi...don't say like that. I said and she tried to close her eyes once again but I patted her cheeks.
"You blabber a lot Khushi...now when I am asking you to talk to me...you want to sleep? I cried.
"I...I...I-a-am.. am tired. She said.
"You know you won...DI gave birth to a little girl. I told her trying to keep her engaged in the conversation till the time someone arrives to help us.
"Y-You know...i.in the...in the last minutes...no one lies...and...and I wanted to ...I wanted to tell you...I wanted to tell you...that...that...I never cheated on you. she said and her words made me guilty then I already was. Even in her last minutes she wanted to prove her innocence to me. A loud sob escaped my lips and I hugged her tighter.
"I know... I whispered.
"I know you are pure Khushi...I was wrong...I am always wrong Khushi...now when you will get alright...you punish me and I wont even say anything...i will take your any punishment.' I said to her.
"I don't have time. She whispered in my ears.
"STOP SAYING THAT KHUSHI... I yelled hugging her. the thought of her leaving me was scaring me. she took a sharp intake of breathe and suddenly her breathing got ragged. I took her inhaler out once again and tried to press it on her lips but she was getting suffocated and she was trying wiggle in arms to push it aside. She was struggling in my arms yet I couldn't do anything but then the police arrived.
"Khushi see...they are here...they are here to save you. I said but she was blinking rapidly.
"NOOO...don't close your eyes. I yelled and the tear rolled from her eyes.
"I...I lo...lo...love you... she said before I could think or say or do anything she closed her eyes. her words just caught me off guards. I always knew she loved but she she never vocalized her thoughts as she was always too shy.
I don't know when the police came and took us both to the hospital but all the while I just kept looking at her blankly, too numb to process her words, too numb to process the situation, too numb to reciprocate my love to her. all I remember was I was took into a room and she was taken into another. Di came running to me, she was crying and was saying something but then everything turned blur and faded to darkness.

I opened my eyes and my mind was blank, there was nothing going on.
"Chotte... I heard Di's voice and she laid on me to hug me.
"You scared me Chotte...don't you ever dare you do this again... what if something would have happened to you... he words when reached my mind everything came rushing to me and I realized where I was.
"Khushi...? I said and suddenly DI froze.
"Di where is KHushi... I tried to sit up but she stopped me.
"Chotte wait...
"NO Di where is my Khushi Di...don't stop me know Di... I begged as I took all the IVs out and rushed to out to see everyone, her mother, payal, akash, shyam, nani standing out in front of one door and I ran inside and my world came crashing down as I saw her eyes closed, sleeping on the bed.
"Khushi... I rushed to her but there was no response from her, as is she is not able to hear me.
"Chotte...
"Khushi...khushi get up...see we are safe...
"Chotte...
"Di see she is not listening to me.I said and Nani came forward to hug me.
"She can't listen to you Chotte...she can't listen to anyone of us. she cried and I take a step back.
"Nani...?
"Yes Chotte... I moved aside and rushed to her and shook her hard.
"Khushi stop playing with me.
"Chotte...oxygen didn't reached her brain for long and she slipped into coma. Di said.
"NOOO... I yelled.
"She will wake up for me...
"Khushi...khushi you said you love me...so you are not going to listen to me? I cried but there was response.
"Chotte... Di held me and a manly grip help me with me arm and I turned back to see it was Akash and there was tears in his eyes too.
"Akash see...
"Bhai please...
"Khuhsi please get up...I cried and then suddenly everything spinned around me as my mind swirled and I was drifted to darkness.

I opened my eyes once again and Di was sitting next to my bed with her daughter in her arms.
"See Chotte...everything is alright now.
"Di Khushi...
"She woke up. she said and I don't know whether she was lying to me to make me feel better.
"Di...
"Just know doctors came out of her room, they were checking her, when you fainted she opened her eyes and doctors had been checking her chotte... she said and tears rolled down from my eyes.
"you are not lying? I asked.
"Your love won Chotte...your love won...now go and see her... she said and once again removing all my IVs I rushed to her room and her mother was crying, hugging her tight. Payal was holding her trying to get her up from Khushi.
I walked in closer and I caught her glimpse her eyes had tears.
"Khushi? I said and aunty turned back to see me. I walked ahead and Payal moved aside.
"Khushi... I smiled looking at her and Aunty gave me the way but then my eyes landed on her and I noticed something. She wasn't moving.
"Khushi? I asked and our eyes met for a second and with tears filled in her eyes she looked away. in those eyes I saw pain, I saw hatred and I also saw one thing I was fearing of...and that was rejection.
"She got paralyzed. Aunty cried and Akash hugged Aunty trying to calm her down. I look at my Khuhsi and she was looking away. Her lower body wasn't moving...
She is paralyzed...
"Khushi...
She didn't said anything and her silence was enough to tell me she doesn't want me around but I tried once again.
"Khushi...it's...it's going to be o-okay...
But she kept looking on the other side...completely ignoring me...in her eyes I saw hatred...I saw rejection...and that was my cue...that she doesn't want me. With a heavy heart, I took a step back and walked out of the room feeling the rejection from the person I loved exactly the same way when I once rejected her love.
