I was watching Raabta. I haven't seen any bw rom-com for a long time.

Do today's youth of India behave just like Shiv-Saira from raabta? I mean to say , do they really have become, I don't what I should call it, liberal or progressive or idiot or ignorant to approach unknown stranger (girl or boy) so easily and enter his/her house?

I havn't watched Befikre but I can understand if raabta is like this then what it must be. but I guess the leads are NRIs in that movie. So I guess chalta hai. What about ADHM? Haven't watched it either.

But what about India?

Has bollywood been depicting youth of India, their rahen-sahen correctly off late?

I think it sometimes depends on upper class and middle class. Don't mean to generalize and tag them with same brush but with more money there is more liberal mindsets and influence of western lifestyles as they don't have to share their room with their middle sister or sleep with open doors or in some verandah. Middle class people are often reduced to jumping college gates to attend sastay dates or have peants on some public park followed by break up while dude becomes a engineer (just like everyone else) and goes on job hunting, and girl gets arranged marriage. 😆

Shiv (SSR) called himself a middleclass in the movie and said his "number" was "47"

I cant talk about India. But I can give my thoughts about my home country Bangladesh. Just like Boss said, casual hookups are definitely more of a thing of the upper class/well-off kids...

Middle class communities are way too conservative for that...The "Log kya kahengey" concern is huge among them...Parents are usually overprotective about their children and if they find out that the son/daughter is seeing someone they are quickly married off, either to each other or to other people.

BW usually depicts rich NRI kids...so I guess showing them to be so frivolous is okay...But most BW films targeted at youngsters dont to a good job at portraying the lives of average middle class youth.

I think the best depiction of middle class love stories are displayed in Masaan between those two college students (the other couple). That's how most guys, girls hung around, live frugal and mingle with each other. You can see his dressing is typical of college going guys too.

In my college, the trend to casually hook up is subtle but there, girls and guys dont usually confirm there relationships , untill they are sure (after 1yr/ 6 month) that they want to be together

That's always been the case in BW... Even before globalization poor hero/heroines had access to such variety of high end fashion choices 😛

It is more of the upper class trend
They are more liberal / progressive
They hook up often have flings then break up
Smoking / drinking also has become a fashion for some now
It also depends on they way they are brought up
