Guys, I will be starting a thread with an overview of the show as well as the upcoming episodes. I will be analyzing all the characters with respect to their behadgiri. I don't intend to create any fan wars in this thread as it is not about the good and the evil. Frankly speaking, I find all the characters gray except one black character. This is similar to Junoon in DD or Sony TV years back.
Beyhadh - Hadd se zyada kuch bhi accha nahin. Pyaar bhi nahin. To say the same thing in English, Anything that exceeds the limit is not good. Not even love. Yes, it is true. In other words, too much is too bad as per the title. The word beyhadh means unlimited. In this show, everyone is beyhadh in one way or the other. Though Maya is the lead, it is not only about Maya. It is about all the characters.
Maya - Her love is beyhadh. No second thoughts about it. Since she has been craving for love all these years, she finally got one. Because of her past experience, she would not like to lose that love at any cost. People say that she is manipulative and that is the thing which is being disliked. They are right in their point of view. Having said this, I don't deny that there have been fan wars about this. fan wars are the part and parcel of the forum which will always take place and will be subject to discussion as and when we watch the episodes. However, keeping all the posts aside, I will be doing the analysis now.
What makes Maya manipulative?
No child is manipulative by birth. They learn to manipulate when they begin to grow up. A person gets manipulative either from the outside world like friends and relatives or learns from their experiences. Maya was alone since her childhood. She has a troubled family. Father greedy for money, who is uncaring and disloyal to his wife. The mother is lost in her thoughts about her husband and is under depression hoping that one day her husband will definitely come to her. So it is neither the father nor the mother who could really take care of her. On the contrary, Ashwin is very much cruel & inhuman who can to any extent to get the property even if it means to kill Jhanvi & Maya for that. Maya never had any friends as Ashwin has beaten her up in front of everyone and called her insane, thereby tarnishing her image, which isolated her. House environment is loveless. Though she could tell Jhanvi about her feelings, she hesitated to tell as Jhanvi herself was depressed. on the contrary, she had to mother her. Not that Maya has not used fair means. She might have tried them but you can take it as people used her to their advantage & dumped her. This could be one of the reasons for her transformation. For the time being, I am taking it that way.
Maya is an extreme character. But she is basically a good person minus her manipulations. She is good to those who are good to her. The examples are Jhanvi & Arjun. It is difficult to gain her trust but not impossible. Even if she gets slightly insecure, she starts finding a competitor in that person. That is the thing with her. All she needs is her loved ones should maintain the trust that she has on them. As she has never experienced true love in her life, she is as good as a baby when it comes to this. Her insecurities based on bad experiences is the cause of her psychic behavior which can only get healed by unfailing love, dedication, forgiveness for whatever she did/does, patience, and of course proper medication. She needs forget whatever has happened and understand that she cannot keep manipulating all her life.
As said earlier, it is not only about Maya. It is about all others too.
Arjun - Like Maya, he too has undergone a rough phase in his life. He lost his mother at the age of 6. That was a big shock for him. His father marrying Vandana to give her the social status has been a bigger shock for him. It is never easy to accept some other woman as your mom. That is what has happened with Arjun. He is beyhadh with respect to name, fame, & riches. He is basically the person who thinks about his convenience. He wants Maya to guide him in his career and Saanjh as a friend in need is a friend indeed. He eventually fell for Maya but he stopped Saanjh when she wanted to go to Singapore to move on in her life. This shows a classic example of his selfishness which is his beyhadgiri. But his act shows that he really loves Maya.
Saanjh - She is a happy-go-lucky and very much casual & easy-going. She is not ambitious like Arjun or Maya to make her career & stand on her feet though she was working in Malkhan/Multani's law firm as an intern who is a CLA in Fashion & The City which belongs to none other than the founder Maya Mehrotra. Initially, she was lovable but her clingy nature and chasing the person who does not care for her feelings have always been annoying to many members which include me as well. She is not as selfless as it is portrayed. Her words are very much different from her actions. It is not only Maya who is obsessed but also Saanjh. I am sorry to say that but that is what I have observed. The holy books say that all are selfish, it means that. There are no exceptions for it and Saanjh is a human being. She is not an exception. She is Arjun's best friend who spoonfeeds and babysits him. However, when it came to Arjun's most important decision in his life, he had to eventually show her the right place in a rude way which means that her friendship, as well as love, are beyhadh. Of course, it is a one-sided love. Jiten is a better match for Saanjh than Arjun. It is time for her to focus on her career and move on in her life.
Vandana - She began with a good note. She tries her best to give motherly love to Arjun but he says that she gives more importance to Saanjh than himself. That is where she falters as a mother. She has been cold towards Maya till Arjun declared his love for her and wants to marry her within a week. Till then she has always been obsessed about Saanjh. Even after agreeing for Arya wedding, she was not happy somewhere & wanted just one excuse to halt Arjun's wedding with Maya so she can insert Saanjh. If she goes by kundli, she would have dropped the idea of Saajun wedding when the pundit said the horoscopes don't match & marriage cannot take place. With respect to Maya, she wanted to reject her only because of one negativity that pundit had mentioned. So lately, her behavior is unacceptable. Yes, as a mother, she has the right to be concerned about Arjun but she is a woman first. A good elder would try to sort out their differences instead of trying to stop the wedding. She told Arjun that she will kill herself if Arjun does not leave the mandap. This shows her beyhadgiri with respect to dictatorship and her blind hatred towards Maya.
Ashwin - He is completely negative whereas all others are gray. He has been a tyrant to Jhanvi & Maya and is greedy for money and property. That is his beyhadgiri. He can go to any extent to ruin Maya's happiness. He is desperate to see Jhanvi & Maya under his mercy.
Jhanvi - She is more unpredictable than any other character in this show. Like Maya & Saanjh, her love for Ashwin is beyhadh knowing that she won't get anything from him other than pains and tortures. Sometimes she is a responsible mother and sometimes she is a dutiful wife to the person who is not worth.
Note: Though I am a Maya and Arya shipper, this thread has got nothing to do with that. Character bashing and getting personal with each other is not allowed. Please add matured contents to this thread and support me. This is my humble request.
